Had an Amazon catless DP on my 06 Passat for a few years back in Ohio. Held up to the weather just fine other than surface rust. It was "stainless" but not a high quality like 304. Welds held up fine. Based on my experience you will want to ditch the fiber gasket. It didn't take long for it to blow out. Get a high quality O2 spacer unless planning on tuning the rear O2 out. I ran a 42DD spacer with great results. Do NOT cut from the stock exhaust, cut from the DP if you need to shorten it. Do NOT wrap it. You will need to bend the mounting pins where it goes into the bracket and potentially cut them shorter to avoid it knocking against the subframe. Other than that the cheap downpipes work just fine.
From my experience using these cheaper exhaust parts the metal piping and fitting is generally pretty good but those cheap gaskets that come with them ALWAYS fail and start leaking weeks after. I end up having to replace them with a good quality gasket and do all the work again. I now just pick up a matching gasket from an auto parts store right at the beginning. Just saves me the headache later on.
Will a leaking gasket from an aftermarket Downpipe cause a buzzing sound under acceleration? i installed a catless dp a few weeks ago and am dealing with this
My catalytic converter is clogged so I am thinking to gut it get all that stuff inside the catalytic out. Is it going to sound normal or louder? I don't want to sound louder to be honest
@@najim-fx6626 no not as loud as mine with the borla exhaust. It will sound like my car with the stock exhaust. There are a few vids of it on my Channel
@@GermanEliteTuning i did it today and it sounds just fine and the car gained more power. The only problem is I get exhaust fume inside the car because of a leak. I have to get a new downpipe. Did you experience any exhaust fume or not?
Thanks for the vid mate. I have gti also all stock I want to put downpipe do i need to remap after? for now, i don't want to remap it maybe in the future. i just want the sound. thanks!
Hey I know this comment is a week late and I don’t know if you will see it, but it’s funny that I just bought this exact down pipe for my 2013 gti and I don’t live too far from you. If I see you on the street I’ll defiantly say hi.
German Elite Tuning Hey man, I haven’t installed it yet but my buddy’s friend is letting me use his shop this Sunday for their lift, but I’ll have help so it should go smoothly. Also where tf are some e85 pumps I can’t find any lol.
Right on man I hope the install goes smoothly. There is a chevron on Scottsdale road and dear valley that has e54. There is a Valero on Scottsdale Rd and Mckellips that has e54 and there is a chevon on valvista and broadway that has e70-e85 depending on the shipment they get. I’m not sure about the west side. You can check other the AZ ethonal finder Facebook page to find more stations.
Sounds way better than that raspy first fitment. Love the new pick up!!! PS: Pardon my rudeness Brad, but, When will we expect to see an awd noggy again?
Thanks. I liked how it sounded before so we will see how it does once I install an exhaust. Haha you are not being rude, I want to have it back to awd this month so we will see.
Agh man I need to do a 60-90 to compare my car. I feel like it’d be close. I feel like the GTI has better top end pull it seems like. How are you liking it for daily driving?
Yah same here. I will hopefully have some dragy data soon. The top end got better but it’s making a lot more power from 2500-5k now. It’s been an awesome daily so far. I have put almost 10k on it and I’m getting 26mpg
Great video. I have a 2011 GTI also. It has a OBX catback exhaust and a forge cold air intake. I have a OBX catless downpipe that came with my exhaust, but I never installed it because I knew I would need a tune. I was wondering what tune you used and how I could get it? Thanks.
Thank you very much. Nice I have heard the obx exhaust is good. I’m running my custom tune. I’m a Cobb pro tuner. If you have a Cobb accessport I can build you a tune. You can DM me on IG @getwatkins and we can chat
Is the down pipe still good nearly a month later? I'm highly considering getting this exact down pipe for my Mk6 GTI. In an ideal world, I would buy a Cobb TurboBack exhaust, but don't have the $700 ECS tuning is asking for it lol....Btw super beautiful B5 S4.

Hey I just did my downpipe but still sounding like your first start in your video 2:39,
What else do I need to do?
Pls let me know

I agree about the quality of the gaskets. i always try to use oem gaskets if possible. thanks for watching.

Yeah. Fluttering buzzing sound from the back of the engine. These gaskets are garbage. Oem 👍
can you do a video on the kess you used
The first clip sounded like my gti with turbo or manifold failure
Nice! Love how it sounds! Would my mk6 be louder than this or sound the same with a resonator delete and single exit exhaust. Just curious
It will be louder but it will still sound good with the stock cat back. If you need a tune once you install the Catless Downpipe let me know.
My catalytic converter is clogged so I am thinking to gut it get all that stuff inside the catalytic out. Is it going to sound normal or louder? I don't want to sound louder to be honest
It will be louder without cats. It allows more air to flow and also more exhaust noise.

Are you running an 02 spacer?
Wish mine worked that easy I order a cheap one like that knowing the gamble and the turbo flange didn’t line up with my turbo sadly
Hey nice vid I’m getting a VW CC in a couple of days will this Dpipe work on it? It’s a 2.0T FSI engine thanks
So is yours the pzev version? If not would you know where the third cat is?

Did you have to use a defouler or did you take care of that in the tune?
I have the tune calibrated for the downpipe

Will you get engine check light if you don’t use spacers for O2 sensor?
Without a tune or a good o2 spacer you will get a CEL.

Hey I am thinking of getting this Downpipe but I wanna know if that fits 2007 MK5 GTI
I’m not 100% sure if it will fit the mk5 gti. The turbo flange should be the same tho.
what tune did u end up running in this vid?
It was the first revision of my stage 2 tune that I am developing for it.
Do you have a link to that downpipe
Looks like they quit selling them on amazon.
Can you pass emission test with this pipe ? have you had any troubles with that ?
Bump!! I need to know as well
Is this hard to do
It takes a few hrs and is easiest to do on a lift but it can be fine on Jack stands.
in experience the bwa is lot better than ccza
What blow off valve do you have on that

That downpipe is restrictive!
It seems to flow well. I have the reducer on it so it will hook up to the factory so that is a little restrictive.
it is a small KO3, is about right, engine needs some back pressure.
