I also have the F90. I traded up from the F80. Hands down the best car. And my kids are 20 and 23 so I don’t need the space. I disagree about the startup sequence. I love the loud sound. It makes a beautiful symphony and when the valet pulls it up I already know it’s my car and he gets out with a huge smile on his face too. And yes I replaced the coolant tank once. I hope I don’t need to do it again. IMHO the only problem is that since the new M5 is so heavy and larger I will be keeping this one for a long time.
I also went with this one car fits all solution for my work, family and some nürburgring trips etc. Mine is also Marina Bay blue and stage 2 tuned with MHD but with coldstart tuned off it sometimes has some hickups at startup which has been reported multiple times by other owners so I turned it back on. What you can do with the oem cold start is start the car and immediately drive off or put the handbrake on and the revs and noise come down alot. Mine is going in tomorrow for the coolant tank and injectors recall (changed the first leaking tank already myself). It now has 140k km (85k miles) and I should sell it now but I just can't part with it, there is no other car like this for this amount of used car value. I drive it in RWD manual (M1) most of the time but I have drift background so it's fun. Only when it's wet and you want a quick take off at the red lights you really need 4WD to be king of the road. :D
@@TommyLGarage I'm from Belgium and the road are much worse here, it's the reason my car isn't lowered and I drive with only 2.3 bar in the tyres. Only one hour away from Germany and 2 from the 'Ring so can't complain. :D BTW maybe interesting for fellow f90 M5 owners: went in for the recall today and they found nothing and changed nothing, It had the correct and most recent part number bc I did change the leaky coolant tank myself last year with the newest part number and added some 2-component glue to the seams myself so it holds up well I guess.
Cold start solution for these cars (owned two F90s and now drive an M550): upon starting the car, immediately put it in drive and the RPMs will drop to idle. You can wait for the cold start cycle to complete and then drive off with much less noise.
I have ALWAYS said the same thing with my vehicles, “I’m keeping THIS one for LONG time.” None of my cars have ever made it to the 2 year mark LOL. Glad you’re enjoying yours though! Sometimes it takes awhile to appreciate what you have, good to see you’ve settled in with the M5. Looks and sounds amazing!
With the cold start, I give it just 2 seconds when I switch on the car, put it in gear, and drive. Still is loud though. I live in an apartment block so.. sorry neighbours 😅 When you’re out and about though it just turns heads on start up!
Ever since I drove that car at the M driving experience I fell in love it is truly the best car I've ever driven. And I've driven McLaren, all the other M cars, and Audi rs models. I think porsche gt cars or Ferrari would be better but I haven't found out yet.
Just insane how fast a year has gone! Still one of my dream cars. I want to trade in my F80 for one of those but not in my current budget ! Glad you’re still enjoying her!
@@TommyLGarage You , Justin Bice and Kies were so helpful in educating me on BMW's that I took the plunge 2 yrs ago when I got my M4. I couldn't be happier.
I can imagine the cold start being rather loud with the mid pipe and dinan muffler. I enjoy an aggressive cold-start, however, with the context you provided, I bet it is a bit unsettling. Beautiful spec, clean build, and great coverage. I aspire to be an F90 owner one day. Until then, me and my e92 will enjoy our cold starts and fart noises.
I have to say TLG the upgrades and options you've bestowed on this car are perfect. It is a one-size-fits-all. And I love the swag it has. It has this don't F with me vibe. It's got that muscle car thing mixed with ultra comfortably deep technology vibe ability. It sits perfectly at the crossroads of high technology and analogue driving pleasure. The dash and screens are just right you have actual controls instead of a big useless slab of an infotainment screen. And here's the thing I'm presently optioning an M2 I have an Xdrive F31. My wife has a 530e in your shape. The problem I have is 😊I don't want a new G31 I prefer the shape and options of my F31 which has a 6wb cluster and drives nice and gives me nearly 300bhp. But I want something with more grunt. But I don't want a slab of an infotainment screen. What I've realised is I think the only car out there right now that ticks all the boxes for grunt, beastly performance, and analogue driving characteristics. Elegance with crazy luxury options & 4WD is your car. So I'm gonna test drive some cars this week new shape M2 M240 xdrive M230 and the new M5 and M5 touring. My wife's 530e hybrid has opened my eyes to the money you can save. Not filling your fuel tank for 3 months doing a 40-mile daily (paying 7 cents or pence in 🇬🇧 per kw) round trip to work has converted my beliefs about hybrids. I love your M5 and so do you. Enjoy every second. And keep the updates coming. Peace and love.
My 2023 F90 is hands down the best and fastest car I’ve owned. Also in NJ. Have the full M Performance Carbon but mine is Imola Red and will be on display at the VDC this Saturday. If you can’t make that, join us at Sunday Motor Company the today at 8am.
My 23 LCI M5 I’ve had for near 7 months now, I’ve come from 2 G80 Competiton xDrive’s. The G80 is a great car, but you have to add a midpipe maybe even Downpipe, etc. As well as the cosmetics of the G80, you have to spend some decent $ to get it looking good in my opinion. Funny enough I bought TLG’s mudflaps for my first G80 when I lived in the Midwest (work great). The F90 out of the box is just so much better, the look is true to an M5, the interior is true to the M5 heritage everything about it. Yeah the S63TU4 has its kinks but so does every motor, the solution go get an upgraded tank. I’ve just lowered my car on KW HAS and I’m super pleased with the results. I also have a Dinan X-Pipe which changes the tone but makes it a little louder, perfection. Personally the F90 in my opinion is on of the best cars you can get for $100,000. If going balls to the wall for tuning is more your style get a G80 then, but when you do the same treatment to an F90 it’s insanity.

Have you driven a CT5V Blackwing? I think that is probably the perfect family hauler as it comes with a great manual. That said, this is a beautiful car and love stealthy cars such as this.
Looks great! I don't understand the transmission, 8-speed. It has a final drive of 3.154 and 7th is 0.823 and 8th is 0.640, which makes them useless. You would be going 100-mph at 1800-rpm in 8th. Have you looked into regearing? It would be a rocket with 4.88s. It's funny how manufactures promote 8 and 10-speed gearboxes when there is actually no need.
I have a 2020 M5 not the competition with about 16,500 miles and I love the car. But I was wondering if it is worth it to trade it for a 2023 CPO M5 Comp Brooklyn Gray Metallic with the Silverstone Interior with about 9,500 Miles. The asking price is 105K. What are your thoughts.
