  • What does it take to be President? VVP lists a few qualities at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, 2019. (He left out being the Head of Intelligence in a previous life and knowing the system inside out really really helps! :P) PS - for those who don't know, Ukraine's new President is an actor by profession.

Inessa, you have my thanks for your work here. We will never meet, so I do not speak to impress you or to curry your favor. Just know that there are many people who admire your courage. We, those who fight the lies and the liars, do so at some risk to ourselves.

I don't know, but, he does seem to be so.. , unlike ANY of what the USA has had, since (right after) Jimmy Carter. Carter was the most honest president we've had, bar non, in my lifetime. He was even more honest than JFK. It simply is what it is. Putin kind of reminds me of Carter-- though he is able to get a LOT more done, and I think it is because, mainly, Putin does not have a secretive, underhanded, despicable set of despots, undoing his work and plotting against him. (I Know, he has some who despise him, but, it just is not the same.)

Vladimir Vladimirovich displays a well-honed view of mostly centralized decision-making processes. His views reflect on the generally stated Russian inability to understand, for example (picking an example from recent news), why Google's decision to no longer supply Huawei with software was independent of the decision by the US Government to make its announcement. In other words, having the same or similar information is not the same as making individual decisions. A second point is that having a centralized view of decision-making makes one vulnerable to having one's own decision making processes dumbed down -- and inner circle denied information. The quality of information flow is much better, maybe over 10 times better around the important edges, when decision making is decentralized and a President is more of a band-leader than a martinet-maestro. A wise bandleader has respect for the musicians. Look at how the wagons were circled around the Novichok incident, for example. And around VV's assurances that if someone were exposed to it, because it is "military grade" the person would die, rather than simply get ill. Or look at VV's notions of "the world is multipolar for everything except nuclear arms deals". Not really a head-scratcher if one is a trained investigator and looks for money flows as a matter of professional preoccupation.... I can continue, but the day is short and I am tired of "bossman morality lectures" from someone who has not had the tough questions asked of him since probably 2011.

My sense, is that Putin is the greatest actor of our modern time. I do not trust that he is who he expresses himself to be.

All the world leaders are playing a role.... that is part of the job description.

Your sense is completely wrong. One's intuition should work in conjunction with evidence. You should watch his famous speeches, his interviews and Russian or other objective documentaries, and then use your intuition

While I am at it. This is the first time I have heard Putin articulate his obvious "martinet maestro" style of decision-making (as opposed to distributive decision-enablement). He was sitting on a panel with Xi while he was stating with almost extreme clarity of thought (as much as someone who excludes arms treaties from multipolar world considerations can) his ideas about how it is that he does his job. "Was he showing off for Xi?" is an example of a hard question I bet nobody, not even the usually tough-enough Sophie Scheverdnadze would ask without someone stupid or with nothing to lose (such as me) running interference first. This passive-aggressiveness is an example of the ossification caused by centralizing power in the way Putin has done (to put my views down as diplomatically as possible).
And one more thing.... Baring the "martinet maestro" decision-making style like this for the first time, although one would expect Putin to deny showing off for Xi, could not possibly be "an amazing coincidence."

Google is not independent of the US government. Google is run by the CIA. You have absolutely no idea how decisions are made in Russia. You think Putin is a dictator? He is not. You cannot live if exposed to any amount of one of the Novichok agents. They are 10 times more deadly than VX. I am tired of morons who think they are smart. You are a trained investigator? I doubt it. You certainly haven't investigated anything to do with Russia. If you are an American you live in a fascist corporate dictatorship, not a democracy but a fake democracy. A democracy is not a democracy if all the people running are controlled by the same people. It's an illusion. Slavery works best when they don't know. And the reason the US wants Huawei banned is because the US government cannot spy on people through Huaweir products, and Huawei is superior to US companies.
