// My Story
I am currently a software developer who once modeled and thought I wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. While I was modeling in Hong Kong, I eventually felt the desire to further my education. I decided to depart the modeling world and move back to Canada, knowing that could be the end of my modeling opportunities. I attended Ryerson University for GCM (Graphic Communications Management), as I thought I might still work in the fashion industry in another capacity. It was in my last year of university, I was introduced to a very basic coding course. I instantly fell in love. From there I knew I wanted to pursue software development but didn't have a clue where to start. I didn't want to go back to university as I just completed a four-year degree. I decided to enroll in a 10-week intensive coding Bootcamp. From there I started working at a small startup learning and growing my technical and soft skills. I then transitioned to a larger company where I am a software developer and technical consultant today.
Future-Ready Careers: Embracing Tech & AI Evolution to Stay In-Demand

Actually, it's quite the opposite.
A. It was never a singleton carrier. Educated pro is capable of cross-platform thinking anyway. So the mentioned hier class is the one who jumped in on the wave of hype or accidentaly to make some cash. They are not needed anyway. I have never seen a physicist who wouldnt be able to explain to chemistry guy something he heard from a Chemiker,while working on the same project. Reason: they all have the same academical foundation,they all shared the same classes at the beginning ,they all can speak math. So its a wrong terminology here. If html your only skill ( literally like that,not the 1st/2nd order logic or set theory etc ,but literally " i learned html/java/ hunting rabbits) of course your value is 0 ,you are not a valuable unit.
Trying to become a good at chemistry ,physic ,cs and something else ,well,hope you have extra 100 years for that. Is a stupid idea,gonna end being useless at all of them. There are no really honestly trained specialists capable of doing one thing only,they focus themselves on something because they want this or it is a demand wright now at this moment ,but they can allways switch to something else. Pick an area you really like ,get a deeeep understanding there. Tasks are more and more demanding and spezialisation is more appreciated as ever.
B. It's getting harder to get into tech (thank God) simply because the quick and dirty approach doesn't have value anymore. Starting with the most misguided, and thanks to that, popular sentence: "learn to code." It's the last thing you actually do. After all the concepts and planning, math, and algorithmic understanding, only then do you translate all this into code. So,again just "coding" or knowing "what to type in to see something as a result, hoping it'll work" is basically a tool, like speaking or knowing how to make tea, and yes, it devalues. What is really needed and becomes essential is an understanding of all these processes, and you will only get this after learning a lot of complementary stuff, most of which has been available for quite a while, since the times of Pythagoras or Riemann. It was never easy, and there's no way to get it cheap. A hardcore degree is the only way. I hope this tech fairy tale will end soon. It's ending already. I literally don't need 22 code monkeys anymore, and yes, we're also letting them go, like most companies. And yes, we do not hire people without a proven academic background. As it should be.
So jack of all trades, master of none or maybe master of one is finally going to shine in the coming years.
Thank you first. Tiffany, Human mind some time to process the data. Staying focus is a real problem in today life. Focus is the key to learn something. Smart management of your brain will be the real key in future.
The video is great, as always, but I want to know what are the implications of these trends for us college grads who are just getting done with college and want to get a job, or at least an internship ???
I think the most important thing is being open to continuous learning. Focus on what you are interested in and you will naturally evolve with the tech! What did you go to college for btw?:)
Thanks. That was a good one. :) It's amazing though to see how things have changed so much only within this last year! I am excited for this upcoming year.
right!? So much has changed so quickly! I hope you had a great week btw!
SOME of these things I've already stated, but these things are important to think about, AS WELL/ALONG WITH, MY PREVIOUS COMMENTS, IF you want to evaluate, THE WHOLE problem/situation, things like, what we are seeing now, is just the beginging of AI/Automation/Machines/Robot implementation/at some point, it will evolve past a tool and become a replacer, of all jobs, except for the roles I previously listed, so other things to think about is, what is the point of money, at a certain point/we don't need a universal basic income, all we care about is the item/items/goods/service; AI isn't necessarily needed, for automation/job loss/Automation/IFTTT/If This Than That/IF its raining, don't turn on the sprinklers, IF the temperature gets above X, turn the AC on/turn the fans on, machines/automation/IFTTT can do A LOT, WITHOUT AI; Also unions/SAG, is kind of obsolete, when there is no jobs for humans to fill; Also with enough IFTTT/ If This Than That added, the system can be automated to a really high level, also with networking/self healing/self security/anomaly detecting/detection type Networking AI,that is now being used or even IFTTT, A LOT/ A TON can be automated, if certain things are added, within IFTTT, such as, IF a certain color in a medical picture/scan, is present, it means X/output X/do X, or IF a certain amount of blood flow is detected/ heart rate, is detected/ blood pressure is detected and so on is detected, this is optimal/good OR bad, with enough optimization AI isn't even necessarily needed, but if you ALSO add AI to the equation, its check mate for human jobs, although, A LOT more ALSO goes into the equation/humans aren't COMPLETELY predictable and also its hard to know exactly which way the majority of businesses/government will sway, in their beliefs/what they want to do/vote to do, so A LOT COULD happen, but it also depends on how/what humans/businesses/ government decides to do/these decisions determine how things actually play out, but these are scenarios/potential outcomes/a moneyless autonomous world, buisness relize there is no money in AI/machines/robots, because humans/employees purchase products, not AI/robot and people need jobs/money to purchase products/goods and services OR a resistence type group is developed, that are trying to destroy, power stations/server buildings/AI, to prevent AI/robots from being used, like I said, the out comes depends on how humans react, our next evalutionary step, is deffinitly an Automated-Post-Scarcity-Society, IF we dont destroy our selves/earth first and we NEED to become an intersteler species and we need to learn how to take care of worlds too.
An Automated-Post-Scarcity-Society,MIGHT be where we go from here;
The Society im trying to define is one where AI/Robots/automation is involved,without any money involved,but ecological/certain materials/elements,would be hard to come by/limited, but everyones basic needs would be handled/met and MAYBE SLIGHTLY more than basic needs,if certain things are available and everyones basic needs are met for that month,certain other items might also be available,but everything would be done autonomously/automatically/without human intervention, mostly,other than,government,voting systems/congress,Mayors,governor's,presidents,regulating/regulation,consulting, ethical decision making/systems/optimizing the autonomous manufacturing and delivery systems/infrastructures,to make it better/also to mitigate/avoid/minimize harm,that comes from the over all system/unforseen/foreseen harm/analytics,to a degree/most AI systems are designed to be as efficient as possible/its not necessarily designed to look at certain things,an example of this would be,if someone killed off all of one animal,the animal that the extinct animal ate,could over populate, and in turn kill off another animal,because the animals food supply could become limited,due to over population,this is just one example of adverse effects that need to be found/prevented/mitigated; Also technological/ecological advancements would be valued/anything that betters the over all system,also all of these changes/improvements/advancements,creates new variables and COULD cause damage,so these type things also need to be analyzed, but most tasks/jobs would become completely autonomous.
It’s crazy how many skills are needed and how quickly requirements can change. Add that companies don’t want people without super specific experience and we’re in a constant dance with the job market! 😤😤😤
After working in one of the leading institutes for optics and photonics for over 20 years, I decided to switch career (IT or another, this is one of the reasons I love this channel, BTW) and can tell, that quantum computers will not outperform conventional silicon computers in the next 50 years!. )) due to some there are some fundamental limitations. One can find a number of discussions by quite knowlegeable scientists out there... Of course, those academic people who live on multimillion grants for decades will try to prove that the times of the quantum computers are around the corner...(Otherwise, it's a great topic to discuss, but let's be real )))
I think open to gaining new skills is similar to adapting to the times. Like culture, politics, fashion, etc.
I’ve tried chatgpt I asked it stupid questions, but then about career and business related matter! 🤭 yet don’t know how to bust its brains out more!, . Can you train us??
Could not agree more that IT is NOT a single INDUSTROY
Is Software Engineering Good Career in Future Can I Pursue??
Yes!I think it definitely is -- it will evolve and grow over time and people building tech will remain very important in my opinion!
Hi Tiff your statements are very true, keep learning never hurts and it will give opportunities for sure! I am a swift software developer but currently learning low code software development visually which are much more faster than traditional coddling way.
Thank you!! I hope you had a great week!
@@TiffInTech thank you! You are a great!
chicken liver and intestines tasty for me
Thoughts on DA or BI analysts roles? Want to start on that and possibly work my way up to BI Developer or wherever my career leads me in the coming years.
Very oversaturated
I hope I'm not in my current role in 4 years because I'm currently unemployed lol
haha! You wont be, you got this!!
