I'm embarrassed to admit that today is the first time I've come across your channel. After watching the amount of work you put into this excellent video, I had no choice but to subscribe. Fantastic work! 👍🏻
Really appreciate your videos. I'd even put you shoulder to shoulder with the guys at Digital Foundry. Seriously guys, as a video editor and overall quality freak myself, I cannot thank you enough for all the efforts. Also, it would be great to have a video about how to get the best picture from the original Xbox. It was an amazing machine with some really forward thinking features that came in a very interesting time (the beginning of consumer available progressive-scan enabled TVs and proto HD [720p] ).
out of the new Sega Genesis Classics Collection, the Steam version is the best way to go for it. it was released on Steam Years ago and included Sonic 3& Knuckles, the Ecco series, and Eternal Champions. It also has support for mods in the games, for more interesting options
I like the Steam version of this because it has rom hack support through Steam workshop. I've got Sonic 3 Complete and multiple Streets of Rage hacks that I'm technically playing officially. Also there's a handful of games for it only on Steam.
I think they may have forgotten to mention that the native screen resolution of the 3DS is precisely 240p, which adds to how absolutely stunning and literally pixel-perfect the games look. It truly is the best way to experience those few games today.
I find the 3DS the best picture quality for retro gaming. With custom firmware you can use virtual console injectors to play other Nintendo retro games in official Nintendo emulators
[Coury] We tend to never call our stuff "reviews" because we'd rather show what the subject is, how it works and why it is the way it is. We'll show the problems and the benefits with it and its up to you if you feel like they're a deal breaker or deal maker. Yes, there were a lot of times in this video where I just showed the different compilations of stuff because it didn't make sense to have them face off against this new disc. I think the evolution of them is interesting. But if you needed a sum up of my point of view of where it stands compared to other collections, its at the end of the video where I say "While in my mind, the M2 collections remain the absolute pinnacle of Genesis games on new consoles, this newest compilation provides an excellent entry point for new players to see just what the Genesis was capable of doing. For the price it’s a pretty great deal, and the more people that can play Wonder Boy in Monster World the better."
[Try4ce] It's OK for people to call them reviews if they want to, it's just the go-to term. It's not what we think of them as, though. Coury just wanted to present a bunch of different Sega compilations in an interesting way that we didn't think anyone else would do.
Good video, but I felt like there was too much time spent on covering the old compilations and not enough on the current one we've all bought or are considering purchasing. That being said, I did learn several useful tips and tricks to get the best experience out of the game.
I always questioned this too. M2 is pretty much the best team when it comes to making compilations or re-releases of games released on Sega Consoles. The fact that they went out of their way to make a brand new revision of Sega's Old System 16 Arcade Board JUST so they can remake Fantasy Zone II really shows how dedicated they are to their systems. Always makes me wonder why they chose to go elsewhere when it comes to clone consoles or some compilations. (Granted Maybe M2 might be too busy to even partake in a compilation.)
Great video as always, really glad you went into detail about the sound issues in this compilation. This has always been a contention point with me and emulators in general. I have the PS4 version and the sound issues are very annoying. Constant sound glitches, sound slow down and unsynced sound effects plague the collection. To make things worse it's noticeable on the title screen of some games especially Light Crusader, PSIII and PSIV. Also I found that Streets of Rage had worse slow down than the original hardware in moments you'd expect it to see slow down. Easiest place to see an example is in level 2 where there are 2 axe juggling clowns. If you continue to walk and don't fight any enemies so they all load it slows down far worse than actual hardware. The end boss of level 3 had similar slow down issue. Level 5 was is also an example where slow down seems to happen more than my original hardware. I personally noticed the sound delay when fighting the twins jumping (Level 5 boss) usually using the sound as a queue to help fight them ... Gunstar Heroes level 2 multiple boss forms is another example of sound delay ... it was annoying to say the least. It's unfortunate for younger people who may think this is/was normal ... Lastly I didn't know the M2 ports were so well done I'm going to check them out thanks Coury.
Thanks for the involved video as always. Having been toying around with the various Genesis compilations mentioned since their inception, this was a real trip down memory lane.
You guys have the greatest channel on YT for retro gaming. I love you. Now I know to look for M2 emulations only. Thanks! I just wrote to M2 in Japanese and gave them a link to your video. =) Maybe they'll watch it? Who knows.
your clip just after 22:06 perfectly encapsulates the forced border problem, as that platform pops in from what your peripheral vision told you was clear... and i LOVE the 3DS ports! they're some of my most played games on my main 3DS, the three japanese cartridges make me want a japanese 3DS just for them. we only got the first here in the UK as well. Such a great episode, i'll be watching this several times in the future lol
I was looking at buying this collection on Steam and I came across your video. I just wanted to say you did an amazing job and thank you. I will definately be checking out more of your vids!
I absolutely love these videos! Thank you guys so much for making them! I have already learned so much through your RGB videos and it has spurred me to continue my collection and preservation of classic gaming!
Great video! I love how you delve into the emulation quality as so many other reviewers seem to brush over or ignore that aspect completely. This video also makes me feel better about only playing these games on original hardware 😉. 16-bit games in HD on your modern flatscreen can't compete with RGB scart on a CRT!
PERFECT! These comparisons were exactly what I was looking for. Another MASTERFULLY done video. Thank you. So glad I subscribed. I have the Sonic collection on the Xbox 360 as well as the offerings on Steam. I also have to agree on how amazing the M2 conversions are on the 3DS and the 3D is especially nice on a "New" 3DS with the stable 3D. It really has to be seen to be appreciated.
The Steam versions of all of these games are fantastic as well, it was actually the basis for the PS4 and Xbox One compilation. The one on Steam however has even more options than any other compilation(however, it is JUST Genesis games and added features) and even more games.
It was very laggy before the latest update, the one that added the same features as the console versions. Maybe they updated the emulator running the games.
20:14 The PAL version only supports 576i. Through devices like the Framemeister and Generic SCART to HDMI scaler, the deinterlacing looks awful. It's especially noticeable when the "Sonic collected an emerald" screen comes up - the emerald is just a static mess of combing artifacts. The OSSC is a neat workaround for this game. On NORNAL interlaced content, I generally HATE bob-deinterlacing. But with 288p content that was converted to 576i, linedoubling does a good job restoring the integrity of the image.
Thank you guys! Awesome as always. I would love if you guys went into Neo Geo compilations at some point. Especially with all those ACA ports coming out.
Yeah the Smash Pack on Dreamcast is one of the most disappointing compilations of all time, Genesis or otherwise. The irony is you can play homebrew emulators on Dreamcast easily that are WAY better.
I really wish we could get a Sega Saturn Collection soon so more people will actually have a chance to try out all the cool games from that system instead of the Genesis which everyone has played to death at this point
Fun fact: There was a Mega Drive cartridge published which contained both Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. So there was a Mega Drive compilation, on the Mega Drive! In fact, there were quite a few similar games, e.g. I own a legit Mega Drive cart of 6 Mega Drive games! Must’ve been some big cartridges...
"One of my finest childhood memorys is getting my Sega Genesis on christmas of 1989" ... yeah ... I wasn't born back then :D but also bought a Genisis a month ago and love it :D
Just an FYI, on the XBone version, I selected stretched full screen mode and then manually set my TV to 4:3, but I still get tons of vertical shimmering on Phantasy Star IV.
I love the UI of the Genesis Classis!! The scanline emulation is not the best but playable with some screen curvature but they should have proper CRT emulation. I have always wondered what 4K CRT emulation could look like if done right if they really tried to emulate the screen itself.
Sega was smart to give you guys a review copy. Not going to lie I'd be way more likely to buy one of these classic collections if it was MLiG approved.
I honestly can't believe Sega would allow the Smash Pack for the Dreamcast to be released with the noise/sound like that. Whoever was in charge of that release really just didn't give a shit apparently.
When it has a slight several frame sound delay, do you think that could be part of the HDMI medium? Maybe it's the same on an HDMI-modded Genesis. When I first purchased Rocksmith on the PS3, it had a warning saying that there would be a several millisecond delay if I used HDMI audio and it was quite noticeable when playing guitar even to my stereo amplifier. Using the RCA audio out on the PS3 with the HDMI video, the audio delay offset from the video was gone.
Honestly the only better thing than this compilation are the individual sega ages games. But thats because they are also recoding them for the most part.
I have a PC collection from the 90s called Sega Smash Pack. It came with: Altered Beast Columns Golden Axe OutRun Phantasy Star II Revenge of Shinobi Sonic Spinball Vectorman The emulation was decent for the most part, but the real oddity was Revenge of Shinobi was actually marketed as Super Shinobi. Furthermore, it was the beta of the game! So the music was wrong, you could instantly turn on invincibility, and the last boss would take you back to the beginning of the game. I know some people complain about the quality of the emulation in some collections, but nothign is as bad as that IMO. I'll probably pick up this collection eventually. Im a bit mad theres no Sonic 3 and S&K, and its very puzzling if its really because of music licensing issues. IMO the collection is very solid. It freakin' has WonderBoy in Monster World. Thats my favorite Genesis game next to PSIV.
It terms of compilations of sega genesis game's I only own the ones released for the playstation 2 and 3 and also the playstation 4 as well I'm most nostalgic for the playstation 2 version witch is how I discovered this consoles amazing library of game's in fact as I'm currently typing out this comment I'm actually playing the sega genesis collection for the playstation 2 I get very nostalgic memory's watching the intro sequence that showcases all of the games available in this collection I also love the main menu theme that plays when you're choosing what game that you want to play what also makes this collection worthwhile Is the addition of tips for each of the games as well as viewing there box artwork and also trivia and a detailed description of each of the games respective plotlines It also contains extras a plenty and interviews as well in my opinion it is definitely an excellent collection of segas titles that where relased on the genesis and getting to play them on the playstation 2 is definitely a very uquinqe and enjoyable experience and will give major nostalgic memory's to those that original grew up with these games when they were originaly relased on the console itself
How does the PS4 / Xbox One version of the collection compare to the Steam one? IIRC the Steam version has that same bedroom menu selection mechanic, but is the emulation any different?
You could cited The remaster's of The Sonic Séries classics on Android by The Guy responsible for Sonic Mania this is The absolutely best way to play Sonic 1, 2 and CD and still blows my mind why Sega didn't Port then to consoles
[Coury] I actually had some stuff in there - along with the awful Sonic Genesis for the GBA, but ultimately removed them in the end because I felt like they betrayed the overall theme of the video being about "compilations" and singular game releases went against that.
The sound problems with the Phantasy Star games on XBO/PS4 got more prominent the longer you played. I found myself having to reset the console every couple of hours. I assume this probably holds true of other games too, but I didn't find myself playing them that long in one session.
Considering Sega Ages on Switch could be getting Saturn and Dreamcast titles in the future AND M2 is behind it, we might finally see some good SS/DC emulations.
I really feel you on the borders. It's becoming a trend now to fill that space with anything imaginable. Not just in video games, but with TV and movies. It's just an unnecessary distraction that makes it harder to focus on the actual content you're playing or watching.
This game is on the Switch as well, but has some input delays if pressing buttons too fast. The room where you select the games and change some settings are here but blurry and not as great as the PC and other console versions. If it weren't for the text, I wouldn't know what logo I was looking at.
I have a few questions and thoughts. Regarding the Sega Genesis Collection for the PS2, I believe the aspect ratio can be scaled properly by condensing horizontally and stretching vertically to max on both in-game video settings. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) Not perfect, but better and removes most flickering. The Sonic Mega Collection that preceded on the PS2 generally has better emulation, except for the very first Sonic the Hedgehog, which has highly distracting sound lag. Regarding the borders on the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection and the M2 Vintage Collection: have you tried setting the console system settings to 4:3 before starting the game? I believe that may remove the borders. A tangent, but I've been experimenting with cheap and easy (but good quality) ways to play old consoles on HD televisions, with some success. Is there a place here to discuss this?
[Try4ce] The OSSC info in this video is rather out of date, but you may find some of our other information in the video useful as well. ruclips.net/video/lHoOKLWIMKU/видео.html
I do want to correct a minor mistake regarding the Sonic Mega Collection Plus, the Xbox and Ps2 versions are actually 525p,not 480p and the Gamecube version is 480i. The bit higher resolution is actually why I re-bought it for Ps2.
Alucard That’s a mixed truth, Gamecube version is not totally 480i. It is actually240p in-game and 480i in-menus. EDIT: THIS IS INCORRECT - The GCN Collection is indeed 480i.
TheLastAnalogJunkie Well, the more you know. However, I do have a question if what you say is true. If the menu are 480i the actual games being 240p, then why with the Megaman X Collection, that should be doing the same thing, menus 480i, games 240p, then why does the Mega Collection show up just fine on my tv,but the X Collection wont. (Via Component) Perhaps to do with X collection being the Ps2 version opposed the orginal Mega Collection being Gamecube? (Well,on a backwards compatible Wii) Also, if the Sonic games are not in 480i,but 240p, then why does combing still show up?
Alucard I actually just went back into my Gamecube collection and checked to verify. The Gamecube version appears to indeed a solely 480i title. Apologies are in order to both you and MLiG, I must have had a Mandela Effect and confused it with another retro compilation or some false memory.
All I really need to know about these collections is--where the Tyris Flare at? Or where the Nei at? Or where the Rika/Fal at? I think you get the idea. Excellent as always, and thorough as all hell, but what I learned here that really hit me was that Sega owns the Technosoft IPs...what a damned waste indeed, so many excellent games and properties they're doing absolutely nothing with, getting nowhere, fast. I remember being so excited for that Dreamcast Smash Pack disc, as it was one of my earliest ebay purchases...then I played it, and I think with the exception of Virtua Cop 2, my ears bled for days...and VC2 may have been the only "pass" in the disc since it could have just been a direct localization of the standalone port released in Japan.
I have no interest in emulation tbh, prefer real hardware but I will admit the idea of a virtual 90’s bedroom has me feelin some type of way. Maybe if this comes to switch I’ll bite. I think there’s something more appealing about having all your games on that instead of having to travel with a Sega Nomad and a suitcase full of cartridges.
Whats the name of the game at 18:32 the green guy on the flying pink monkey. I remember playing that game on my cousins mega drive as a kid and I've been lookin for this game for years. Thanks.
I just got Monster Boy on PS3 recently. Why? Because I love Monster World IV! That’s my favourite Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game of all time! I like how Sega (also one of my favourite companies, I’ve been asking for Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 Remastered as well as Skies of Arcadia Remastered on PS4 and Switch as well as Steam. I accept them for who they are now, but let us not forget their hardware history, I love Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast, in my opinion, that was Sega’s best offerings for their hardware, don’t expect any new consoles from them but miniature classic consoles) is bringing back their history from generation to generation. We could’ve had a Sonic compilation on PS1 but Sega never did PS1 (I hope Sega regretted their insulting advertisement campaigns as they moved on to software working with their former rivals to this day), they did PS2, onwards. You need to update this once the Genesis/Mega Drive Mini comes out. I wanna see a comparison of that too, from the original Genesis all the way up to Sega Ages on Switch and the Genesis Mini. I really want a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini. (Love the Japanese box art and logo!) You should do a comparison with the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine with its new miniature version once it comes out! (Favourite game of all time for TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine is Ys I and II) What else I like about it is import not necessary unless there’s a particular model you want (I do like what Europe and Japan have but sticking to the US version simply because).
I'm most interested in Landstalker, I already pretty much have most of these games on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. I played and really enjoyed Landstalker back in the day, but I never finished it. I'm actually playing Alundra right now, which from what I hear is like a spiritual successor to Landstalker. So I'll be waiting for a very big sale.
Here's an extra bit of info regarding Sonic Mega Collection since I've tinkered with all three versions: The Xbox version is backwards compatible on Xbox 360 and the GameCube version can be forced to display in 480p or 240p using Swiss. The GameCube version in 480p is super sharp, sharper than the PS2 version and I think a little sharper than the Xbox version on 360. It's probably about as good as the virtual console releases on Wii. Also, the GameCube version in 480p is one of the best ways to play Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
So with the sega mega drive classics collection, I have a question with the presets. Going to talk with nintendo layout in mind. Is there a layout where A=A, B=B, X=X, Y= Y, R=C and L=Z? I have an 8bitdo m30 and was wondering if I could do it without using the switch's button remapping feature
Awesome SEGA video. Could you please do an in depth review for the Street Fighter 30th Collection like you did here. That would be great because I need to know what is the best screen settings to use. Your review would be a big help to the FGC (fighting game community). Please consider it and keep up the great work like always.
Wonder Boy is a fantastic franchise that has been getting a crazy amount of love with 3 games over the last 5 years being released and a new one thats a true sequel is onits way hopefully this year .. cant effing wait.. i refuse tobuy a Switch for a physical copy of monsterboy I will as its cheaper than a PS4
Would love to see some more videos like this looking at various company's retro collections. Midway and Taito have done a fair few for example. Would be neat to look at how they hold up against the originals.
That music stuttering in Phantasy Star... if your set on doing it 100% legally, just buy it on PC, extract the roms, then use KEGA Fusion or Retroarch. Everyone should pretty much own a laptop or PC with HDMI out now, so you can still play them on your TV if you just must do that.
Exactly the kind of in depth review I was looking for on this collection. Fantastic job!
I'm embarrassed to admit that today is the first time I've come across your channel. After watching the amount of work you put into this excellent video, I had no choice but to subscribe. Fantastic work! 👍🏻

oh interesting, and you can buy them piecemeal! That's really cool, thanks for the suggestion.
@@BearsinGamesNeo-qt5ww No Problem, just note that the Sonic Games were Delisted when Origins came out, but everything else is still there
I like the Steam version of this because it has rom hack support through Steam workshop. I've got Sonic 3 Complete and multiple Streets of Rage hacks that I'm technically playing officially. Also there's a handful of games for it only on Steam.
The M2 3DS Genesis games look so good in 3D it’s unreal!
I love the 3DS port of Outrun
It was kind of impressive how they did that. They basically mocked-up how 3D Genesis would function, and wrote their own emulator for it.
I think they may have forgotten to mention that the native screen resolution of the 3DS is precisely 240p, which adds to how absolutely stunning and literally pixel-perfect the games look. It truly is the best way to experience those few games today.

Are they still around? New i mean, obv?
I swear this is the best channel on RUclips.
Great review! Actually, THE review. You guys always give the definitive take on the subjects you cover.
@Jerome VV You need to actually watch the video, especially the part at 4:30. You'll follow-up with an apology, right?
[Coury] We tend to never call our stuff "reviews" because we'd rather show what the subject is, how it works and why it is the way it is. I remember renting a Sega Genesis from Blockbuster back in the day. NOW that was a sleep over, me and my best friend.
I absolutely love these videos !!! Congratulations My Life in Gaming !!!
Makes you wonder why Sega even bothers to get anyone other than M2 to do their compilations.
Thankfully M2 is handling the Switch versions. Worth the extra cost in my book.
Cause the recent release for ps4 and Xbox one is just a port of the pc version.
Indeed. Only M2 has gotten it right! And it's worth the money for their stuff.
There's also Christian Whitehead + Stealth for the mobile remasters of Sonic 1 & 2, as well as CD also for mobile as well as PS3/X360 and PC.
I always questioned this too. M2 is pretty much the best team when it comes to making compilations or re-releases of games released on Sega Consoles. Most underrated channel on RUclips IMO!!!!
Great stuff guys! I appreciate the clarity on what 'the best' are and it also shed light on why compilations I played in the past seemed blurry!
Now THIS is a review! Great job. The other reviews of this release pale in comparison.
Bought it few days ago for the Series X on offer for £6 I'm really enjoying it!! 👌
your clip just after 22:06 perfectly encapsulates the forced border problem, as that platform pops in from what your peripheral vision told you was clear... and i LOVE the 3DS ports! they're some of my most played games on my main 3DS, the three japanese cartridges make me want a japanese 3DS just for them. we only got the first here in the UK as well. If you are a retro gamer you need this channel in your life, I learned so much from this channel keep up the great work!
Awesomely done, as always. I still need to buy this for myself.
I was looking at buying this collection on Steam and I came across your video. I just wanted to say you did an amazing job and thank you. I will definately be checking out more of your vids!
I love this channel too much
I absolutely love these videos! Thank you guys so much for making them! I have already learned so much through your RGB videos and it has spurred me to continue my collection and preservation of classic gaming!

16:40 killed me. I wasn't ready to hear those kids yell like grown men. Lol
I just found your channel and recently purchased the Genesis collection. Subscribed dude. Great video :)
FYI The English version of Alien Soldier is 50hz. Change the region to Japan for 60hz.
6-pak cartridge for genesis was a great compilation, it had sonic, columns, shinobi, super hang on, golden axe, and streets of rage
The Steam versions of all of these games are fantastic as well, it was actually the basis for the PS4 and Xbox One compilation. The one on Steam however has even more options than any other compilation(however, it is JUST Genesis games and added features) and even more games.
Maybe it’s just me, but I found the Steam collection pretty laggy.
Matt Laub I don't recall this being an issue. However they give you the ROMs so you can just play them in any emulator.
In fact the steam version has support for steam workshop.
It was very laggy before the latest update, the one that added the same features as the console versions. Maybe they updated the emulator running the games.
I will have to log in and see if they updated my steam genesis collection. It's been awhile

M2 is truly the best.
Battle Garegga! Dangun Feveron!
SonicNights, are they? Is that confirmed?!
gingataisen, those M2 ShotTriggers are expensive, but totally worth it.
Excellent job on the video, really enjoyed it.
Thank you guys! Awesome as always. I would love if you guys went into Neo Geo compilations at some point. Especially with all those ACA ports coming out.

Also I really dig your room
Amazing review! Super detailed
Sweating in the game attic! You said in another video how hot that room gets haha

I love the UI of the Genesis Classis!! The scanline emulation is not the best but playable with some screen curvature but they should have proper CRT emulation. I have always wondered what 4K CRT emulation could look like if done right if they really tried to emulate the screen itself.
"Sonic Mega Collection" was actually the game that made me want to own a Nintendo Gamecube aside from "Super Smash Bros. Melee". ;)
You .... you ..... you just made a video of all sega Genesis collections
Or are there even more?
Wow, truly great video!
I do know that Sonic Classic Collection and the old SEGA PC port bundles weren't mentioned.
Sega was smart to give you guys a review copy. Not going to lie I'd be way more likely to buy one of these classic collections if it was MLiG approved.
I got a Genesis set that came with Sonic 1 for Christmas. My sister and I played the hell outta that thing.
I watch your videos all the time, but I wasn’t subscribed till now. Silly me!! You guys rock!!!💪🏼💪🏼😎
Just incredible how far we have come ever since 2000.
You guys are gonna make me come out with a rap album to that intro track, it's so dope!
Excellent stuff as always!
I honestly can't believe Sega would allow the Smash Pack for the Dreamcast to be released with the noise/sound like that. Whoever was in charge of that release really just didn't give a shit apparently.
I agree, that make me cringe when he "showed" the differences.
Wierd thing is: Yuki Enterprizes, the company responsible for the Sega Smashpack also had a hand with Samurai Shdown 5 for the Neo Geo Mvs/Aes.
Love this channel. you guys rock
Thank you for having a great intro
Sus vídeos son increíbles. Desde que descubrí su canal nunca más volví a ver a los videojuegos de la misma manera.
I have a PC collection from the 90s called Sega Smash Pack. It came with:
Altered Beast
Columns
Golden Axe
OutRun
Phantasy Star II
Revenge of Shinobi
Sonic Spinball
Vectorman
The emulation was decent for the most part, but the real oddity was Revenge of Shinobi was actually marketed as Super Shinobi.
It terms of compilations of sega genesis game's I only own the ones released for the playstation 2 and 3 and also the playstation 4 as well I'm most nostalgic for the playstation 2 version witch is how I discovered this consoles amazing library of game's in fact as I'm currently typing out this comment I'm actually playing the sega genesis collection for the playstation 2 I get very nostalgic memory's watching the intro sequence that showcases all of the games available in this collection
I also love the main menu theme that plays when you're choosing what game that you want to play what also makes this collection worthwhile
Is the addition of tips for each of the games as well as viewing there box artwork and also trivia and a detailed description of each of the games respective plotlines
It also contains extras a plenty and interviews as well in my opinion it is definitely an excellent collection of segas titles that where relased on the genesis and getting to play them on the playstation 2 is definitely a very uquinqe and enjoyable experience and will give major nostalgic memory's to those that original grew up with these games when they were originaly relased on the console itself
You know its a good day when mlig makes a emulator video
Nice transition to the intro 👌🏻
could you imagine if someone took all these most popular games & loaded them up with 4k textures & installed expanded storage on the carts
How does the PS4 / Xbox One version of the collection compare to the Steam one? IIRC the Steam version has that same bedroom menu selection mechanic, but is the emulation any different?
Dragon Quarter I wanted to know the same thing also. I reading the comments and no ones talkin about the ps4 version
love the genesis and loved collecting for it at one point but this will have to do or the wife will kill me nice review guys!
As always your channel guys is the best !!! I just really hope that you will do how to get the best picture out of SEGA DREAMCAST !!!
Sonic CD was the only port. It was on Xbox 360 & PS3. But Sonic 1 & 2 should have been ported.
Sonic CD has been ported to consoles & PC [ Steam ] sadly Sonic 1 & 2 not :(
The sound problems with the Phantasy Star games on XBO/PS4 got more prominent the longer you played. I found myself having to reset the console every couple of hours. I assume this probably holds true of other games too, but I didn't find myself playing them that long in one session.
Wake me when they release good ports of Saturn and Dreamcast games.
that will never happen.
same :(
Considering Sega Ages on Switch could be getting Saturn and Dreamcast titles in the future AND M2 is behind it, we might finally see some good SS/DC emulations.
Over used jokes these days...
well, we got Dreamcast collection for X-box 360 & PC years ago and Shenmue 1&2 HD collection recentely, now we have a hope to this became reality.
I play Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on an SDTV through composite. No forced borders at all. Yes!!
_This_ is a review. Well met, Corey.
Golden Axe Sega CD was 2-player. We played it all the time on my launch system.
TheLastAnalogJunkie No need to apologize, but I appreciate it regardless.
Here in PAL regions, the original Gamecube version is the only console release that allows 60hz play.
It could be worse, you could've bought the GBA version of Sega Smashpack... :barf:
Jimmy Hapa (Import Gaming FTW!) And where are the CD-I games? Am I right Jimmy?
shagriml PSP Collection was better for portable but to each their own.
Thanks.
Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair
What about the Steam versions?
Not gonna lie, the newest collection looks impressive. If I still haven't hooked up my old Genesis, I would've considered buying that collection.
You missed the Sonic Genesis Collection on the Original Nintendo DS :) cool video through ;) 😄👍
I just got Monster Boy on PS3 recently.
Is the SEGA Vintage Collection no longer available on PSN? Looking on the European Store I can only find Toe, Jam & Earl under that collection name.
I wonder, maybe it’s just improper emulation making the sample sound different. They seem to be the same sample just less compressed
Yes, the “Come on” and “Bare Knuckle” sounds cleaner and smoother on this collection.
Great review! Hmmm maybe the single release sega ages on the Switch is not a bad approach after all.
I have it in PS4 and I’m sure every game has some bad sound emulation.
How do I extract my steam genesis game collection into ROMs?
