- Rob from Sound Technology (Nord UK) gives PMTVUK an in depth overview of the new Nord Grand piano, check it out here: www.pmtonline....
The Nord Grand is Nord's new flagship Digital Piano, featuring a weighted Kawai 88-Note keybed with advanced triple sensors. The Grand's new Kawai Responsive Keybed captures the movements of the hammers (rather than the keys) with exceptional precision, delivering the smooth and natural feel of an acoustic grand piano.
It combines this revolutionary playing feel with Nord's trademark ease-of-use interface and critically-acclaimed sound library. Similarly to other Nord Pianos, Grand features dedicated Piano, Sample Synth and an Effects section. Everything you need to tailor the ultimate sonic soundscape.
Grand is truly one of the finest, most expressive digital pianos in its class, perfectly capable of handling studio work and live performance.

The best Nord put out there so far

Can you do.nord organ
Nord piano samples are the best sounding you'll find in any hardware digital piano.
BUT even their finest/biggest piano sounds suffer from being sampled at only 3 velocity levels. For accomplished classical players, this is an almighty shame. Although I'm 'really' a keyboard player in the pop world, I did go a long way as a classical player back in the day, and my experience when playing Nords is that really PRECISE voicing (eg. bringing out just one note of a chord) is never possible because of the 3 layers of samples - I can always hear the jump to the next layer of samples when 'just slightly' increasing velocity...
I wish Nord would produce even just one piano sample set that has 8 samples covering the velocity range. If they could do that, their pianos would suddenly 'feel amazing' to classical players. There's a gap in the market there, guys!
When people talk about how a keybed feels, their experience is often more to do with the response to changes in velocity (as well as any local latency) than actual physical characteristics of the keybed - even if that much isn't apparent to the player!
Having said all the above, the Nord Grand is still the best compromise out there at the moment. It could be made better if Nord could produce an 8 layer sample set. And while I'm on my soapbox, thebeginnings of their samples could sometimes be trimmed a bit more aggressively...
what would you get if not a nord, in this price range (besides a real piano)?
I absolutely cannot wait to get this Piano. Just a couple weeks away. I am saddened to hear from the video that apparently no women play these pianos, only guys which is kind of sad.
In every demo, the demonstrator is playing fluff. Give us some Chopin or Schubert, or Rachmaninoff. Not the cheesy made for TV movie themes that finish with broken arpeggios...gads! BTW_ I owned this Nord Grand for a short time. The hammer action is awful. It feels like rubber mallets falling on a wood block. Even when it's powered off it has a clunking sound with each key depression. The escapement isn't accurate and it feels nothing like a Grand. I have a Yamaha s6. Not even remotely similar..
Exactly! That's my biggest issue with all of these videos, they don't play anything interesting!
If you are playing Chopin, Schubert and Rachmaninoff, I'm pretty sure the Nord Grand isn't primarily aimed at classical pianists. I don't know of any classical players who would be layering synth sounds in their recital or rattling off some Rachmaninoff on a Fender Rhodes.
@@benjaminpeternorris It's for everyone. Some parents want an affordable instrument in an apartment setting for their child to learn classical on. The point is that there are NO examples of this. And by the way I played one in a retailer. It's a horrible action for any style. it's clunky. Roland still has the best on their hammer action RD-2000
@@station2station544 It's a stage piano, primarily aimed at gigging musicians (which is why it has no built-in speakers). There are plenty of digital pianos aimed at the home market far more suitable for kids learning classical piano. Kawai make some fantastic digital pianos with better actions, and built-in metronomes and music recorders that are specifically designed with the home market in mind.
@@benjaminpeternorris Disagree. This is the solution. This is not a stage piano for doing Billy Joel covers at a cheesy bar in Baltimore.
Sv1 look better
It's ugly..
I think it's neat looking!
You’re the one being toxic, obviously he thinks piano doesn’t look ugly and because you do, you have the nerve to say he can’t give his own opinion? Your comment is ugly
so is your face
