A point. "Fixture" would be a better translation for Karl XII's nickname in Turkish "Demirbaş". Even though its literal translation is indeed "iron head", "demirbaş" means immoveable inventory stock in Turkish. They called him "Demirbaş" since he refused to leave the castle on his own.

@@silverphoenix111 Yup. But Tolkien did have a large chunk made already, which he had been working on over the years. I think his son just had to make an ending for the book (aside from all the editing he had to do). Fantastic book.
@@TheOneBearded yes it is fantastic. I think that Tolkien wanted to do an individual book for each the three main stories (Beren and Luthien, Children of Hurin and the fall of Gondolin) but I am not sure.

You could read the Children of Hurin and be fine not knowing about what Melkor/Morgoth did or Feanor. That's probably why some ppl didn't like it as much. The book isn't written as a single narrative with a singular goal like his other two works. Honestly, it why I like it more. It fleshes out the setting.
