My favorite Som Tum I had in Bangkok was made by a sweet husband and wife street vendor right in the heart of Khlong Toei (March 2019)...The best I've ever had!!
I know this is an older video, my son had this in Hawaii and I have been looking for a good recipe. I found it! From Port Neches, Texas. I start my day with you.
I just made your Som Tum recipe for dinner tonight and it was amazing. We went to Thailand for Christmas this year and I ate Som Tum AND Mango Sticky Rice every day. Thank goodness you have both recipes just for me. I bought dried shrimp while I was there just for this recipe (We are stationed in Okinawa, Japan so I wasn't sure if we could find it here). Turns out the jar said dried shallots not dried shrimp. My eyes are old. It was still yummy with the dried shallots. Thank you so much!! P.S. I chopped the papaya the way you demonstrate and I still have all my fingers.
Hi, watching from India,Chandigarh. I have just come back from Kuala Lumpur. Had such wonderful thai food .Asked my hosts those thai recipes .Now l am making them and so l am seeing your recipes and consult them. Your recipes are commendable. I enjoy seeing your recipes and making them. Everyone in my house is relishing your thai food.. You have a very sweet Mum. Today l am seeing her making Som Tum. Stay blessed my dear😊
Good that your mom is still so active. Shredded papaya, chili, cheery tomatoes, long bean, sugar, dried shrimp, some peanuts and fish source. Sure your mom can run the show.... on her own.
Hi Marion, my wife is beginning to love Vietnamese food. She will be making your papaya salad as soon as the video is over. Your Mom is so sweet :) We live in the USA by the way. Thank you.
This is the best demonstration I have seen for Som Tum. Great idea for sir frying extra papaya, they are usually quite large. I like mine mild so I use small amount coarse dried chili powder.
Your mom can totally run the show but she will miss you so I will say you should also be there with her.. love to you guys from San Francisco, California. You both rock !
