As you say, we do not know what is around the corner so we should count our blessings and make the most of every day. Thank you for sharing this sensitively and for all your efforts. Go well, be safe.
Ashbourne Tunnel was closed when my son and I did this route in 1997. Interestly the surface was gravel that was designed to limit speed and acceleration! We of course used non-electric bikes as was the norm then. I used to live near Leek for 25 years until 1978 when I moved to Essex. Any medical problems can have serious consequences when walking, cycling or hill walking in areas like the Peak District or South Wales or the Yorkshire Dales. Enjoy the outdoors but please be careful.
I think Ashbourne Tunnel was subject to inspection in 1997. Obviously the necessary refurbishment was done. A pleasing result. Explored quite a few disused railway routes over the last 60 years , mainly in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Peak District, Wales and East Anglia. Even used microlites, light aircraft and gliders as well as on cycles and foot. A great pasttime! P.s.Thank you for eventually allowing me to see the full interior of the tunnel. Very sad outcome for the collapsed cyclist.
Well done for your efforts Paul and Denise,it must have been awful to come across that situation and of course our thoughts go out to the family of the stricken man and of course the Comptons because having recently lost a neighbour I know it can leave you feeling quite sad,
Hi Paul that must have been very upsetting for you and mrs C but credit you did what you could .My condolences to the mans family. Paul I know the first part of that trail and where you stopped at Tissington it is a loverly village and manor house to walk around, worth a look next time you go.Thanks keep up the good work.
It seams strange to click like on this video Paul ... so sad .... may be it was the way he wanted to go anyway ... out in the wonderful Derbyshire countryside. I am supposed to be having a hot air balloon trip from Tissington tomorrow as long as the weather is ok. (you may remember me bumping into you at Hassop Station on the Monsal trail a while back, the day my balloon trip was cancelled).
yes yes you got me off guard after i was thinking who the hell was that hahaha sorry i did not stop and chat.. i would LOVE LOVE LOVE a ballon trip.. maybe i should get my followers to sponcer one haha
@@paulcomptonpdphotography Not a problem Paul, as I had a phone to my ear as I said hello to you, trying to find out if my balloon trip was going ahead.=, mind you we did have a chat at the Battle of Nantwich a few years earlier.
I unfortunately a few years ago, out between Matlock Bath and Bakewell on a day out witnessed a horrendous fatal motorcycle accident in front of our eyes. His dead body dropped in front of us…we stayed with him throughout air ambulance procedures as chief witnesses and I saw things I’d turn away from on TV. It’s a horrible situation. Be sensible, go carefully and enjoy life. You never know….as you say x ❤️ ps love Ashbourne! We’ll meet up one day for a shoot!
That must have been quite upsetting once you were away from the scene and having your coffee, It was good you were able to be on hand to help and also support the poor man’s wife. Quick question on the Eskutes, if you charge them via your home mains, how much does a full charge cost? Happy Birthday 🍰🥳
Thank you for H/B as for charge i could not tell you to be honest, never really thought about it. if you are interested inthe bikes use my discount code COMPTON50 for £50 off..
