Congratulations to all the musicians who had the balls to comment asking for people in the area to jam with them - well done the industry needs more people like you :-)
Chappers, you got a couple of guitars in your little collection. I wondered if you own anything by Suhr? Bought a left handed Classic Antique the other year and it frustrates the shit out of me. One day it feels like the best thing I've EVER played, the next like I wish I'd bought something else. Just can't put my finger on it and i respect what you say about guitars, music etc. love your videos and those with the Capt. All the best
+Rob Chapman what happened to the Ml1 Hot Rod? I first saw it in a rob scallion video and thought it was really cool, and promptly found out that it was out of production. Why is this?
There was a pub in my town, which had open jam sessions every Wednesday evening. Anyone could come in, bring in his/her instrument of choice, and play along with the others. While this was an awesome idea, it had some drawbacks as well - there were some people who couldn't behave, had to overpower everybody with their amps, and wanted to play music in which the majority was not interested. They appeared and disappeared quickly however. There were at least two or three bands, which have either got together, or got new members via these events, and eventually that's how I got into a band, which was my first, long lasting band membership :) We've even recorded an album, which I mixed, mastered, and made the cover art for (Logic and Photoshop skills ftw) and it was an awesome experience. Wish that place (and the band) would still exist.
I absolutely love the genuine passion this guy has for helping out other people like that. very insightful and to the point. This guy will always have my business.
is it possible to form a band of begginners (knowing basic chord and power chords and basic soloiong with minor/major pentatonic scale) to play with just for fun?
Rob Chapman - Moral father of many bands to come, constant inspiration for musicians and Mr. Nice guy all around. This world loves you and needs you, Rob.
He just means if you don’t want to be in a band with a bunch of people and bass is still the bass of all the band and is very important but you can just get a tone on guitar to make it like there is a bassist if there isn’t but bass is still cool and good to have a member of the band to play it
im pretty sure chappers is my new favorite guitar player. i've been watching your videos daily. it started from randomly finding your dragon diatonic sweeping video when as a blues player i decided i wanted to learn some sweeping. since then i've really learned a lot from you chappers. so thanks for posting all these videos and being so active on youtube. you rock
Great post, intro jam and ice lolly, Chappers! There is also a website called bandmix that is kind of like a "dating site" for musicians. I have had a few paid gigs through there.
Been struggling in the small town grind for a long time. It's so hard to break out of this isolated bubble. I will take your advice to heart Rob and I hope it leads me to the people I wanna meet. God bless
Hey, why not comment right? My name's David, I'm a singer, going to school way up in northern New York. I'd love to start a band with influences from rock and R&B. I love layering my voice, creating intricacies in an R&B style, with some riffs and runs. I'd love to combine that with a hard, alternate, or post-grunge rock sound. This probably won't get any traction but I just wanted to put myself out there. Thanks for reading.
Band needed: I need 2 guitarists, 1 bass, 1 drummer My role: I'll be the guy doing interviews when you are famous, saying "I was in the band once, right at the start" :P
Top tip to find singers, especially female singers; Put up a wanted add in a dance center or a gym. Lots of people like to sing and dance and they go to all sorts of fitness places and maybe do some AmDram , but you will never find them hanging around in music stores. There is a sort of Theatrical type that is quite different to the Musician type and the combination can make for a great band.
Hi Rob, as a recovering alkie I can recommend AA as a source of musos. Seriously, it's full of good musos. Done more gigs since joining AA than I've done for years. It's an extreme measure but has worked for me.
I met my band at a l jam session in a local pub, which takes place every month. We just played a few random (at least for me ^^) songs together and realized quickly, that we enjoy the same kind of music. :) Our drummer is actually three times as old as I am (I'm 18), but he such a cool guy and a badass drummer as well :3 So, for those of you who are looking for band members of any kind: I'm sure you are gonna find a band to be happy with :-)
Thanks Rob.Inded, I need to start writing down my music, as well as learn to drive and master doing the album making technology.I been playing guitar for three years.
Another thing taht Iwould say, si to pay attention to good music. Sometimes you are walking by a Beach, or a street with many pubs, you hear a live group or band playing nicely, or a band with a really good Bassist and is IMPRESSIVE how many musicians will go there with the same purpose to listen to these guys). All of us give hours and years of attention to our instruments, Is a connection that we make with each other (evenby doing that alone). I've met really skilled guitarrists at Reggae street music performances, band shows, small (and good) youtube video channel comments, and just yesterday I've got to talk hours with a guy on Malmseen, picking, Kotzen, Hexafonic scales and all whatnots and guess what, met him because heard him playing good music at a beach pub. (Yeah, a Yngwie an playing beach music, ut again, the style does not matter as the artist soul can transcend it)
Hey Rob here's a question I have: How do you handle, deal with, improve the situation of calluses on your fingers (or lack thereof aka dealing with pain on your fingertips)? Are there any strategies or techniques, or is it just a matter of playing all the time?
41DegreesSouth hmmmmmmmmmmmm, that whole "getting blisters" part sounds pretty painful. If I practice 2 hours I'm not even close to getting blisters...
do everything, try everything as much as a you can, I ended up stumbling into writing backing tracks and doing solo rock gigs, but still dep with bands, and always on the lookout for a decent drummer bass player and keys player to form the ultimate covers band in Essex.. but main thing, don't just play guitar in a band, especially if you're doing this full-time, do everything you can..
The thing is for me, I'm hesitant to ask musicians that are total strangers to me. And hardly any of my friends play instruments nor do music at all. :-(
Rob's hit the nail on the head about online collaboration. I live in Malaysia and have done an overdub session with a producer in New York where I was recording directly into Reaper with the producer listening tro what I was playing via Skype. Incredibly productive!
How to form a band: Quit playing guitar and play drums. There aren't enough fucking drummers in my area! If you're a guitar player and you're anything less than a virtuoso, you're fucked.
+Taylor Shapiro A (pretty good) bassist offered me the lead guitar spot in his band after watching my rig entry. It was pretty flattering, but he lives in Texas, so I didn't accept.
Thanks Rob. What you said about meeting people is very true. I play guitar and keyboards (many genres) and live in Florida. If anyone would like to collaborate I'd love to hear from you.
i have to disagree with the beginning already there is no way on earth or in space you could replace a good bassist by doing cheap tricks like splitting your signal imagine how iron maiden would sound without steve harris and with dave murrays guitar an octave lower instead ugh
I think you're missing his point. Which is anything is possible with todays technology. Yeah it wont replace a full, live band, but making and performing music doesn't require it anymore.
The point is, most bassists suck, because the instrument keeps getting treated as the second place instrument. "We have too many guitars, you play bass."
you can , I am left handed and play right handed , no fancy jimmm or stevie stuff , playing 4 ways , but I sing left handed , took me 7 years to learn my first riff , then it took me 1 year to learn to sing and play at the same time , if there is a will there is a way
Rob I met you briefly last week when you, Lee and Rabea were in the store. It was a massive moment for me to meet you all! Not only meet you all but play a guitar I dreamed of playing since I was 16 where I kinda found my own love for music and moved away from the lessons I had. You and Rabea both surprised me by saying I should be in a band and to be honest I didn't know what to say, but in all honesty with that happening that is a birthday I will never forget thanks to you guys!PS. Sorry I freaked out after seeing you and messed up the riff!
I disagree with your point about bassists, i may be biased but to me having a dynamic bassist who is strong rhythmically and melodically you can cut a drummer out and maybe even rythm guitar, yes royal blood have worked without a guitarist, yes other bands have done exactly as you said but nothing can beat having a living breathing bassist who can give an extra layer of texture and dimension to the music
In my area, it is all just rap, and assorted gangbangers who have never heard real music in their lives. Only one venue played rock and metal, but that shut down after the owner died in a car wreck. Now, if we want to play a show, we need to drive hours to the next city.
Local metal bands in my area are mostly awful. I've seen a bunch of teenagers paying to play at a gig! That's how unwanted they were. Some wannabe metalcore/prog nonsense if I remember correctly. Two of the dorkiest subgenres, with a bunch of people most metalheads don't ever want to see on a stage. I guess many metalheads are passionate enough about their music that they wish to contribute too...
I need help with my band's drummer. He is very shy and he never get out of the basic drum rhythm (only changing hi hat and ride cymbals) we basically have to tell him what to play and we can't really make any progress. Is there any way to motivate him or something so we can move forward? Because I don't want to kick him out because we are his only friends. (I hope I'm not portrayed as mean/rude) Thanks
+nightmare bonnie He takes things too serious. Also he is very stubborn, last time we showed him a drum beat (while doing a cover), he insisted that it wasn't how it was supposed to be played and he got really mad at us for telling him how to play the beat
OP, it sounds like you're being rational in this situation. That sounds like someone who's hard to work with. If he doesn't want to grow as a musician (or as a person), he's going to have a hard time in the music industry and playing music in general if that's what he wants to do. I've been that guy before (the guy with the fragile ego) and I've been in bands with that guy before and it looks really bad when you're not humble and whine when people tell you that what you're playing isn't fitting. It's good for everyone in a band to have their own ideas and to be in a space where they can contribute, but having the humility to take constructive criticism from the other bandmates is necessary to creating better music and progressing as a band. Personally, If I continually had confrontations like this with a bandmate and he didn't want to budge and grow, I'd warn that dude that he's close to getting kicked out of the band because that shit will only get worse and more contentious between everyone as time goes by and who's got time for that shit when you're trying to make music?
Sir Rob, you are very appreciated my friend. You should say hello if you're ever in Sedona,AZ. It's one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Look it up. An excellent place for all kinds of inspiration, especially music🎸🤘
theory is great man! too bad they didn't like the same kind of music you're into tho! you're probably just really unlucky! but i still think you get the biggest chance of getting into a band when you're literally surrounded by people who love music
damn! that's too bad man! well i wouldn't say you NEEEEEEEED theory but it surely helps! you can still make great music and have fun jamming with people you like without knowing shit about theory! each to their own man!
stop with the exclamation marks, it just makes you seem obnoxious there's nothing that kills creativity as fast as making it a chore or schoolwork. being forced to play things that youre not interested in and having those things as homework will just make you sick of guitar
that's not the reason why i suggested you go in a music school though. it's mainly cuz you'll be surrounded with people who like music and maybe some of them like the same music you do. i think i made that pretty clear.
Fuck it, here goes: I'm a lead guitarist who lives in Wickenburg, Arizona and I'm looking for a drummer, guitarist, and singer. Anybody who lives near by or is interested reply.
I am a guitarist, I have a friend who can play keyboards and sing, and another friend who play guitar. Would be cool to find a drummer or a bass player, but the only problem is... We live in fucking Russia.
can you Remeber sport lessons? there always was this Withe poder. This is a good way to slide on a guitar trust me. hope you understand my bad englisch, Good jam :D
Rob your great I watch all your videos and it makes me want to play my les Paul and my acoustic guitar all the time and go out and buy amps and pedals thanks so much I especially love the videos with the captain I love lee
Hit_District_, Greetings. Ryan Miller said he left AZ because the music scene sucked and enthusiasm levels here are non-existent. My wife and I find this to be pretty accurate. We're originally from Chicago, where such issues were not a problem. There, I had been in bands (and on "worship teams"). Alas, we are approaching "elderliness" and therefore hesitate to leave AZ. However, we plan on moving north, near the Village of Oak Creek. A guitarist friend of mine lives there, and makes some $ playing in coffeehouses. I hope to join him in some music project. If not we can just jam in a studio we plan on making out of one of those large sheds (you're invited!). Actually, his brother is a premiere bassist, who's also the boss at Nobody's Perfect Thrift Store in Queen Creek. I'm a capable drummer, though I had been inactive for years. I found myself instead working "regular jobs", such as the Chicago Tribune and other papers. My influences include Bill Ward, Phil Ehart, Don Brewer, Danny Seraphine...mainly 70s "classic rock" drummers. I'd like to learn some "advanced drumming" techniques, but that's not a priority. Not all of these technical guys have spirit, but there are a few, like Gavin Harrison and Keith Carlock. (Wow!) Here's a friend of ours, Scott Bonshire, playing drums in Illinois. I'm a player on his level, though his "bucket of fish" fill at 4 minutes surpasses mine---so far, haha! Best wishes, and thanks to Rob Chapman! ruclips.net/video/6O40WNrAltA/видео.html
I'd also say open mic nights are a musician's biggest friend for finding like minded people. They get a bit of a bad rap for being about poetry or stand up comedy but I guarantee if you're in or near an even slightly big town there will be a pub somewhere that does a regular jam/open mic session where you will be able to find other musicians. I know loads of people who have formed bands from them, and even if you don't form a band from people you meet at the night, you'll meet other musicians who know other musicians and can put you in touch with them.
LukeV of course it would be "better" it would also be better if he used a movie quality camera and studio lighting but how much do you expect from a dude making videos for youtube in is living room?
He doesnt need to buff the quality of the video, as is its already good enough for youtube, also he could easily use a usb mic. (Anyways this is just a vlog so i dont expect much of it) P.S thank you for making such djentelmanly argument good sir
He said in a previous video that his computer got damaged, didn't he? I believe his previous method was an outboard mic and camera which would then be synced up during editing, which, given that his computer is unable to edit, might be a problem.
One thing you didn't mention is establishing from the start how much gigging / recording you want to do. Most people aren't full time musicians and many bands fold at the point when the work starts to build up and a key member only wants to do a gig every three weeks.
I'm a guy from Montreal and I can play pretty much anything as long as there's music to be done... Drums, bass, guitar, you name it! I'm a lot into Mastodon, The Tea Party and Tool! Several songs already composed/recorded!
hey Chappers, could you please do a video on basic amp dialling like, adjusting bass, mid and treble to get you're different tones? (sorta more around rock/metal)
For all those that commented on my last post and checked out the track I posted, here's a follow up if you'd like to check it out as well! Thanks, everyone!! soundcloud.com/rmp5s/dronev2master
Good advice as always Mr Chapman :D well then my brothers, i live in Portugal, Almada and i never played with a band, i play guitar for 5 or 6 years and actualy i never had a teacher so i was looking for a bassist or a drummer or a band, just to have fun. Thank you very much Rob for being an inspiration, keep it up with the good moves Best of luck brothers from this Rock
I'm working on becoming a confident-enough bassist. Unfortunately I'm still in high school, home schooled, so it's sort of hard to make any decent friends, let alone people who have the time and skill to play in a band. A close friend of mind plays guitar, but that's like having a straw and a cup.. Where's the ice and the tea? Anyone have any recommendations for meeting new and young musicians?
It´s actually pretty easy to find a band if you´re a drummer or a bassist. There are so many guitarists out there that you have to be really good to find a band.
One of the bands I'm in at present has gone in the opposite direction: 2 guitars, drums, bass, 3 piece horn section and a vocalist. We have problems fitting into most venues ;-)
I'm a 17 year old bassist living in Silchester, near Reading, UK, looking to join or start a rock/punk/alt/metal band. Not amazingly fussed when it comes to genres, really, as long as I can throw a little distortion and energy into the mix ^ for all it's worth :')
Does anyone know if Rob has a video specifically for how to make yourself "band-qualified" as guitarist? Like what guitar skills to work on before joining/starting a band as a guitarist
Congratulations to all the musicians who had the balls to comment asking for people in the area to jam with them - well done the industry needs more people like you :-)
Hey Rob, you should make a video all about Big Muff, kinda like your Tube Screamer vid but, you know, with different Big Muffs
This turned out to be a pretty awesome experience, man.
Rob Chapman I did this and I got into a band with a couple friends love your vids never stop making vids
+Rob Chapman what happened to the Ml1 Hot Rod? I first saw it in a rob scallion video and thought it was really cool, and promptly found out that it was out of production. Why is this?
Me, Bobby and Dale made a death metal band last month. We're named Children of ProPain.
Dude, I swear I see you everywhere. going from Jarrod alonge to chappers!
I think there's a ton of accounts with my name, none others are the REAL Hank, of course. ;)
Brutal man.
Chris Beal Yeah we're pretty heavy. We wrote a song called Master of Mowers yesterday and it's fuckin' sick.
Man I'm dying right now ;) Whens the single gonna be released?
My girlfriend has a battery powered rabbit.
Could I use that as a bandmate??
or as an ebow. haha
Just hope she doesn't use that as her new boyfriend.
You could probably use it similar to the way Paul Gilbert uses a drill...
#tin machine
Yes if you play Jefferson airplane songs

How to form a band. Find a group of people who suck equally. Play together until you suck together so good you are accepted as good.
You will suck, just make sure you sound like trash in a consistent way 👍
Please make a video on "How to spontaneously form ice cream in your hand".
He told us how to do that at 8:07 !!!! :)
+Philippe Yamagata you lie
it's very simple. Just hold water in your hands and place them inside the freezer😂
It’s been a year and no one has told him that’s not ice cream
"Go, Get out of your bedroom" *Stops video*
1. Buy a looper pedal
4. Profit
I absolutely love the genuine passion this guy has for helping out other people like that. very insightful and to the point. This guy will always have my business.
is it possible to form a band of begginners (knowing basic chord and power chords and basic soloiong with minor/major pentatonic scale) to play with just for fun?
Yeah
Yes. Call yourselves Vacuum, because you will suck.
+GigglingDickhead fucking brilliant 😂
Damn man, you just fuccin rekt that dude.
ouchh xD
Rob Chapman - Moral father of many bands to come, constant inspiration for musicians and Mr. Nice guy all around. This world loves you and needs you, Rob.
As a bassist I find the opening of this video quite hurtfull.
He just means if you don’t want to be in a band with a bunch of people and bass is still the bass of all the band and is very important but you can just get a tone on guitar to make it like there is a bassist if there isn’t but bass is still cool and good to have a member of the band to play it
Deal with it
Good
Today was the day you needed to post this. Thank you Rob!
Looking for nuclear blast type metal band in need of an electric cazoo player, will travel! Nothing slower than 170 bpm please thanks!
lol, that sounds sick
damn, i only play the vuvuzela...
please link me to some of your work, whether it actually exists or not it sounds amazing.
E? Treba mi vuvuzelar, koliko dugo sviras vuvuzelu?
+nyalarhotep been playing for about 25 minutes. hahaha. also where abouts are you from if you dont mind me asking?

The beginning of this video is exactly what I needed.
I'm looking for a drummer. I live here. Or whatever.
Lol
Me too. Hopefully there's enough drummers for the both of us here.
I ~am~ a drummer. I live here too!
you guys are in luck!
Aaaah, that's a shame! I live way over ... there! ->
Been struggling in the small town grind for a long time. It's so hard to break out of this isolated bubble. I will take your advice to heart Rob and I hope it leads me to the people I wanna meet. God bless
2:30
as if bassists were'nt enough burried anyway XD
We all cry in unison xD
Noah Griff hahahaha a bassist is always necessary!
Ikr
yeah cries D: XD
*sniffles* I'm gonna go and listen to Royal Blood on repeat for 17 hours now, to make myself feel more necessary
when are the winners of the 400k challenge announced?
He said next week
I'd like to know, too!
+1TheNas1 where did he say that?
Tysoreny someone asked in the comments, he replied

I think 9/10 people who watch rob is a guitarist so asking people here won't work I don't think.
If someone wanted to start a band with 15 guitarists then it would be perfect.
So wrong.
guess im the 1/10 that just so happens to be a drummer. (well kinda a bass player and piano nerd too but lets just ignore that shall we?)
+Martin Curkovic lolol...hey, it takes all kinds. :-P
Can you program MIDI?
+rmp5s yup, piece of cake
„How to form a band without bass player” - Glenn Fricker approves

my life is in shambles
Thanks Rob.Inded, I need to start writing down my music, as well as learn to drive and master doing the album making technology.I been playing guitar for three years.
My missus has a battery Powered rabbit, however it's a bit floppy to play drums with.
I REAALLLY love your guitar designs...Chapman Guitars! Never heard of it till now but wow!
i dont even want a band i clicked for the popsicle

it's just playing all the time :)
Wait till you get blisters, put methylated spirits on them for a while. Next morning your blisters are callouses.
Sounds stupid but works.
the kroginator
that's what I was thinking, but I'm hoping there's maybe 1 or 2 tricks to help it out
41DegreesSouth
hmmmmmmmmmmmm, that whole "getting blisters" part sounds pretty painful. If I practice 2 hours I'm not even close to getting blisters...
Yeah it's a nasty thing to do but you just have to play all the time until they form on your fingertips, it sucks but it works

Melefono Same, not to mention I love in a place where NOBODY plays ANYTHING
This is why I love Rob👍🏻
How much would it cost to set up a Musicians version of Linkedin?
Dunno that would be a good business move I'd invest if had the money.
Over to you Rob......not forgetting my 10% cut of course haha

Jersey Devil A singer, you say? Wanna join my band?
+Taylor Shapiro A (pretty good) bassist offered me the lead guitar spot in his band after watching my rig entry. It was pretty flattering, but he lives in Texas, so I didn't accept.
Move to Poland for fucks sake. There are only fucking drummers
Thanks Rob. What you said about meeting people is very true. I play guitar and keyboards (many genres) and live in Florida. If anyone would like to collaborate I'd love to hear from you.

Took him 7 minutes to take a bite. WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!
I disagree with your point about bassists, i may be biased but to me having a dynamic bassist who is strong rhythmically and melodically you can cut a drummer out and maybe even rythm guitar, yes royal blood have worked without a guitarist, yes other bands have done exactly as you said but nothing can beat having a living breathing bassist who can give an extra layer of texture and dimension to the music
thank you Rob Chapman, I have always wanted to form a band and now I can do it
In my experience metal bands absolutely fill "band websites" other than 50 year olds who "want to jam and have a laugh" :(
In my area websites and adverts are full of crap indie rock bands that all sound the same.
We can switch places if you wanna. Where I'm from, it's the other way around...
+Alex Paulsen You must live near me
That opening music is perfect for an album I'm working on
That's Rob Chapman for u
I need help with my band's drummer. He is very shy and he never get out of the basic drum rhythm (only changing hi hat and ride cymbals) we basically have to tell him what to play and we can't really make any progress. Is there any way to motivate him or something so we can move forward? Because I don't want to kick him out because we are his only friends. (I hope I'm not portrayed as mean/rude)
Thanks
I would say in gonna kick you out unless u get better. but not meaning it
+nightmare bonnie He takes things too serious.
+chris zapri Thank you I'll try that tomorrow
+Seymour Beetle Thanks man, I'll talk with him tomorrow
Sir Rob, you are very appreciated my friend. You should say hello if you're ever in Sedona,AZ. It's one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Look it up. An excellent place for all kinds of inspiration, especially music🎸🤘
best way to get into a band (if you're fortunate enough) is to enroll in a music school!
theory is great man! too bad they didn't like the same kind of music you're into tho! you're probably just really unlucky! but i still think you get the biggest chance of getting into a band when you're literally surrounded by people who love music
damn! that's too bad man! well i wouldn't say you NEEEEEEEED theory but it surely helps! you can still make great music and have fun jamming with people you like without knowing shit about theory! each to their own man!
stop with the exclamation marks, it just makes you seem obnoxious
there's nothing that kills creativity as fast as making it a chore or schoolwork.
being forced to play things that youre not interested in and having those things as homework will just make you sick of guitar
that's not the reason why i suggested you go in a music school though. it's mainly cuz you'll be surrounded with people who like music and maybe some of them like the same music you do. i think i made that pretty clear.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If found this very good just general life advice, after a difficult breakup I'm just finding ways to meet up with people I can relate to. Thanks Rob.
Fuck it, here goes: I'm a lead guitarist who lives in Wickenburg, Arizona and I'm looking for a drummer, guitarist, and singer. Anybody who lives near by or is interested reply.
U need a bassist. They make it so better
I need anyone really...
I'm on the other side of the world and I've got the same problem.
+Alex Hooi Awesome. Think about moving to America?
+Chris Beal calling yourself a "lead guitarist" is kinda jerky
the way u feel ur playing is great
I am a guitarist, I have a friend who can play keyboards and sing, and another friend who play guitar. Would be cool to find a drummer or a bass player, but the only problem is... We live in fucking Russia.
Deadfire Grasp Rip
Deadfire Grasp also, it's "Deathfire Grasp"
а какая проблема-то? Разве только что-то экзотическое играть собрались)
Cyka blyat I guess
THAT INTRO WAS AMAZING CHAPPERS!!.. you should use that in a live performance
I have all of the band members but we hate each other
Same, it sucks.
roy jacoby learn to like each-other. Find common ground. Communication and compromise
Go out and do stuff they like
I don't have a drummer and singer, and my bassist is a douche who doesn't just want to jam for fun and wants to play only what he wants to play.
Make something of it. Like a brawl at every gig.
I am a singer/songwriter living in Vancouver Canada! Hoping to meet a guitarist/pianist 😊 -Thank you Rob for this video♡
Does anybody else lick their thumb in the fret hand so you can slide down the fretboard easier?
If you have to do that then you have too much lacquer finish on your neck, i always take it off with a scotch bright
i suggest you see ben ellers video on sticky neck
can you Remeber sport lessons? there always was this Withe poder. This is a good way to slide on a guitar trust me. hope you understand my bad englisch, Good jam :D
thanks, I'll try all these out.
Was having trouble getting a part right on a recording, engineer told me lick my hand, nailed it on the next take.
Rob your great I watch all your videos and it makes me want to play my les Paul and my acoustic guitar all the time and go out and buy amps and pedals thanks so much I especially love the videos with the captain I love lee
Looking for willing people to form a band:
Queen Creek, Az.
Circle Cross Ranch area.
(Wow!)
Here's a friend of ours, Scott Bonshire, playing drums in Illinois. I'm a player on his level, though his "bucket of fish" fill at 4 minutes surpasses mine---so far, haha!
Best wishes, and thanks to Rob Chapman!

I started my band a year ago and its been a roller coaster ride of drama! But a lot of fun, great music, and great friends... some enemies lol.
I'm looking for a drummer. I live in Dzerzhinsk, Russia. You're welcome.
Jacksonville, Florida has a pretty small crowd for hard rock/metal. We definitely need more musicians to come out!
Am I the only one looking for a girlfriend?
Petrila Cosmin no, so is my dad
that was the best comment ive seen all day
Petrila Cosmin No.
wtf do you need one of THOSE for?
Royal Blood: A bassist and a drummer simple outfit with MASSIVE tunes
My name Jeff
no it jose. Me pretty sure.
I love your videos Mr Rob you are an awesome man!!
I'm looking for a girlfriend in Northwest UK. Am I doing this right?
I'd also say open mic nights are a musician's biggest friend for finding like minded people. They get a bit of a bad rap for being about poetry or stand up comedy but I guarantee if you're in or near an even slightly big town there will be a pub somewhere that does a regular jam/open mic session where you will be able to find other musicians. I know loads of people who have formed bands from them, and even if you don't form a band from people you meet at the night, you'll meet other musicians who know other musicians and can put you in touch with them.
remove le bassist? BLASPHEMY!
I'm in a touring prog metal band that currently uses cubase tracks for drums live, based in gateshead/ Newcastle !
I'm an old fart in texas, just got a Les Paul and need to jam with other old farts. Young farts need not reply
WLS64 Me, too, but I am in AZ with Ludwig and Alesis drum sets.
I think that is the most beautiful guitar I've eer seen.
dear chappers,
pls dont use camera mic because i cant hear clearly
sincerely, a random youtubet
i can hear clearly so the fault is obviousley at your speakers/headphones
your argument is invalid
Ok thank you good sir, but wouldnt it be better if he uses a usb mic? So smartphone users can hear him clearer without the needs of headphones
LukeV
of course it would be "better"
it would also be better if he used a movie quality camera and studio lighting but how much do you expect from a dude making videos for youtube in is living room?
He doesnt need to buff the quality of the video, as is its already good enough for youtube, also he could easily use a usb mic. (Anyways this is just a vlog so i dont expect much of it)
P.S thank you for making such djentelmanly argument good sir
He said in a previous video that his computer got damaged, didn't he? I believe his previous method was an outboard mic and camera which would then be synced up during editing, which, given that his computer is unable to edit, might be a problem.
You know you’ve been doing RUclips channels a while when you can pull off a good video when holding a popsicle!
Never take advice from a man with a birds nest on his head
Thanks, everyone!!

man, I'm going back through all the deep topics from Chappers; having a cup of coffee and designing album art for my band's LP. oh goodness
Good advice as always Mr Chapman :D
well then my brothers, i live in Portugal, Almada and i never played with a band, i play guitar for 5 or 6 years and actualy i never had a teacher so i was looking for a bassist or a drummer or a band, just to have fun.
Thank you very much Rob for being an inspiration, keep it up with the good moves
Best of luck brothers from this Rock
Worthy words, mate. Many thanks! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for this video chappers! As a bedroom "guitarist" all you said really got me thinking! :)
This is literally just on time for me
Great advice. Another tip is to look for "open mic" nights.
Joining groups on Facebook for local musicians . Its how I met my band members.
Rob are you planning to play at any festivals next year? 2000 trees is a great one for British music.
Not amazingly fussed when it comes to genres, really, as long as I can throw a little distortion and energy into the mix
^ for all it's worth :')
Does anyone know if Rob has a video specifically for how to make yourself "band-qualified" as guitarist? Like what guitar skills to work on before joining/starting a band as a guitarist
