Having lived in that area and railfanned that route, you've done a masterful job of incorporating everything to create that route in miniature. You always do a great job of weighing the compromises as well. Well done, as always.

I have driven US 2 several times over the years, always thinking that the scenes would be great to model. You have certainly created a great representation of the area. I expect the owner will have a great time detailing the various scenes.
Dear Peter, as always a beautiful presentation of your layout designs, different considerations and options! Love the design idea of the ‘sound’ as a horizontal backdrop element for the lower section. That’s an interesting and excellent piece of thinking to increase the visual perspective. Simply amazed by the level of prototypical accuracy you were able to achieve on this commission. Humbly think flipping some of the location’s footprints is just adding to the scenic value of the design. Great examples of modeler’s license! Cheerio

Not a lot of model railroads based in WA which is unfortunate since there's so much to model, so I'm always interested in layouts based in my former home state.
My layout is proto frelanced stevens pass and Maria's pass. Including the cascade tunnel with a helix. Check it out. Not as nice as your work but looks good to me. Nice plan .
I love the plan. I'd look into changing the Ballard Terminal RR track location: have the spur on the inside so the track goes under the Salmon Bay Bridge per the prototype. You'd still have a working interchange.
As drawn, the Ballard Terminal trackage is correct to the prototype (albeit condensed in terms of length). Any arrangement that allows the BTRR train to pass under the bridge will result in huge compromises to the main scene and would be a very poor trade-off. We are far better off with the track under the bridge being a dummy, with the BTRR train heading into a hidden staging track, as on the plan.
@@billsornsin Even if it would fit, it would need to be a dummy interchange since there's nowhere for that track to go except off the front of the benchwork.
What about moving the N Wenatchee Ave, river and pipe bridge just a little further west and the track a little closer to the front? Then the Oroville spur could be a working staging track behind the backdrop. That would add another crew job to bring a train into Wenatchee yard exchange cars and return to the spur.
I tried to do just that, but there simply wasn't anywhere near enough space for it. We would have needed benchwork several feet wide, not just the 20" available.
The “Scenic” location is actually “Skykomish”. Scenic is on the East side of the tunnel. It’s a great track plan and something I’ve always wanted to model. Alas, I have never had the space to build it HO.
I think you need to check your map again. According to both the official track chart of the railroad and google-maps, Scenic is clearly West of the tunnel. Berne is at the east portal.

Hello, I have a question, would you be able to make something in a 2.5mx2.5m room so that I would sit inside and the model would stick out from the wall by a maximum of 50 cm :) ??? A challenge :P N scale of course :) I will also add that the door is on the lower wall on the right side, 20 cm from the corner of the room and has dimensions of 80 cm :P

Probably not. For the most part, English main lines are double-track and have a high density of passenger trains. Having said that, there's probably no reason why the same basic footprint wouldn't work for an English prototype but the layout would look very different. If you're thinking of hiring me to design one, I'd like to hear from you.
My layout design service starts at $1050. Most designs cost significantly more however, depending on size, complexity and the level of completeness you want. Whether or not that is going to be worth it largely depends on your own design skills. If you start building to a poor design, you will end up having to redo a lot of work, which will undoubtedly cost considerably more than what you "save" by not getting a good design beforehand.
I frequently vacation out there due to my wife's mountain climbing, quite familiar with the Scenic Sub. One thing that I really like about RRing over this area and the other passes for the MILW and NP is the change of climate once you cross over and head east. The temps skyrocket and the terrain turns arid and harsh.

@@mpeterll I agree with your choice - since the track crosses under at a right angle you'd need a great deal of space for the 90° curve
