i know im late but Blood of Zeus is one of the best Netflix produced animes i've ever seen so i'm extremely glad they chose it
Like it says in the beginning of the episode, this is supposedly one of the lost stories from greek mythology, not actually a story we know from greek mythology, so an original story inspired by greek mythology

We need more anime type shows for Greek mythology. That mythology lends itself well to the genre.

This show seems really cool so far. From what I have seen in this episode it pulls alot out of greek myths while taking some liberties witch I am happy to see. They did change the origin of the giants a bit but honestly thats fine with me. In original myths the giants are the children of Gaea the earth goddess and Tartarus the god of the pit/abyss. If you like this stuff you will love the Percy Jackson books. I am excited to watch the rest with you guys. Also will you guys react to the Percy Jackson Disney + show when it comes out?

I actually didn’t like this series. The villains were more relatable to me then the hero’s and the last few episodes didn’t make sense to me story wise.
I agree with you, also it doesn't really relate to any actual Greek mythology, it's about as accurate as the Percy Jackson books, but no way as funny or good.
It never is that black and white. It's always gray.
I really liked the first half of the show before we know the villains backstory. the whole last half really didn't make sense and wasn't nearly as interesting, it felt like they crammed 3 seasons of a tv show to 8 episodes
@@tomerohanabentzvi9866 That’s how I felt. I wish the villain didn’t have any extra manipulation or help from the gods and the main hero was too plain. I’m curious to see how the crew will like this series.
Yeah to be honest the whole series just kind of felt pretty meh once the second half hit with the focus being taken off Heron and his friends to instead focus more on the Olympians - most of whom were being petty little shits.
And then they had the audacity to give Zeus a sacrificial redemption after his lecherous ways and holier-than-attitude became the cause of all this mess (or at the very least escalated it).
ngl this is a really average "anime" with a really predictable plot. I read the Percy Jackson books growing up so I was really excited for a Greek Mythology story, but I feel like this fell short, by quite bit. I think I would have liked this when I was younger but after I've seen some of the amazing stories people have been able to tell through animation, I was a bit disappointed with this one.

I was discussing it with a buddy of mine who is a big mythology buff and has been working on a steampunk story based on the Greco-Roman pantheon and one of the very things I discussed with him was how predictable and boring this show was.
I'm in the middle ground when it comes to this "anime." Was I expecting a little more from Blood of Zeus? Yes, but I feel like it works as that one show you put on to just kinda relax and enjoy a story that doesn't require too much investment. I think we've been spoiled so much with amazing tales and depictions of Greek and Roman mythology as well as other amazing works from this studio like the Castlevania series, that we all expect this to be better than it actually is. In the end I think it's okay to have this be a show that anyone can find entertaining as a narrative while also being a sort of "intro" to this genre of entertainment for those not too keen on mythology
This show is all kinds of epic.. I hope more is in the making 🙏

Just two days ago I marathoned this series after getting Netflix xD Now you guys react to it, awesome timing :)
I watched this "anime". If you can even call it that. The animation is painfully stiff, the characters are ridiculously bland, and the resolution sucks. *Spoiler Alert* Everything that happens is Zeus fault and the show tries to portray him as righteous. Fuck him. I was fully on the side of the villains.
The show gets much better as it goes along. In my opinion the first episode is sort of hit or miss but by the end of this I wanted more of this world and story. Maybe I am too much of a Greek mythology fan though to have an unbiased opinion.
even tho they do stray from the myths, they explain it in the intro plus the characters are written so well, as in their motivations and actions all make sense in context and the storyline so well paced that much of the liberties they've taken can be overlooked, imo

I wanted to like this show. My problem was I could've cared less about the Human characters. If this show had stayed on Mount Olympus it would've been better. That being said, this is just my opinion. Hope you guys enjoy it. I will say this however, the music for this show was really fun.
yeah, I hated Zeus though, its hard for me to like a guy like that. But one thing they did that i liked was they didn't make the main character op right of the bat, or at all really.
@@kathrynthickstun5736 I think that's the hard thing about Zeus (if you know Greek mythology), he is not a good person. In the myths, Hades is the only one who seems to do his job and does it really well. He even helps out heroes from time to time. Compared to the things that the Olympians do, Hades is a saint. I did enjoy that the "heroe" is not this Herculean or Artemisean badass.

Of course he is Zeus' kid! Hercules, Perseus, Kratos, Wonder Woman... It's always Zeus' child (only exception I can think of is Percy Jackson lol)

I just finished this series and it was a 8/10 to me . Loved the animation , the characters and the story .

The thing that doesn't make sense is that they killed the titans but they can't off the giants.
Watching the show, Zeus's voice seemed vaguely familiar... Turns out it's Jeffrey Mace from Agents of SHIELD.
This show had potential but it was kinda disappointing for me in the end. But I do hope it gets more season so that it can get better. Hope you guys like it.

Hercules (1997) - Mostly inaccurate but funny.
Hades (2020) - Usually about the underworld.
Blood of Zeus - The one canon where Zeus is a mostly okay guy.
