      hello there, lunacid 1.0 is great i never expected so many parts of it lol, just got the last ending and it was quite the (musical) experience :D
      tho i'm still not even sure what to feel after all the endings, don't even know if any of them were happy endings for the lunacid world honestly, but it still was a really good and memorable experience all the way through

      I freaking love Lunacid and I'm replaying it for the third time this week. For the DLC it would be insanely cool to see more firearms and maybe armor sets. Either way I'm excited for whatever you're cooking.

      It makes me so happy to see devs watch and respond to this content. In my mind, these sorts of deep dives are some of the most meaningful fan commentary, and they can provide such a broad base of observation that, even if they dont provide good feelings and self assurance, can at the very least provide something substantial to chew on as far as the gap between creator and player.

    It's really criminal that Spooky's is THE Kira game, it's a fun little gimmick game, but Lost In Vivo is an ACTUAL horror masterpiece. The themes and symbolism of SH2 are legendary, but it's also kind of a specific, unique experience that doesn't seem directly inspired by the writer's experience (maybe it is, I don't actually know) but Lost In Vivo is visceral AND universal to everyone who's experienced trauma or mental illness.
    Also Lost Tape 4 is maybe the most universally relatable dream sequence I've ever seen in a game, who hasn't had that dream where they can't find a house that will let them in to get away from some threat, or a hallway that you can't get to the end of? Kira's so tuned into what's shared about our brains that I've gotta think they've got SOME psychological background, even if it's just an avid interest.

      The dlc of Spooky’s puts it onto the same level of Lost in Vivo in my opinion with the base game serving to enhance how good the dlc is. The dollhouse especially does some really cool stuff with the doll mechanic.

    I don't think people mention often enough how much Lost in Vivos themes matter.
    The only reason it is such an important game in my life is it's story and theming reached out to me and helped me understand parts of myself more, and I really would not be anywhere today without it.

    Oh HELL yes! I've been a fan of Akuma Kira's, weirdly, ever since I saw Basilisk. It was such an unassuming little game, but it was a brilliant idea told in a very concise way that stuck with me long after. I'm super excited to hear what you have to say as well, given how much you've shot up my "RUclips Video Essayist" list (I'm currently finishing Endwalker so I can actually watch your FFXIV videos). Keep up the good work, you make interesting points and talk about interesting subjects I don't see others discuss!

    I like the indie video game scene because it feels that it brought the concept of author (as in "Film d'auteur") to the video game industri. (Not that writers and such weren't important before, but after this boom in indie video games, I go after specific games from specific creators, not companies...)

    What are your thoughts on the Shadows collection, a series of GMOD maps Kira has made? I know Kira is a little embarrassed by them, but I absolutely adore them. They're a time capsule of internet culture, tacky GMOD Horror, and loaded with what makes Kira games so good. I had a great time playing through them!

  • @risacooper

    Argh that section where you talked about your anxiety really spoke to me. I don't have diagnosed anxiety, but I do have frequent paranoia about people secretely hating me, or get way too much stress in and about social sitatuations, and yes, I also have loved horror ever since I was a kid. I loved the adrenaline of being on the edge of my seat, and the unique stories being told, and how horror could make me feel. I think horror is so effective because you can have the biggest scare of your life and then realize: you're okay. You've survived the biggest scare of your life. What else could you survive? As you said - even though the entire genre is about scaring you, it's actually like a safe zone, preparing you for and helping you understand the outside world.

    Every time you pronounce Lunacid as "lune-Ah-cid" a part of my soul leaves my body. (It's only pronounced loona-cid, btw).
    Otherwise, amazing video. I've been a big fan of Kira's work ever since spooky's, so seeing someone distill that fascination into a two hour video makes me so happy. Keep up the good work, this video really deserve more views.

    • @ZuldimYT

      Wait.
      Is it not a portmanteau of "lunar" and "acid," like the lunar acid you see the moon crying in the statue in Wing's Rest?

    • @unoriginalumbrella8111
      @unoriginalumbrella8111 Год назад +1

      @@ZuldimYT Nope. It's the portmanteau of the word "luna" and "cid". Kira even made a funny image of Loona from Helluva Boss and Sid from Ice Age as a guide to how to pronounce it.

    • @ZuldimYT
      @ZuldimYT  Год назад

      @@unoriginalumbrella8111That is... HIGHLY confusing given the prominence of that melting moon statue in Wing's Rest.
      Edit: I'm not saying you're wrong, to be clear, I'm just very surprised to hear this information.
      I also thought if anyone was going to correct my pronunciation in this video, it would for sure be for the way I say "itch.io" as "itchy-oh."

    • @ImpendingRiot83
      @ImpendingRiot83 Год назад +4

      @@ZuldimYTIt works if you think of it more as portmanteau of “Lucid” as in lucid dreaming (dreams being a core foundational theme of the game) and Luna as in the Moon (given the moon’s prominence in the story and setting, the nature of Ending E, etc.). Just take the moon and put it in your dream and you got Lunacid.

    • @Sylvine
      @Sylvine 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@ImpendingRiot83It's also similar to the word "lunacy".
      It's a surprisingly clever title, combining lunacy, lucidity, and indeed the moon melting "lunar acid".

    For all you kids watching, mouse look was such a huge innovation in games that for a long while many gamers thought immersion would never hit a higher point. This was when VR headsets required literal supercomputers to run and were so heavy they needed to be bolted to the ceiling on these big articulated armatures. While "greater immersion" was technically already out there, VR was so far away from most people it might as well have not existed. It's kinda crazy being as old as I am because I've watch video games change and morph and do things I never thought were possible. To go from crappy Atari nonsense to fully voiced 3D characters with beautiful lighting....needless to say, watching the evolution of the medium has been amazing!

    love lunacid, its really scratches the itch for older king's field/shadow tower and it surprised me when i went looking for more that they made spooky's jumpscare. I am also under the umbrella of just a fan of their work, i dont follow them on anything, or even use discord these days. I just like the work they have done
    the art of coffin stacking is truly one of my favorite past times, i must have spent at least 2 hours trying to find secrets in the library with coffin stacking during ea.
    I wish there was a way to stop death so i could explore that whole catacombs area easily and methodically. Even in early access iv spent over 20 hours exploring and even did the whole tower for the reward at the end of it.
    I pronounce it as Luna-sid because of all the moon and insanity imagery the game has so it seems more fitting to pronounce it like lunatic especially because of old beliefs of the moon causing seizures and later full on mental illnesses leading to people being called lunaticks Your pronounciation of lun-acid sounds just so wrong to me :P
    When i first encountered an abyssal demon, the catacombs one, i immediatly saw it as the titanite demons from ds1, but gravely mistepped my boundries when it came at me so fast

    On that note: not related at all but also of a similar topic because it was mentioned during the In Vivo segment. Destiny is a game that’s helped me a lot with my own self images and my own fears and stuff as a form of weird self-therapy. Funny (in a good way) how stories do that to people.

    So for S.I.N. There is 2 different codes. One for 99 lives and one for a secret ending.
    The 99 lives one is on the death screen (not the game over). And it has to be typed really quickly. (I don’t know if it did anything different that I made sure I had boost and accepted help from prior lives). The code is the one from the back of the box on the itchio page. Just keep spamming and try to be really fast.
    The second code doesn’t seem to need to be as fast and it is the first code backwards and is put in on the game over screen and is the much cooler secret in my opinion.

    I liked your video a lot. Although i would say that while i share your opinions on most of it, that is not the case for the Lunacid section. Althought i know it is very petty/ egotistical of me to say, If you ever revisit Lunacid's full release in a video, i hope you can reconsider some of your opinions. Specifically, and having played both early acces and full version of it, Lunacid actually struggles capturing the atmosphere of From software's old titles because of exactly the change in controls, music, overall design phylosophy and themes, rather it is it's own twist on the gameplay and aesthetics while being a giagantic museum of lovely fanart. I'm not aware if you have for a fact played the King's Field and Shadow Tower sagas, but those are only similar to Lunacid in a superficial way. If you end up reading this, i thank you kindly for covering this games in your beautiful video.

    Always interesting to hear people talk about their flaws, but perhaps not in a good way. It feels like everyone on RUclips who is engaged in genuine analysis of games media has anxiety of some form or another. And ever since covid, so much of what they have to say can often be colored by a deep trauma from the pandemic. A cultural trauma. A personal truama.
    One i do not share, and do not understand.
    And thats a strange feeling, having to remind myself not to roll my eyes as i encounter these feelings again and again, cause these people share my interests, but not my worldviews and CERTAINLY not my fears. Its isolating in a really... i guess selfish way? That frustrates me to no end.

    The more I fail at being an indie dev, the more I realize that what people want from Indies are big tits, rogue likes or some kind of abstract horror that only gains traction after a RUclipsr plays for the content mill

    It should be noted Akuma Kira is by no means an innocent developer, as he put one of my friends on blast ultimately leading to her suicide.
    While people are free to sing his praises, this does not wipe away Akuma Kira's sins...

      @@sonataavalon6017 Does a monster choose to change its den 3 times a morning? No? Then I don't care, "it" or they, have not earned my respect for such pronouns. Quite the opposite. All I ask for Akuma Kira to do is rightfully turn "themselves" in for the indirect 2nd degree murder, bordering manslaughter, of my dearest friend... In fact in a twitter DM reply, Akuma showed some nerve by not doing so, and cutting contact with me.
      Akuma is a monster...
      And to me?
      I hope all "they" are and always will be, is nothing more than a memory... and nothing at all to me...
      When they find their souls alone?
      I'll just say I told them so...
      Not even a fallen leaf from their family tree, nor their eulogy...
      AkumaKira is responsible for murder.
      By brushing off my friends suicide and the shock it put me through, they are trying to deflect all responsibilities of coercion of an individual to have committed suicide by fall from a great height by guilt bombing her.
      You know what the worst part is?
      I'll never hear from her again, and never get to cherish her kindness, and it's all the fault of an indie dev trying to save face and PR.
      She wasn't a perfect person, but she was doing what she did to quote: "Make people feel validated and happy"...
      That was until the king of dunces you all look up to brought out the virtual maypole, tied her up, and burned her down.
      To put it in terms you'll understand: She was my friend. And the monster you look up to?
      Well suffice to say: If they don't go to hell when they die they might go to heaven, they might go to heaven - but probably not!

    Lunacid got played by a lot of big streamers and it's a kings' field like, so dark soul's fans like me love it. I was going to get it waiting for a drop in cost. (have BG3 and other games for now.)
