Most of the guys that actually have something under the hood aren't out there trying to race everyone. Don't even look fast, but I notice tell-tale signs like a distinct idle, chop, exhaust aroma, traction bars, built rear-end, exhaust out the fender, a laptop clearly in view, a blower whine/turbo spool that doesn't belong on the car etc.
And either:
A.) They're nice people usually and appreciate talking about their build and yours.
B.) Keep to themselves. Don't showboat.
*None of them classify themselves as "racers"*
The only guys out there making fools of themselves are the ones that buy a car already mildly fast and slap on an exhaust and "cold air intake"...
Or euro scene. An Audi s4/s5 with a tune or M series. Those are legitimately fast, but those never last long. Beat up. Leaking. Engine damage.
As someone who runs time attack I’d like to offer the exception to your rule, ours cars are fully decked out. Aero is critical in managing triple digit sweeping turns and especially for cooling purposes. My car has more vents than a cheese grater , all serve a purpose. On the plus side it does have the power and speed to back up the looks. It’s no drag car but the intention is grip.
So a skoda octavia is just a rebadged Jetta, same as the Audi A3 is a VW Golf

skoda octavia is the police cars here in portugal, they can keep up with our 400hp ibizas and turbo civics, its like the VW passat from the hospital emergencys. they are tuned and they have like 300 to 400 hp

See the problem with 5.0 drivers is they don’t know how to launch their cars start off in second gear around 5k rpm and dump the clutch you would have easily won against the duramax

I must be gettin old. Im so not up on all the terminology of newer cars (the last 10-15 years). Especially European and Japanese cars. So many letters and numbers, special editions, etc. "Corvette Z06" is one thing or Challenger Hellcat but the foreign cars, how the hell do you know what's what? 4 and 6cyl with massive turbos......a whole different world than street racing back in the 70s-80s. Back when it was big cubes, big cams and carbs. Cant forget nitrous. Hell, in the 80s it seemed like a 12 second street car was considered pretty fast compared to about everything else out on Telegraph or Woodward in metro Detroit. 11s and you were the man. These little Hondas look like they're running 11s if not 10s in some cases. Cool shit.

I beat plenty of the BMW's, Mercedes and Mustang when I had an 96 Acura to, Mustang drivers hated it and my car was bone stock. If I held it back, it would shift 3 - 4 th gear at 105 + mph and just squat and gone.
