- Back at it with a NEW and improved DIY cat enclosure!! Our cats have loved the previous enclosure we made about 2 years ago, they use it EVERYDAY! We can definitely see a difference in their energy when they're able to go outside for stimulation! But, we had to take down the previous enclosure due to getting our house repainted, and decided to move it to a different location, leading to the need to build a new one! We were happy to because we had so many new ideas for upgrades we definitely wanted to implement! Hope y'all love it :)

How long was it until your cats figured out how to use the kitty door on their own without you holding it open for them. I'm afraid my cats are too dumb (but loveable) to figure it out.
LOL!! 😂 It took a couple weeks. We used a binder clip to hold up the flap and everyday we made the opening for them to get out smaller and smaller until it didn’t need the clip anymore

Thanks for the great video. One (I hope) constructive suggestion, much more video of the process on screen as you speak and less "talking heads" describing the process. So "say a cat see a cat" as you go would be a good model for the future. I was inspired to make a catio. Good work. TL in Seattle

I've lived with a lot of feline company over the years and it's really important to remember that even though they are all cats, all need something to call their jungle, they are each different, just like us. We now have 2 cats and one WAS a street fighter when he was allowed outside and since becoming inside only his mood has improved A LOT. He's more chilled and less anxious. In fact, we gave him some outside walk time on a lead but after each walk he would be super anxious and insecure, so we don't anymore and both cats are inside fulltime. If we do end up building a catio I am not sure if it will be in both their best interests. Sigh...fur babies. 😂 Great video.
Great work to help keep the cats healthy and content. I just wanted to add that next time, use Cut-N-Seal (or stain) on the cut ends of all boards. Especially important for any pieces that will be on the ground.

I live in Epping Vic.Australia, as of 1st August 2023 All cat's must remain inside. Our Council has given us about 12 months notice to either build a Catio or keep all cats inside the home 24/7 So your video is great.....Love,, Health and Happiness to you both from Australia

That's a great enclosure, I need to make one for our cats. Have you had any problems with the mini zip ties cracking or breaking? I live in Florida and those things sometimes just crack.
I haven’t, and we’re in Nola, so we have the same heat! But they do have outdoor grade zip ties & I believe steel ones, which would obviously last longest
I noticed you went from 2x2's in your previous catio to 2x4's. Were the 2x2's too flimsy ? Why did you make the change?
2x4’s are of course more substantial. But we also did it because our cats walk along the sides and use them to jump up, so we wanted them to have a wider space to use them to jump up
So cool! How do you guys go inside to clean it? I suppose through the window? Lol.
We had the other one 2 years and haven’t had to go in to clean it! We leaf blow any leaves that may get in through the fencing. They don’t use the bathroom in there and the water bowl in right through the window, so I just stick my hand in and grab it :) if we ever did HAVE to go in for some reason, it’s super quick and easy to take the window door off the window

This looks great - so I plan to build one soon and I have a quick question: can you move this cat house a bit off the wall so I can get inside and clean-up or add extra thinks for my kitty ! As I don't see it attached to the house I assume it is - but just in case - thanks a bunch
It’s not attached to the house, so I technically could move it. But we built ours to fit pretty snug and we buried it in the gravel.
