Hi, this is my third year trying to plant pine 🌲 from seeds without success. When you put them into the water, those that stayed on the surface of water, are removed and thrown, those are empty seeds? I have collected my seeds in 2022 something in October, I didn't know the trick how to remove empty seeds, so I have placed them in a bag with sand and left them in the freezer maybe 2 months. I have planted them on 20th January, and still waiting :) nothing so far.
you have to do a stratification first. its important if you want more than 10percent of seeds to propagate. then keep them warm and moist after planting seeds, keep them i dark place without direct sunlight. when propagated keep them warm and without direct sunlight for at least 2-3months, keep them moist. when its getting warmer outside bring it outside but protect from heavy rains, winds,birds and other critters. they like eating them fresh,young, first needles :) replant in late autumn to the well prepared yard or into bigger pots if were small or planted in bulk. dont damage roots to much,dont let them dry out when replanting. now protect from deer, rabbits... after wintering add vitamins and minerals to the ground, remove weeds around it when overgrown.repeat this last cycle for 3-5 years.
