I am Armenian, and I remember growing up as a child watching My Dad playing the game, both him and whichever of his Armenian Friends he would play Tavli with, they both bang those checkers on the board when it came time to move them. And like most Armenians, they would always argue where those checkers are supposed to be located. Whenever a game would be interrupted, oh boy! Another argument would ensue about where everything was set before the game was stopped and who’s turn it was. Armenians went nuts for this game then.
Now I know the real name of the game: Tavli, which exactly translates into spanish as Tabla, which is exactly what it is!! A more proper name than backgammon, to me at least. Backgammon is an english name and that is ok for our anglo fellows. So now let's play TABLA!
Thanks for lesson. I'm now best Tavli player in whole neighbourhood.

I thought this was going to be a serious instructional video. I was pleasantly surprised! Hilarious 😂
You forgot: When you barely win a game by rolling doubles at the very end, act like that was your strategy the whole time.
What happens if the double 6 results in dancing, do you yell it anyway?
Always yell.
I was looking for the rules but I learned so much more. Με υγεία να σαι καλά φίλε
Soo relatable!
What's he shouting when he gets double sixes? Excalis?

İt is tavla , not tavli or tabla , it is a persian game so original game is TAVLA!!!
@@Aannonymousss indeed!! And very likely thr word Tavla has the very same root as Tabla (spanish) and the english Table, but I digress here.
Ταυλα tavla in both ancient and modern Greek means a flat piece of wood, that's where the name comes from.
@@Aannonymousss the game came from the area of Mesopotamia so it's not Iranian. Those people were the anchestors of modern Iran and Iraq.
@@WebColorsGr very intetesting, tabla in spanish is a flat piece of wood!
