Have been trying to figure out why the gun would randomly stop firing, and I had mentally figured that it was probably some safety second switch. You dove in and found exactly what I suspected. I have been looking at US forums and videos, no-one was addressing my issue like you did. I will report back once I have fixed mine. Thank You!!
Actually I opened up the tool and tested the same switch like you did and that switch is just fine. BUT I did find the other switch that is triggered by the pressing of the tool nose- it is near the bottom of the tool. I tested that switch and it was stuck NC, pushing the button did nothing. So I am ordering the replacement part and will report back...
As clever as I can make myself think that I am, watching Dean in action, I gain perspective. But in a far greater reality, the brains that can conceive of this kind of machinery are either absolutely on another level, or they have harnessed actual magic. ❤
Thank you very much. I fixed it myself, I live in Sweden and here Makita warranty repair service does not cover previously opened tools, they made me pay $200 to replace the whole tool and I paid $10 for a small cable and did it myself, thanks again🙏
Fixing these absolutely blind (and because either everyone else refused or I'm not as stupid as the rest I had to fix it) was a nightmare, and then a coworker who ordered parts which wasn't correct waited for them (which took 2 weeks) and rhen requiring to order the correct parts and wait even longer
I might be wrong but I think the "home position" is semi compressed. The repair manual for an earlier model says to tap the trigger to decompress the spring before disassembly. I have an older model(351) and it's been playing up but I reckon it's just the pin driver. Do you have any experience with the older model and common faults?
if you could do a wee video on how you tested that switch and what you were looking for, multimeter setting and what reading is good and bad. i was hoping you would show the new one being tested. i presume each probe went into each slot but couldn't see clearly , thanks great content.
I know I'm replying to an old comment, but the meter is set to audible ohms. He's just looking for continuity across the two legs of the switch. You're in the right mode on the meter if you get a beep when touching the two leads together. A beep means there's a connection, and no beep means there's no connection (open circuit). A switch works similar to touching two wires together. When a switch is on, electricity is flowing and it would be like two wires touching. When a switch is off, the two wires aren't touching and electricity can't move across.
How do you reapply the tension in the spring again? With the tension released, once the nailer was reassembled, when the tip is pushed and the trigger pressed, the light is flashing.
So how long usually does it take for them to get a part to you after you order it, assuming they have stock of it, and i take it you have like a local supply house you order from? I love your videos by the way
Thank you! I was able to get mine moving again. P. S. I wish you could hear yourself through an American's ears. My daughter was laughing at how many times you said "shoot"! 😂
Tried this procedure, but releasing the tension on the main spring put the gears out of phase and it stripped the drive gear shaft as soon as I turned it back on
Tell me do the smell of kerosene on your hands from the part washer last long do you have something to clean immediately afterwards so there won't be a smell?

Thanks! Will do!
Great job. Love watching your channel
Looks like an absolute nightmare, at least that Makita has metal gears, good to see.

How about under powered shots? Like only getting half a pin through
How much that piece cost to you brother ?

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I use petrol to clean the gears and reapply new grease
I wish you did this video like a year or two ago
I've had 4 of these guns in the past 2 years. Every one of them has consistently jammed. They are absolute garbage.
