I watch the pro anglers of today, and though I admire the heck out of them, I can’t help but to compare them to the old pros. Now days they have a rod and reel type for every lure type. They have ultra vivid depth finder/graphs as big as Tv screens and boats that go 100mph. And then you look at pros like Clunn, Lindner, Martin, Dance and many others back in the day: 5ft 6 or 6ft rods, paper graphs at best, 14ft boats with 45hp motors and not nearly the lure selection as today, yet they are the legends that made the sport of bass fishing what it is today! Again, I’m not at all locking todays fishermen because I know those guys back in the 60s and 70s would’ve loved to have had the tackle and equipment of this era. I’m only saying that the modern fishing industry and popularity of the sport is owed to the legends of yesterday. I love these old videos!
I have this on VHS, and the whole 5 tape series. Here's part of a letter I wrote to Glen Lau, Jan. 3, 2018 that never got to his address: In the mid 1960's, my brother and cousin often waded for largemouth bass on Lake Andes, SD using mainly Bass-Orenos. They were probably seniors in high school, and I was around 10. As they fished, they would sing "I'd Love to Live in Loveland With a Girl Like You," and very often, when they came to the phrase "every day a holiday with skies of baby blue," they would get a strike after the word "holiday"! So, when I heard you say this at the end of the film, at 27:15, I couldn't believe it!
Omg this is why I should have grown up in this Era thay spoon throw to follow up with a front and smash that bass I was so fired up! Lol I love how clean the video is without shity adds and logos lol
Those days were definitely my days. I love these old videos.
