- Here's a bit of a guide to playing fills in a Train beat. As always, go slow and keep yourself relaxed and learn each pattern until you've got it sounding nice and clean before speeding it up to play with your favourite Train beat songs.

Wow! I like the way you teach! Blew me away, thanks!
Thanks. I'm glad you found it helpful 😁
Merci 🙏 , very clear!!
Thanks, I'm glad you found it helpful
That was a great lesson. I love the informal style. Varying the accents on the sixteenth notes not only gives you a fill, but it keeps the rhythm going!
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you found it useful. Let me know how you get on 😁
If I'm not mistaken, it sounds like Keith Moon is playing a train beat in "Baba O'Riley" at the end of the song under the violin solo. It starts as a train beat, I think before ultimately turning into a chaotic flurry of 16th notes. Was wondering if you hear it as well.
Yes, I would say he's playing the type of train beat where you play 8ths with one hand and accent the backbeat with the other like the Garbage Man thing I did a video about before. You can hear him dropping 16ths in there and towards the climax all 16ths in a flurry.
Sounds like “ ballroom blitz” to me…. Love it… drives nice
Thanks. It's the same thing more or less 😁
Very helpful!
Thanks I'm glad to hear it
I been wondering 'have I seen this anywhere?' but then I realised it was mr bean's invisible drum playing video which was bothering me in the back of my mind😂. Very nice video Sir 👍
Thank you, I guess I'll take that as a compliment 😁
Woo Hoo! My name was mentioned across the pond ( sans profanity and with no Interpol mention! ) . Funny- I'm right handed but play my interpretation of this as left hand dominate. I found this happens with a couple of other things as well. Maybe if I retrain my left into being subordinate in this groove, it may help with this and the other issues.
Do you think I addressed the thing there? It might be that if you reverse the lead to your right hand, it will flow easier, especially since the coordination between the lead hand and bass would be a bit more straightforward. It's one of those things you need to try if it sounds like it might help. I'd love to hear how you got on.
I'm glad I managed to avoid swearing despite being English 🤣🤣🔥
@@Joethedrummer Very good lesson tonight Joe. And yes, you addressed it fine and it proved to me that I need to work on my left hand a lot more. Knowing is most of the problem now it can be solved.
I guess the interplay between the dominant and non dominant limbs is part of the sound we make and there are times when you want to try and strengthen the non dominant but at other times you just go with it. I try to take an approach of relaxed curiosity to these things 😁
I find the train beat oddly difficult
It can be pretty challenging. Don't despair. Work really slowly and get all the movements right and then just repeat and repeat until it sorts itself out :-D
