- Rendered a new Subaru Baja. Instead of basing it on Subaru Outback, I am using the Crosstrek. The last Baja was produced in 2007. Should Subaru bring back this quirky ute?

Australians & Latin Americans would be very happy with this one
I would definitely buy new Baja
this is perfect.
While I really like my Crosstrek, a Subaru crossover pickup, built to compete against the Maverick, should be at least based on a platform that can tow 3500-4000lb.
2.4T Forester maybe?
Would love this or a slightly bigger one
I'd like to see the same styling/rendering on the Ascent framework. You'd have the new FA24-F, could re-work/flash the engine for some extra power and lower-end and higher towing capabilities than the Crosstrek. Biggest weakness would be beefing up the CV Trans while maintaining all that X-Mode stuff that works directly with the CV.
On a plus, the Crosstrek would be a great litmus test as it'd be cheaper to produce and could compete against rhe new Hyundai Santa Cruz. Regardless, I'm 100% supportive if Subaru does this!
i would love to see a modern version of the subaru brat 😁
...back this quirky ute?
Looks like we both got to know the Baja from the same quirky man.
1:56 Lol?🤣
I know what you’re thinking and you’re not doing it right.
The Baja failed due to very poor marketing, the commercials were all over the place, people didn’t know what the vehicle was targeted at.
Also the interior was very outdated. Subaru used recycled interior parts from the 2001-2004 Legacy. While the New 2005 Outback/Legacy received all new exterior and interior equipment.
Lets talk about your concept.
You want to take a Crosstrek, and put a open bed in it? So no for so many reasons. But to pick a short few lets just say the engine, transmission, and chassis.
How about this idea!
We use our relationship with Toyota (they own 30% of subaru) and create another project car; like they did with the BRZ, FRS, and FR86.
Take the Subaru ASScent engine (that was supposed to go in the 2023 STI) dump it in a TACO with the ASScent CVT. Removed the strait axle setup and make it split and AWD.
TURBO AWD TACO Street Truck FTW
No photo shop needed
It all bolts up
Just needs tuning for emissions
Gets 24 MPG
