"Who Do You Say That I Am?"
Mark 8: 27 - 35
Jesus asked Peter, “Who do you say that I am?” What answer was he expecting? Was he testing Peter’s knowledge and understanding of his teachings or trying to get at something else? Who do we say Jesus is? And what are the implications of our answers? This Sunday we continue our sermon series on the stories of Jesus from Mark’s gospel as we ponder who Jesus is to us and how our answers help shape our journey of faith.
This Sunday we’ll celebrate all the Jesus has done for us through our worship music. Throughout the service, a brass quintet will enhance our worship music as well as play Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring and a Dixie-style arrangement of the spiritual Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. Our Chancel Choir will not only sing I Will Worship the Lord by John Rutter, but also sing a triumphant anthem entitled Celebrate the Day by Pepper Choplin which reminds us to “celebrate the joy of our faith in Christ” and to “be thankful for the very gift of breath and life.” Come celebrate with us!
