I appreciate Cecil. He seems knowledgeable and genuinely concerned for the preservation, respect and integrity of the old graves but doesn't aggrandize himself. Seems humble and sincere.😊
Thank you to Cecil and his son for cleaning up this cemetery! That had to have been A LOT of work. It looks fantastic. Those are beautiful headstones. The children's graves are always the saddest.
Thank you, Robert and Cecil. Both graveyards are peaceful, but the monuments in the second one are very unique and beautiful. The only disturbing and sad thing is the amount of children who left way too soon. Unfortunately, it was much too common in those days.
It is always so sad to see the infant and children's graves, but that's just the way it was back then without the modern medicines we have today. My mother's mother miscarried twins and then 5 years later lost a 5 year old daughter to diphtheria. She did have 9 children who lived. My dad's mother lost a 4 year old from burns she received from catching her dress on fire when she got too close to the fire under the pot that my grandmother (her oldest sister) was washing clothes in. The pioneers had so many tragedies to deal with. They had to be strong in their faith and strong physically also. Thank you for this video, looking forward to the next one.
Another great tour. Very encouraging to hear that people got together to clean a cemetery. Very amazing and unigue marker, they really were hurt when that baby died, how heart breaking and sad. Beautiful and peaceful place for sure. I found it a surprise that the graves were for the most part from one era and one style of burial. The Bronze Star Medal (BSM) is a United States Armed Forces decoration awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone. Looking firward to another visit here. Thanks to Cecil and to you, Robert! 👍👍❣️❣️
2:10 George Hartage is my Great Great grandfather, and his sister 4:00 Nannie Wooden is my Great Great Aunt. I'm learning so much about this side of my family, I never knew about them but I'm grateful to be able to learn and meet more and more of this side of my family.
You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the work that you do in locating lost cemeteries and the grave restoration work . I was really surprised when I saw that you were at Mahalia chapel cemetery today. This is the cemetery where my great-grandparents are buried as a matter of fact the first headstone that you showed, Reverend George Washington Hartage, is my great-grandfather's grave. I was there on the day about 8 years ago that Cecil spoke of when he and his son came and helped clean up Mahalia chapel cemetery. Once again Cecil thank you and your son for coming out to help us that day at Mahalia Chapel.
Cecil; and BOTH Roberts; Dan and all of the others thank you for documenting this for future generations and hopefully mapping them for logging ect. As I have said before that my whole maternal great grandfather and before are lost; no records of death just dropped off census. Kids and wives existed and documented up to my grandfather who died in 1990. Even crazier because of the war my grandfather made himself 2 years older and went to WW2 at age 16…..I think years of birth are 1917 and 1919?
Thank you, Cecil, and to your family, for your dedication to recording graveyards and cemeteries, and volunteering to clean them up. We really enjoying this channel. Thank you Robert.
I agree that the first cemetery was so peaceful. I love the sunlight through the trees. Sondra beat me to the military abbreviation - my Dad has a Bronze Star and will have BSM on his military stone. Thank you to Cecil for assisting with the cemetery clean-up. I am amazed at all of the work Cecil has put into documenting and researching these cemeteries! I have really enjoyed this series of tours. Thank you!
9:17 FYI it stands for Bronze Star Medal and he passed away a little over a year after the Vietnam war ended- my dad enlisted in the Army in the early 1980's and when he went in there was still a few Vietnam vets in (he became good friends with a few of them) and he tells me all the time that they really struggled so i'm wondering what George's story is because he passed away so young (tried looking but couldn't find anything online)😕 Thank you for your service ❤️🇺🇸
Robert, The way you read off the names on the headstones. It can be emotional, And Let's you no, that that was a person enda life. You are really good with these shows, thanks
Robert you and Cecil are a great match. Both enjoy looking after old cemeteries and you both do a great job of caring for them and recording them for the future. Thank you for all you both do. I salute you both.
You and CECIL make a great team, too ! Each of your friends who adventure with you makes the perfect partner ! Dan for the "dug deeper" stories that fascinate, and you two make us chuckle, and all the others too ! Let the guys know how much they add to the show with their personalities and talents complimenting yours and vice versa
Wow, Cecil knows a lot of cemeteries! That's great. Good video, Robert! That shell-shaped headstone was so covered in lichens, that I couldn't tell there was a little baby carved underneath it, at first. It really touched me when my eyes finally focused on it. What a lovely tribute to a baby that was so obviously loved and cherished.
Robert, thank you for your tour of Marion County. I enjoy watching all your videos. My 2nd great grandparents, Sean (Sim) and Rebecca Allen Hood Horne came from Ireland pre 1850 and lived in Marion County Georgia. I find them in the 1850 census but after that they disappeared from census records. In 1860 my great grandfather is found with the Greenberry Herring family. They came to Arkansas. His older sister, Josephine, went to a family by the name of Larimore, I believe. I have searched Marion County, Georgia Cemetery records on my phone and they are not there. I thought you or Dan might know if there was some sort of epidemic that may have happened between 1850 and 1860 that may be responsible for their disappearance. Again, thank you for all you do.
3:24 - That would be "She faltered by the wayside..." 14:36, there was a cemetery in another video where you showed us 2 or 3 of those shell gravestones. I think they were just like that one. Anyway, that was another enjoyable adventure. Very peaceful places there.
There is a similar headstone to the show baby headstone that you show in this video. That similar headstone is in Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta. I was there several times and would see that headstone every time I went.
Once again Cecil Young you came through with another GREAT cemetery. Ty for showing Robert and us and I look forward to you guys coming back with the Hogg family member. Cecil, have a question, you ever come across native american cemeteries? Ok so on to the next one...see you and Robert soon.
So wish you could comment from RUclips on your TV. Thanks for showing us the amazing headstone. I've never seen one like that either. They had money or were in the business themselves. I love when you walk through the cemetery reading off the names and dates. I'm an amateur genealogist myself and visit my local cemeteries hunting for gravestones. I take pictures not video and know how tiring it can be and especially now how hot/humid lovely GA is this time of year. Great work Cecil in taking us on the adventure also and inviting us into a glimpse of the work you do. You are a true asset for Robert.
God bless you Cecil for all that you do , and for the help in clean up of the Mahalia Cemetery, and for all that you and Robert do in filming and documenting these graves, and for putting the ones you find that have names and dates on them on Find a Grave. Will nay of your books ever go to National publishing to where I might get some or will there be a library that will ever record them digitally so that they maybe be found online?? As a Genealogy researcher, asking. The second cemetery you and Cecil visited, and the Hogg headstones, got me, with the Headstone of the sleeping child of the Hogg parents. Never seen on like that, and would be so beautiful if ever cleaned up with some D2. Precious.
I guess that I had not noticed that they are not many song birds at the cemeteries that you visit. That first cemetery that you visited had some sunshine and song birds that the overgrown cemeteries do not. Nice that people took the time and expense of clearing it out.
There are some Hoggs in Smyrna Presbyterian Cemetery, Marion County. One Thomas Hogg had a son named H. G. Hogg. He did not live long but likely related to Hoggs you saw. Cool! My Dad had some Hoggs in his line too.
The mother of the baby died not too long after her son. She was only 24. Cecil is a treasure trove of history for that area. Happy to see him join you. Always interesting.
Thank you Cecil, Mr. Robert this video hit closer to home. My great grandmother was a Wooten/ Wooden. I have went backyard in time to review all your sidesteps from Georgia. Do you allow individuals to tag along with you during your walk throughs? I understand why you don't reveal location and it shouldn't be. At some point, I would like to meet up and visit the grounds with you. Have you been to the Edison, Ga.?
For the poor gentleman looking for his mother’s grave, you can check with the funeral home. They have a map of the graves and their locations. I was trying to find two graves and the funeral director even followed me to the cemetery and showed me where the graves were and put two metal markers on them.
It would be pricey to do it, but wouldn't it be cool to be able to use D2 on those headstones. That one with the little fern growing on it was interesting. I
In Oregon, probably in the early 1900's (can't remember the date) my great great uncle's daughter married a Hogg when she was 18. When she was 19 she died in childbirth. The Hoggs got around (the country).
That is a very unusual headstone for a babies grave and I wonder if it would clean up with some of the D 2 cleaner it would look amazing if it could be done
Looks like George McKinney died of a heart attack while still in the Army. He was stationed at Fort Riley Kansas and had been in the Army for 18 years. He had the Good Conduct Medal 6th award, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star Medal listed on his headstone.
Old Swedes Church, my Great 15 generations ago went to Penn, before the Queen of England named it after Penn. Those were the oldest n first Quakers to go to Pennsyvania
This is "maintained" compared to the routine rural cemeteries, "it's so quiet and Peaceful, the birds are singing" and no "Leaves Crunching at Sonic level Descibles" ... lol

Cecil is a man of few words. But i admire his and Robert's dedication to preserving this history.
Much thanks to Cecil for all his hard work in helping uncover these once lost cemeteries.
The baby in the shell headstone was just adorable. It was a sweet way to ease a grieving parents heart.
That beautiful babies stone would be a candidate for the ol D2 treatment. Would love to see the skill of that craftsman. Much love from Iowa ❤❤❤
I appreciate Cecil. He seems knowledgeable and genuinely concerned for the preservation, respect and integrity of the old graves but doesn't aggrandize himself. Seems humble and sincere.😊
Cecil does a lot to help with restoring cemeteries. A lot of hard work is put into doing that. He and others will be blessed for their work!💯
No matter what cemetery you go to, the chirping of birds is so beautiful.
Cecil is a man of great dedication and kindness. Thank you from a host of the viewer’s heart. You will be rewarded greatly ✝️💖
BSM= Bronze Star Medal
Thank you! I was wondering what that meant. 💫
So peaceful there and birds chirping…
Thank you to Cecil and his son for cleaning up this cemetery! That had to have been A LOT of work.
It looks fantastic. Those are beautiful headstones. The children's graves are always the saddest.

That baby marker was beautiful. Thanks to all who cleaned up.
Thank you for showing us these beautiful cemeteries.♥️
Thank you for keeping the memories of another cemetery going.

I love it when Robert walks thru the crunchy leaves and reads the tombstones ❤❤❤❤
nothing sadder than seeing graves of children who died so young, thinking of the grief the parents must of felt
Cecil is a man of few words, but he has been amazing uncovering and documenting these many cemeteries.

Beautiful, peaceful cemetery, you guys are so respectful, know so much history of your area, thank you for what you do
Thank-you for mentioning the bird song. I'm always relieved to hear it during every cemetery tour.
Robert, thank you for the special video of the Old Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery. I'm looking forward to joining you when you go back!
Thank you, Cecil, and to your family, for your dedication to recording graveyards and cemeteries, and volunteering to clean them up. We really enjoying this channel. Thank you Robert.

Wow very old graveyards amazing headstones love history
I like thinking you're "still in the woods with Cecil" even though we haven't watched ina few days. 😊
Greetings from Melbourne, Australia. I love American historical cemeteries.
Beautiful cemeteries!
I'm trying to move to Marion County and am excited seeing all of these beautiful cemeteries. Cecil is awesome.
Cicil, has a heart of gold. I appreciate both of you 😊😊
Thanks to you and Cecil for doing this and always being so respectful ❤️🤗🐝
Robert, The way you read off the names on the headstones. It can be emotional, And Let's you no, that that was a person enda life. You are really good with these shows, thanks
Yes it was very interesting and thank you Cecil for sharing this with Robert so that he could share it to us thank you for sharing the cemetery
Robert you and Cecil are a great match. Both enjoy looking after old cemeteries and you both do a great job of caring for them and recording them for the future. Thank you for all you both do. I salute you both.

Wow..fantastic markers. Thanks for the trip today guys
That was a beautiful work of art for that child.

Thank you for another great video! Nice work. Cecil, you're a hero, for us and the departed.
It's so nice to see your videos. That calmness and peacefulness. ✨
Thank you Cecil! And Robert! Looking forward to going back… really enjoyed seeing and hearing about these cemeteries.
Awesome work Cecil. I love old cemeteries
Enjoy your videos keep them comming👍
Little Charlie Hogg and I share the same month and day of birth! His stone is phenomenal.
Wow, Cecil knows a lot of cemeteries! That's great. Good video, Robert! Cecil seems like an awesome guy that i would love to just chat with and have a beer. Keep up the great videos. Really enjoy them. LOVE the 4K
You're not going to believe this, but a classmate friend that graduated before me in 1960 just passed away. His name is Richard Hogg. Nice tour
3:24 - That would be "She faltered by the wayside..." 14:36, there was a cemetery in another video where you showed us 2 or 3 of those shell gravestones. I think they were just like that one.

Good job Robert and Cecil! I have learned so much from watching your videos.
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time. May the lord bless and protect you Robert and Cecil bringing out the past history
Thank you this was amazing God bless you both 🙏❤️
Very peaceful and well kept
The baby in a shell monument is beautiful. It love to see it cleaned ❤

Awesome beautiful
Thank you boys.
Cecil has a great sense of community!
Thank you.
Another great video. Thank you
Thank-you both, your videos are always interesting. I just love how respectful and calming your videos are. Kate from OZ.
Where is OZ? I'm not familiar with that abbreviation.
@@lsarlls3049 Australia.
@@lsarlls3049Oz is an abbreviation for Australia!

Thanks for these tours!!!

Someone probably mentioned this but: poison ivy, poison oak, fire ants, sink holes, thorns, etc. You have impressive dedication ❤
Bsm is probably the bronze star medal

Yes. The Hogg family is prominent in Texas, supporting the arts and numerous colleges and universities.
BSM bronze star metal 👍
The headstones on top of the slabs make me mindful of pillows on a bed.
I think so too.
That is a very unusual headstone for a babies grave and I wonder if it would clean up with some of the D 2 cleaner it would look amazing if it could be done

You guys😊 should have brushes & high intensity lights when you go through these old graveyards.
Old Swedes Church, my Great 15 generations ago went to Penn, before the Queen of England named it after Penn. Those were the oldest n first Quakers to go to Pennsyvania
you got green's i got them too in my tree
is it possible to place gravestones on the indentions that just say Unknown?

Would love to see someone clean that unique baby head stone😊
You guys gotta clean that babies market .. it’s beautiful!
