Thanks for this most helpful review! I have one of these, but not having been a Marine either, I'm perplexed by a lot of stuff on the pack, because I'm not familiar with the intended uses; your review helped me better understand! Thank you! This pack is a beast! I have love/hate relationship with it, because though it's well made and really comfortable, it can be ungainly and difficult to maneuver when traveling on trains and buses. (My assault pack fell out of it, causing me to lose it at the airport (with God's grace I got it back later), so make darn sure yours is attached securely to the ILBE with at least a carbiner! Straps are everywhere, and they get caught on things! FYI: At airport, I recommend placing in large laundry sack so that straps and buckles don't get caught and damaged on the belts.
BP thank you and hope you subscribed to the channel . Thanks for the comments , I really need to do an update vid on this bag with better camera angle and I also have that love hate with this bag and it is a beast .
Great vid. I encorp a recon /hunt type bag concept in my "inch" system also. I also utilize a vest which includes the last ditch survival gear As well as the send them home to GOD equipment. I pack a pretty complete set of gear for those uncertain times. This bag has a lot of features I like just never pulled the trigger on it. I would pack inside of it my Change of bug "clothes" and if needed say, to ditch my vehicle on way home from a disaster of some sort grab it and my "BOV" coin a term lol, bug "out vest" and leave with all the equipment. Great thing about large bags like that is that you can leave things that are not useful and lighten the load. Hard part for most people is to not add things just because they have room. Most Peppers today are so organized that the pouches dividing their gear weights a few pounds alone. Good to see you with a light roll pouches. Anyway I like the bag I was a soldier so our gear was to me not as great thought out. Like the information thanks have a goodun.
Right , it's big . I would use it as an INCH bag "I'm Never Coming Home" not a bug out bag or as a weekend or week long backpacking trip . A bug out bag needs to be 20-30# max in my opinion to get you to a sfe location they make take 2-3 days , the larger bag should be for me any way at my safe location that I would use if I had to leave there and needed to take more gear with me to establish a new safe place. I've have other vids on bug out bags and get home bags ,which are smaller and meant to keep in your vehicle. Good luck and thanks
Iv had and tried very expensive packs from mystery ranch to 5.11 and while there great packs this is still my go to because it’s so so tough and a very comfortable pack and people say it’s to big etc well I just don’t pack it full it’s so adjustable you can shrink it to fit your needs I’m using a full system one now I got 5 sets from sportsman’s guide a couple years ago but my original while not as pretty is still fully functional nothing at all broke or wore out and if you look at a lot of other packs they follow this design in one way or a few
I sewed the radio pouch holes shut too! This is a good bag. Too bad at age 54 I think I'm gettin to broke down in the knees to carry the thing oh well maybe knee replacements would get me back to carrying the thing
Troy Stutsman thanks for watching and subbing , this bag is well made and will hold a lot of gear, I'll do an updated vid hopefully soon now that I've not as green at filming as I was a couple years ago in this vid . Thanks again and you have a blessed day as well.
i have this pack, and 2 others, the 2 others do not have a comfortable hip belt like this one, and that makes a world of difference to me, i l love this bag
For those that want extra storage but not attach it to the sides and wish to have it high on the pack, get a second lid place one under the other.with the top one being strapped to the pack
Thanks to everyone who has watched and subscribed to the channel, this vid has been one of the most viewed and it was one of my early ones , hence the frame size, I was new to the camera . I am planning an updated one this pack in the future. Also I invite everyone to check out the new Instagram @got2goprepared and the FB PAGE "@ got2go prepared because you just never know "
nice bag! i'm in the process of looking for something to replace my redrock diplomat. i love the bag but afraid it's lacking in quality for any serious weight or long term use. thanks for sharing!
im using a large alice pack and needless to say it's time to change. I would like this to be my next inch bag,,, im planning to combine it with an lbv and possible 2 butt backs with it as well. I always use military grade packs because the civilian bags just don't last.
check out the tazmainian tiger packs they are very impressive the TT range ruck is what i'm looking at. can't seem to find a ruck capable of taking 2 5 gallon buckets top to bottom stacked. might have to consider making my own nothing else really fits what i am looking for in a INCH ruck.
SINESTERSERPENTSIXXX I'm buying 2 Marine core marpat packs with smaller assault packs for the wife and I. we going on foot with heavy predators in Uganda,,, hope to see some hyena's up close.
Enjoyed the video brother. I just got an ILBE and was researching how others pack theirs. Just hosted a meetup this past weekend and would have loved to have had you join us. Had 22 guys and it was an awesome weekend of dirt time. :- ) From a fellow Tennessean.
+george melendez I have found many sites for the Assault pack. My main one is Ebay. I have also got the 56l liner too. I got the Assault pack and the Liner brand new. I bought the Main Pack used but that was ok, missing a couple of buckles and a strap was dislodged. I did manage to get a brand new one later very cheap. If you find a complete setup Main, lid, radio, Assault, and Hydration for a reasonable price.... GET IT!!!!. Now the 4 piece modular sleep system is another thing. it is bulky. Overall it will cost you about the same if you piece it together but I did get some pieces in Lots though. Only other additional pouch I got was a Corpsman Medical insert 4, I have this one on the inside where the radio pouch goes.
nev bailey I ordered mine off eBay from Black Star surplus and the smaller assault pack at surplus store near fort Campbell in KY down from the base. Hope that helps , Thanks for watching and subscribing
Troy Stutsman lol thanks for watching and subbing. I'm wanting to redo this vid in the near future , this was one of my early vids and I was new to the whole filming. Pleas check other bag vids that are more resent as well
Better to have more available space than not enough. The biggest downside of this pack is it weighs 12lbs by itself and you almost need to pack it to make it fit right. But with clothes, bedding, shelter, etc it's not hard to fill
good afternoon you would have 1 backpack Desa to sell me and tale would be the $$ of her with shipping to Brazil I await reply I will be grateful to and another I am your fan cara 😀
I'm being realistic when I say there is no way humanly possible that I can carry that kind of weight especially with a family I'm going to have to device some kind of dolly or a cart of some sort
It can carry 120-200lbs of gear and weighs 12lbs by itself... I can carry everything i need and my wife's pack is the assault pack... This way with hers and mine i can carry if need be if one of us get hurt both bags link into one and no worrying about not being able to carry. Both packs total is less than 80lbs.

Lawrence Co.
Tn.Tim Bushcraft oh ok that's Lewisburg Iron City area right ? I know some folks down that way
Yeah I'm just north of Iron city.
I was wondering where that radio pouch goes lol I was looking everywhere for attachments outside but didn't realize it was inside.
Yeah it goes on the inside close to your back near top, should be couple attachment points there for it. Hey and thanks for watching and subscribing.
may i ask wear did you buy the assualt pack.great videowould like to see what you have in it i also recommend getting the water proof seal liner
+george melendez I have found many sites for the Assault pack. My main one is Ebay. I have also got the 56l liner too. I got the Assault pack and the Liner brand new. It can carry more than 110 lbs.
but still if you have long bag even if it has sixty lb in it that is still to big I'm not talking about the weight but all of space
+MountainRecluse I agree , well said .
Better to have more available space than not enough. The biggest downside of this pack is it weighs 12lbs by itself and you almost need to pack it to make it fit right. But with clothes, bedding, shelter, etc it's not hard to fill
