You mean I can't just stick my elbows out like I'm doing the chicken dance and start spinning to become an invincible cyclone of elbow strikes?

    1. Just the tip (that's what she said)
    2. Being too far for effective footwork
    3. You let your guard down to throw a strike
    4. Don't get fancy, it's a spear like strike, not a ballroom dance. Unless you are very well trained
    5. No angle, you'll hit their defense or miss a good shot if you throw randomly
Good video. I agree that these are things I notice when I practice

Kickboxing helped my brother a lot. He was really happy go lucky whenever you’d see him until the kids at school started picking on him all the time. He’d be at home upset at just the idea of going back in to that school the next day. I hated seeing some one so excite about life just defeated.
He and I bonded over MMA and I had been taking some kickboxing lessons for 6 months. I’d been enjoying it so I suggested taking some classes too. Not really to fight but to gain confidence in himself and to get comfortable with his body.
Anyway long story short he took classes and I saw his confidence come back. I was happy for him. Unfortunately he used some of his training on a few kids at school and got in a lot of trouble. The parents decided not to press charges (thankfully) but he lost his job and he’s likely not going to be allowed to teach again. I’m happy he got his confidence back.

Once when my local police force visited my high school to talk about careers, one of the police sergeants said that she once "sliced open" an attacker's throat clean using her elbow, with many of her colleagues confirming her story. She always said that using your elbow is a great way to confuse and do very high damage to attackers if done correctly. I miss that cop lady, she had bad-ass written all over her XD.

I've seen a video of two russian, drunk guys fighting over a very dumb thig essentially, but as they're fighting, one of them takes down the other to the ground, and then, the guy that's being grabbed starts to elbow the other guy... ON THE THROAT! And he does this like 15 times before the spectators stop him, and this is where he realizes that he just took the guy's life, by repeatedly striking him in the throat with full power, non-stop elbow hits.

    Recap:
    1. Use the tip of elbow to slice instead of forearm
    2. Don't throw them from too far (find range)
    3. Do defend urself with guard when throwing elbows
    4. Don't be too fancy as an amateur (spinning shit is hard)
    5. Do throw them from different angles to cut guard

A good idea is to eat things that have a low calory density, like vegetables. It's really hard to gain weight on vegetables and it's a little easier to loose weight. I feel that protein is usually more satiating compared to the calories than fat and carbs. It basically boils down to calories in vs. calories out, so if you can achieve that without feeling super hungry, that's what you should stick too.

Hey Shane, idk if you'll get this. But when I throw elbow strikes on the bag I nearly always graze my arm/elbow.
This deters me from practising them. Is there a way to prevent this? Or do I wrap my elbows up before striking? Thank you any responses would be appreciated!

Thank you very much for uploading this video. I have one question though. Is it advisable to condition the tip of one's elbows the way one conditions the bones of one's forearms (with a wooden stick or a sharpening steel, for example)? Until now, I mostly refrain from conditioning the tips of my elbows, because I am afraid that I damage my elbow joints. Thank you very much in advance for taking your time to answer my question.

Shane, I have watched your videos forever, and i have a question, I'm afraid of getting hit, so in a fight, should you just go for it, or should you stay back? Someone please help

I've never been in a real street fight before and I've been watching a lot of the videos on this channel...I just hope I somehow apply all this info the right way and be successful when the time comes lol. I'm not naive enough to think all I need is this w/o any training but shit I hope this helps lol

One thing I tried on a Sandbag but never in a competition is throwing a fake left jab and immediately throw in my right elbow instead. Will this actually work?
