This doesn't sound very nice to say but I loved how by the end you were practically in tears. I love how spontaneous and organic your reactions are. It's better than being confined to a script.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa the backbone of Indian classical music is actually are conceived from the sound of nature.
Shadaja (Sa); the rapturous sound of the peacock when rain clouds gather in the sky
Rishabha (Re); the bellowing of a cow when her calf is separated from her
Gandhara (Ga); the bleating of a goat in a flock
Madhyama (Ma); the cry of a heron
Panchama (Pa); the sound of the Indian Kokila (nightingale) in spring
Dhaivata (Dha); the neighing of a horse
Nishada (Ni); the trumpeting of an elephant
So yeah..thats why when we listen to any Indian classical music it gives a feel of fullness around us.
& even more. All the Indian instruments play the different positive role in our body & mind.
When you are too stressed & tensed then just listen to the flute it will calm your brain & mind.
If you are tired then listen to the Sitar or Sharengi. They work as great energiser.
If you want to meditate then listen to the Bina.

You're right Eastern music seems tougher and emotions oriented. Though the instrumental side of western music has soothing aspects meant for heart. And I am so happy Tushar Lall and his team are getting their due recognition.
