- IN THIS VIDEO WE GO OVER MY TENANTIVE PLANS FOR THE KENWORTH K100E CAOVER ROLLBACK BUILD. I AM ON THE HUNT FOR SOME PIECES AND PARTS BEFORE WE CAN START. I GET A QUOTE FOR THE NEW FRAME RAILS AND......WELL WE WONT BE BUYING NEW! WE GET A REAL GOOD LOOK AT THE ENTIRE TRUCK AS WELL AS THE ENGINE I AM THINKING ABOUT USING. I CANT WAIT TO START ON THIS BUILD. I AM GOING TO FINISH UP A FEW LINGERING PROJECTS AND SELL THEM OFF ONCE THEY ARE DONE. THEN IT IS FULL STEAM AHEAD ON THIS ONE!
Couldn’t like this video fast enough who doesn’t love a cab over
They are cool until you get older unfortunately
JC
You are a gifted man. To be able to see the end product from where this begins, and have the knowledge, energy, and focus to see this through, is a very rare talent.
Must admit, i am a big fan of the cab overs. JC, is this a keeper? Looking forward to this series.
i need this truck to move my telehandler from property to property as well as moving trucks. so it will replace my 30ft freightliner rollback.
Really looking forward to the build on this one, Mr & Mrs Smith. You are a true artisan.
Nice find. Plenty of potential. Cant wait to see it done. Thanks for showing. Have a good day

Always interesting to see when you post a video how fast viewers respond to it . This will be an interesting project when it’s turn comes . Thanks for taking us along. Tom
My 1st new truck was a 1988 K100E. Man that thing was a dream to drive, 9 speed double overdrive. Hey with that long frame why not make it a twin Stick. With the 2nd being electric or air operated. 🤔
Dear J.C. Smith projects family.
👍👌👏 All you said sounds very promising. I already know that this will be another epic build series. Especially because you do it for yourself. I'm pretty impressed by the engine you have chosen. It responds very quickly to the throttle and seems really lively. Has no interfering noises, runs smooth and sounds really healthy. Congrats for owning it.
Hope that the cab has not too much rodent and water damage. Of course I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next video (regardless of the content).
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and especially health to all of you.
i dont know about epic.....but it sure will be long!
@@j.c.smithprojects
Not only in my opinion respectively not only for my kind of taste all your building projects are epic! Regardless if it is a premium chicken villa, an ingenious micro dump truck mod or... hey... just a moment! What about the raised garden beds for your great wife? When will we see this video? Or is it even a series? 😀😘😜😇
2) The longer the better, Sir! The more video parts, the longer I/we can watch your content.
3) Last but not least: Thanks for replying and especially for giving another heart. I always and totally appreciate both very much.
Sincerely yours.
Sir, you are a man after my own heart, who doesn’t see the value in an N14?!👍🏻
Love the cabover truck and the engine purrs like a kitten. This is going to be a awesome project when you start this one.
Great video J.C.Smith should be a great project for a rollback truck that you have wanted to build. Looking forward to your next video stay safe J.C.Smith.
Nice truck bring back memories
Can’t wait to see this project kick off! That interior has a ton of potential to look brand new again. Looking forward to it👍!
Will be a very cool build , thanks for sharing
Have you checked with Vicon fabricating in Mentor, Ohio for new frame rails? They tend to be much more reasonable than P.G. Adams.
they were more
That is gonna be a big job. I will watch every minute!!!
imagine the 1000's of hours in work it is going to take!
Can’t wait to see this thing in the shop.
Fresh off an epic frame stretch and build up to this. It;s gonna be good...
The tire dry-rot at 3:55 is crazy. Love your projects
Freightliner made a cab over car hauler that was super low in the 60s. Late '70s... Cab is well forward of the wheels.
Going to be a great series to watch. Good Luck and enjoy the build. Love Cab Overs
I always start with less. Thats a hell of a nice interior.
This is going to be a great project 😊
I love your projects.
That cabover is an awsome looking rig
Thanks for sharing
Looking forward to the video series on that
Safe travels
Hi j c looking forward to this build as someone said who doesn't love a cab over I will be following you all the way on this build take care 😊
Hope the search for parts is going well!
There is a rather untapped area if you're looking for a parts truck (or a complete truck for that matter) is the greater Spokane Washington area as well as northern Idaho around Coeur D'Alene Idaho area. There is no salt used on the roads, but they use crushed gravel on the corners and hills for traction.
Good candidate for a truck. It's a great video . Have a great evening JC
sounds like you have a great plan... looking forward to this one.
it going to be a long project for sure. have to clean out the shop to have enough room. its amazing how much room parts take. thing=king of getting a shipping container to put all the parts in as i take it apart.
@@j.c.smithprojects you could look for a old dry van as well and pull the axles out to set it on the ground
Sweet can't wait to start watching this build!!!!
Great video we will have to be patient to see the end product.
cool beans mister that thing will be great
Looking forward to this build! I always loved the looks of the Aeromax for what ever reason. Thanks for taking the time to making the video.
Wish you luck that's a big ass job your taking on 👍
Not sure if the same in the USA but we had the 14-litre NTE320 and NTE350 followed by the NTAA365/410, the numbers being rated horsepower (obviously!). The 320 is legendary for being the closest that anyone has got to an eternal engine, it’s almost impossible to kill and the 350 gained a decent reputation too. The air-to-air intercooled 365 developed a reputation for being way too thirsty for its capabilities but the 410 pretty much hit the sweet spot and is still highly regarded. Decent choice of motor there, JC 😎
I enjoy all of your videos and builds, however I *cannot wait* for this series J.C! 😁👍 Gunna be the ultimate rollback truck 🔧🔩
Hi Zane !!
@@haroldphipps3457 hey there! 🖐😁
Nice choice to build that K100 J.C.! Love that old iron. I think the N14 is a great choice. Hard to beat an all mechanical Cummins. You could have the pump gone through and turned up a little if you wanted to, by a company like Area Diesel Service. They do really good work on the injection pumps. Along with some larger injectors you could have quite a bit more power in the future if you decided you wanted/ needed the extra grunt. That thing fires right off for sure! You weren't kidding, plus it looks like it doesn't even smoke one bit, which you know is pretty rare with most Cummins especially on a cold start. I can only imagine the amount of action that big old sleeper/ bunk has seen!!!! LOL i bet the lot lizards called that thing "a palace!" 😂😂 Im sure the wife will be suited up when she cleans that thing 😆 Thanks for sharing, and i can't wait to see this thing get put together! 👍
i will run the cpl on the engine and see what hp is safe for its internals. if it isnt able to be bumped enough, i will pick another engine. 400 and above would be the goal.
@@j.c.smithprojects
Good move J.C. I'd do the same. That thing really does run well though, plus it's nice it's got the Jake's too. Excited to see what you do sir! 😎
mechanical is simple. simple is reliable.
I'm already in love 😍😍
😎you will definitely do it justice JC!
The cabover is going to real good truck when you finish long built . Just waiting on video of the build
Those old ford aero were nice looking trucks!
FUEL TANKS. If you can find a late 90's Freightliner FL106, they had rectangular tanks about that size, 100-ish gallons iirc.
That N-14 sounds good 👌
Hello from the Netherlands.
a Nice and exciting rebuild in the future in prospect I can't wait for the videos of it .
I Like how you build those trucks. thought about everything well in advance and thought out how you want it TOP 👍
thanks for the video JC .
Sincerely Hollandduck
great video thanks for sharing
Gotta save that second Cabover. She deserves a new life also
it will be used as a wrecker and a road tractor.
I have to admit. I’ve been waiting since you brought that T600 home for it to make a reappearance. It’s going to break my heart to see it parted out but seeing the K100 brought back to life is worth the wait
im not taking that t600 apart. just going to measure it for reference. i cant decide what to do with that truck...
That n-14 mechanical is a nice engine. I am sure there would be room to pep it up a little bit. I wonder on the jake switch if they replaced it with the wrong switch. Maybe put in a on-off-on instead of a 3 position
Smart move brother
The Southern trucks all are heading across the border. I’m currently staying in New Mexico along I-10 and you see stuff heading to the border every day.
Gonna be a sweet build, wish i lived closer to lend a hand in the build. Have you seen Rich @Deboss Garages Kenworth cab over tranfer truck? It is a epic build. Can't wait to watch the progress. Y'all take care.
i did. i believe mine will be far more involved. hopefully less expensive as well.
Sounds good
Some of those old nine speeds you could flip the last two gears around and make em an overdrive. Big hole against the dash.
i have heard that. i would like a 13 spd. i hope to travel around the country to pick up some cool trucks. so i want good power and lots of gears for the different regions.
You should look for a couple of daylight doors that would be cool.
Oh yeah that's the truck u should fix is the l9000 love those 855 an the old fords
Too bad that the day of a glider is not viable as I have been led to believe. In the sixties to seventies even we could get a cab and frame and then put our running gear in it. Cabin was wired to your engine including mounts for the engine and transmission. John Story down in Tennessee can answer any question you have on what fits what as his knowledge of stuff is just phenomenal
I’m excited to see the Pete, C-10, C4500, mini truck, trailer , and this one completed! Project overkill if it’s going to be videoed
yes. it will all be on video...then sold.
I feel like JC won the lottery and bought a salvage yard. I want to be like JC!!!
hello jc and mrs.smith its is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks and good luck jc and mrs. smith on the kenworth k100 cabover rollback and i hope will go good for jc and mrs.smith thanks ( paint colon candy red or nave blue ) thanks beats randy
The n14 can have its power turned up anyways have turned at lot of them up to 450hp
Hi jc looking forawrd to this project i agree with which truck to use an motor . Cheers mate🇦🇺
My wife and I just love how no project scares this guy… he’s always like “yeah just lil of this? Lil if that, no biggie”… problem is we’re never gonna be able to get my project in his garage if he keeps taking on more n more stuff… 🤦🏼
With your expertise JC it shouldn't take too long.
everything i so takes forever....either im getting slower or more particular.....maybe both!
Can’t wait
COOOOOOOOOL!!!!!
8 bag is definitely a lot of moving parts. But they ride good and they … articulate?. Better and do better on rougher conditions (coming from hauling cattle off farms and ranches)
I’d be interested in the roof air deflector if you are removing it
yep. its coming off.
How are you making out on the kodiak?
videos will come after the pete is done and gone.
Those blue stripes shout Con-Way, but they did not have interior that nice or jakes on their trucks. Could have just been a cab donor
The Red one
Negatory on converting that particular 9 speed to a 13 speed
i have been looking around. a red top n14 and 13spd just came available. going to see if i can make the deal.
I wish you were closer i have alot of parts
might make a road trip for the right parts and price!
One in the back is cooler it has the set forward steer axle.
they are both set back axle trucks
There is NO redeeming value to the KW 8 bag air ride!!!
Seems to me it was designed by the grandson of whoever designed the KW torsion bar suspension.
I think your idea of leaving the steer axle back, and using a curved end bumper would be cool.
A friend has a semi tractor with a 9 speed, and backed it up with a 4 speed auxiliary. The lower side of the auxiliary gets him the grunt for hauling grain out of the fields, and helps in some farm yards where he loads cattle.
Then he gets an overdrive. Might be handy with your low pro tire program.
shifter might get interesting for an auxillary box on a cabover.
@@j.c.smithprojects yes it would!
At one time I a had a shifter for a 3 speed auxiliary in a cabover Freightliner dad had.
Wassup
Deff needs a NRC 40tb or 30tb
cant afford that. i have a 28ft jerr-dan 15 ton.
😎👍
Hey Jc do you still have this truck I have a customer that needs a fuel tank and exhaust stack maybe some other little things
The l9000
i do. i have another l series that has good left and right tanks.
i know its a long way but i have a good friend that works at a used truck dealership in Alabama he runs into a lot of used parts trucks don't know if you could save enough to drive here if you are interested i could put the 2 of you together
if i cant source what i need...i may just end up far away.
That's a progressive 9speed
Bet it's slow lol I needs some seats an all interior in mine
Just put 2 frames together.
i am hoping i dont need to do that.
Given the cost and complexity of the emissions garbage on new trucks every old rig put back on the road is a benefit to the normal working folks in the US today… Now if only the truckers would boycott California… 🤷♂️
Burn the mattress.
A 3D printer would solve the missing switch panel
In kodiak Ak that l9000 would still be being used kid you not
You wife all ways gets the trim sparkling ever time
Shame about any vehicle the body can be rusty and running gear great or the other way round uou can't win most time's
It's ok I really don't care for it myself
""ALL OF THETIME ANDMONEY-THATGOES INTO THRESTORATION AND RECOVERY, ""PARTS AND LABOR ANDCOST TO RESTORE A DOWNED-ABANDONED VEHICLE THAT SOMEBODY OWNED AT ONETIME, ""OUTDATED AND OXIDATED OVERTIME""!!!!!!!!
I want that wind deflector on roof and brackets !! Australia
Send me your email. Have a place down here by Dallas thet may have the front drop axle and the Pete low or low low leaf air. He is also a old school Cummins man be a good connection for you.
