I'm not a hater - actually really hoping this turns out to be good and I'm always team Cameron - but I inadvertently read a pretty legitimate overview of the film based on an early screening and the plot details have aligned 100 percent with everything that has come out recently about the movie, including the fact that the new enemy is not called Skynet (which Miller revealed today). I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer but I think they are going to let a lot of die hard fans with the Furlong piece if the plot description is true. That's all I'll say. I genuinely hope to enjoy the movie.

I think it's pretty obvious at this point that Furlongs part won't be HUGE in this - BUT I'm just glad he's coming back at all, it's good to see him coming back to the franchise in ANY amount of time. Especially because Furlong has had such a rough go in the past, I'm happy to see him working again (small or big) on such a massive film. When James Cameron himself is at Comic Con talking about ya to a crowd, that's a massive win no matter how you cut it. That's my thoughts on it anyway.

Arnold needs to do a podcast chat show. The guy cracks me up, awesome sense of humour and a smart witty dude.
I was John's age when I saw t-2 and t-1, and I really felt a connection. I was a wild, mischievous boy too, and it was awesome to have kid to relate to. I also loved the emotional music, the compelling thought-provoking messages to reflect on regarding the things we make waking up and seeing us as the thing to eliminate. It is a very emotional film(s) and they are even more thoughtful and emotional and suspenseful due to the cold/bleak story that surrounds the warmth and determination of the characters. I was really drawn to the father/son - boy and his terminator relationship, the mother/son story where she had to survive to give birth and then protect/train her son for the future only she knew might someday happen if they don't stop it, and the Sarah/terminator friendship where it went form her being frightened and pursued relentlessly to learning to trust and shake his hand at the end.
These movies with their practical effects, real stunt work, emotional stories and gritty ideas to ponder and themes to reflect on long after the movie is over are part of why they have stuck with me. The visuals as well with the cold/blue tint, the sound effects and music which has that synth/cold feeling yet full of heart and emotion, and everything else in these movies. I would love it if they were keeping Edward a surprise for somewhere in the movie, possibly even at the end if not sooner, when the future they try to prevent can't be entirely prevented, and Sarah makes it to the future where she meets up with her son. That's always the idea I had, that she'd be there by his side, commending a troop or group of rebels to help fight or defend from the machines - since she raised and trained him to become the leader of the humans.
I don't mind the new one as long as it's important, gritty and emotional like the first two, and definitely not like a slapstick, over the top, cringey marvel movie - those movies have no heart, nothing to reflect on afterwards, and they don't even care about their audience - because they line up all their movies and show you previews for them before the audience even has a chance to react or praise the movie - they don't care and it's obvious. I think those involved with our terminator stories still do care about us audience members and fans, unlike marvel who has rubbery effects, cheesy dialogue, empty story, no themes or plot/character development, all spectacle, forgettable story and music. I want those handling our terminator movies to tell a gritty, heartfelt story. I just hope it has those important relationships the first two did - because those long with the gritty and poignant themes is why those films are so memorable.
This movie does have a chance to pave the way over all the horrible hollywood/marvel crap out there, and show you can still have a real action movie with practical effects, stunt work, throughout themes and ideas and well-crafted storytelling. I sort of wish the trailer began with the nightclub in T-1, possibly in slow motion, with the tech-noire sounds and lights, hearkening back to the synth/cold/frightening pursuing of a machine in disguise after seemingly random woman who needs to become the mother of the boy of our future. Or possibly with a moment from the climax of T-2 that was so gut wrenching emotional but necessary for that story. Or just echos of the dialogue or music from the first two films set in darkness with a low synth sound, "I order you not to go! I order you not to go! I order you n-," since this film is connected to them. Or an echo of the scene where Sarah is standing at the chain link fence near the playground, reciting the worrisome speech. We don't always need new characters doing fancy things to appreciate character and story and the world building of these tales.
When I was John's age, I explored and rode my bike through the many neighborhoods and homes I've lived in growing up, pretending to be chased by 18-wheelers and dodging enemy fire - while getting into mischief throughout the streets! I would fly down a steep hill, wind blowing my hair back, sun on my skin, and swerve into the driveway and let my bike tumble onto the lawn as I hopped off and I'd dash inside and slam the door, my exhilaration and imagination aflame with ideas of being chased by fast machines. I was very much adventurous and quick and had a troubled life much like John did, and have always looked forward to the day, or at least pondered often, what he'd be doing to prepare for the future. In South America, in the desert, training by nearby jungles and with trusted soldiers/rebels/friends of Sarah, a difficult family and environment to grow up in and a challenging but necessary life for what's to come. I hope we get to see that or at least he's alive and well and we can have our John and his mother be together and take on this dark fate. There is no fate but what we make.
Very touching story about why you love Terminator but why the need to bring down Marvel? Which slapstick movie are you referring? Endgame was one of the most emotional experiences I've ever had watching movie and that definitely didn't feel like a slapstick. And that movie will shape kids lives the same way Terminator shaped it for you

It's almost feels like Arnold has been given a back seat in this movie. I hope that's not the case though. He made the franchise what it is today. He was the ultimate 80s and early 90s action hero. He needs to still be heavily in this movie. I hope he is.

I don't know bout y'all but I'm used to seeing in the Terminator films, a Terminator would arrive naked in the middle of the night. Arnold doesn't do it anymore. That's what made the films realistic. A cyborg sent back through time arrives naked.

Half the fun in these things is the interaction between the cast and the reaction and off-comments to each other questions/answers.
I'm sure the crowd would have preferred 40 minutes with Arnold rather than 12 minutes.
Whilst I agree, you had to have Arnold on last, otherwise all the questions would be to him & he is the who crowd want to see, so you bring the main event out last. Linda was out early, which was a pacifier for the crowd.

I'm very very excited for the new Terminator film. I reserve my expectations, of course. But I am definitely gonna see it in the theater when it comes out. Congratulations to Tim Miller and everyone else involved for continuing the Terminator franchise so we can still enjoy them. I don't see anyone else picking the series back up. So, again, congratulations to Tim Miller. I hope it's a good and entertaining film no matter what.

- Skynet = Legion
- Another T800 (Carl) was sent back in either T1 or T2 timeline and emerges after the events of T2 killing John Connor, and now has no purpose. He goes lives in the woods and blends in with society.
- Sarah somehow knows when and where Terminators arrive from the future and becomes the Terminator Hunter.
- Sarah meets Carl in present day and wants to kill him, but can't yet as he will be helping Dani and Grace.
- Kyle Reece is the leader in the alternate future and is the one responsible for creating augmented humans. He sends Grace back to the Dark Fate timeline.

Before the T2 was released a few people I knew thought( including myself) the T-1000 looked cool but Robert Patrick wasn't scary. He was some small white guy taking on Arnold?!!! But after watching the film he became very intimidating through his actions and I expect we`ll get the same from Gabe Lunas version.

First why is she transgender? Because shes tough and masculine looking with short hair" Why would a frontline soldier who's part machine on the frontlines of a war look feminine and be girlie? That would make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Now if she were a complete terminator like the Tx that would makes sense but this is clearly not the case here. She needs to be tough and hardened because she simply wouldnt have the time to learn to be feminine and pretty with hair and make up done.
Reese describes this in the original film. When asked what the women are like in his future he simply says "theyre good fighters". Then when asked if there was anyone special he responds "no. Never". so you can imagine while im sure there is sex between men and woman in the future it's a very difficult thing because everyone is needed to fight. You fall in love and odds are one of you will be killed so people try to shut off that emotion just how he describes.
I hope this makes sense and opens your mind to the character because as far as im concerned she makes sense and im really confused about the backlash because in context of the world the Terminator has established it makes sense.

Unfortunately he had a tiny part. A real shame. When Linda Hamilton was coming back and they said he was coming back I thought they had something special. I'll still probably see it just for a good "turn your brain off" type action movie, but the excitement level definitely dropped. It also wasn't a smart choice. Many lifelong Terminator fans have been going apeshit online about what happened to John Connor in this and vowing not to see the movie. I'm not that far, but I understand their anger especially with the buildup that "this is the one they do it right."
