I think a lot of these old fiddle tunes were played at this tempo. Just picture groups of people dancing to this music 150 years ago. They wouldn't have been dancing modern clogging style but more like a waltz with partners spinning around the floor. The breakneck speed music that is played now is more of a modern thing. So, in my middle school (age 11-13) we were given the choice between learning a musical instrument or joining the chorus. Participation required. I chose to sing. But every time I watch something like this, I wish I’d learned to play instead.
