    if you watch wonder years today you get a double dose of nostalgia, the nostalgia within the nostalgia. a show that spans basically 4 decades. a show from the late 80's to early 90's that's set in the late 60's to early 70's.

      Try mash every episode has meaning not a single one is bad i did not like it as a kid. I could not understand it fully then when i went back an watched the whole thing as an adult it blew my mine how good an profound it really is. All the cast is wonderful but Alan Alda puts in an master performance in every episode.

    That kiss in the last episode was so symbolic. I love how the writers of the show have put in so much of depth to it, whether on purpose or it just happened to be that way, but I really admire that. In the pilot episode where they share their first kiss, it's Kevin who puts his jacket on Winnie like sort of wrapping her in his arms, and in the last episode, it's Winnie who wraps Kevin in her arms. That's perfect.

    I grew up with this show, Its one of those coming of age shows that comes along once in a lifetime, they don't make shows like these anymore. You fall inlove with the characters and you connect with them. Just rewatched it on Netflix and i was sad to see it end. You'll never see anything like this ever again

      That was me as well. I think the characters all graduated High School in 1974, and I graduated in 1973, so close enough. I was a Winnie who had a Kevin from about the 8th grade through the end of high school, and like the characters, we ebbed and flowed in our relationship. I even moved and went to a different school, like Winnie did. This show just brings back all those early teen emotions. I haven't seen my Kevin since the summer after we graduated. Love all the music and styles shown throughout the years of the show. Spot on!

    The brilliance of The Wonder Year was even though it set in the late 60s and early 70s, people of all ages could watch it and be reminded of their own childhood, when ever it was. For me, the early 80s. I was still living in real life what I was watching Kevin Arnold living on my tv. This was probably the most true to life television show I've ever seen.

    • @hourenschaiss2
      @hourenschaiss2 4 года назад +4

      True, same for me but I wonder if kids today would have the same experience when watching this. My childhood was in the 80s and early 90s too but so much has changed starting from the early 2000s. I started rewatching the episodes yesterday and in the first season Kevin and Paul want to learn about the female body and had to go to a library to steal a book about Sex and I remember what a mystery sex and the female anatomy were to me too as a child. Nowadays kids can and have seen everything they could ever want to know about that topic by simply doing a google search. Although I think that this show is one of the best ever created, a lot is lost forever for the newer generations.

      Wonder Years holds up over time. It was about the Silent Generation raising the Boomers...but I can get nostalgic about my childhood watching it. Lived in the suburbs, great childhood that had generational gap arguments within family being early Boomers and me being an early Millennial...obviously not as turbulent as those times, but a lot of parallels with Vietnam/Iraq and each generation making sense of a "new world" with different perspectives.

    That was truly touching.. I absolutely did NOT miss a single episode growing up. I was born in 1987 and The Wonder Years was one of my favorite non cartoon shows as a child. Winnie.... oh my god.. she was not only a childhood crush of mine but as they stated, she truly is everything that your first "butterflies" moment could be, she was just soo....uggghhhh just everything. I even once wrote a letter out and was going to send it to whomever I thought would reach the production and let them know that I would take Kevin's place 🤣🤣🤣 I will definitely be purchasing that set. Every time I hear Joe Cockers song I get a little emotional inside . Greatest show in its era PERIOD!!!! Kevin, Paul, Winnie..... God I wish I could have been there to see them.... great job guys!!!!!!!!!!!! Also on a second note, how would one obtain that locker set with the yearbook And all??? I must have this 👀

    • @JW-yb8du
      @JW-yb8du 6 лет назад +3

      princessUSA2 , I kind of agree with Fred, but then I don't. A first love is what you make it out to be. It can be a first love and nothing else or a first love and last love. The way Kevin talked about Winnie during the whole series, it seemed like she was his soulmate and he couldn't live without her. I can understand if they didn't want them together, but fans of the show deserved more of a reason then just saying it was a first love and things don't turn out the way you expect them to. I for one, would love to know why they broke up. Long distance,Winnie didn't want to get married, Kevin didn't want to get married or something other then what they said

    • @sovak75
      @sovak75 5 лет назад

      I understand what he is saying, and I might agree if they hadn’t kept coming back to each other throughout the entire series, including moments before in the barn. She was more than just his first love, she was his soulmate and it was pretty clear that they made love that night int he barn. I might agree with him if it hadn’t been so jarring. For anyone who didn’t know Independence Day wasn’t not meant to be the series finale. The show was cancelled after. It was filmed and the end narration at the parade was written and added after the fact to give the show more closure.

      NEDICK DUFREIN Yea, it has to do with copyright. They were able to show the clips live because it could fall under educational use. Anything can be used for educational (or religious) purpose. Since it is now on RUclips it can be considered as being used for a profit. The only ones who should profit from the show are those who played a role in making it. No reputable organization would use someone else's creative content. It would just get taken down eventually anyways.

    I watched a few sitcoms/dramas from the 80’s/90’s recently and this and Family Ties are classics. Although Fox was an amazing comedic actor on the show, Wonder Years was just ahead of it’s time. Liked how they broke the sitcom mold and didn’t have a studio audience/laugh track like every other TV show of that era

    I grew up in Long Island New York in the early 80’s till I moved west in 1991. This tv show reminds me of my childhood to, a, T! I watch it over and over and then, I watch it again and again, now with my 5 kids!

      Laura Camilleri Yea, it has to do with copyright.

    It is very good to see a series with actors who do not separate from reality, who have the same virtues and defects as their characters and from which I can identify and say that I lived that, and that anywhere in the world there is another living what same.

    What makes it even more nostalgic is that our kids now won't get to experience a childhood like that. It's so sad. Take a drive around your neighborhood..you won't see one child outside playing..Now the kid's are inside, alone, watching shows about how boys can be girls and girls can be boys.

    The Wonder Years is possibly my favourite show ever. I was 12/13 when it started, so I felt like I grew up alongside them. Despite all that I only watch it every now and then, because every episode feels like I am going through something. It drains me emotionally, I feel like I have to prepare myself for it, anytime I plan to watch. The writing, the direction, the production, the soundtrack and of course the acting - by these three, but also Dan Lauria, Ally Mills, Olivia d'Abo and Jason Hervey - was phenomenal. The only production that comes close to creating this kind of emotion, is one of the best films ever made, Stand By Me. It is so difficult to capture the joy and pain of adolescence - I honestly can't think of another example on par with the two I have mentioned.

      +Katie12886 when they do interviews in this format they usually cut out the footage. Watch any Inside the Actors Studio interviews that are lengthy and they also cut out the footage. Probably has to do with copyright issues or the videos being too long.

    Also, that last clip they show of Kevin and Winnie kissing...so surreal to see them watching themselves...I wonder if when they were filming that they were thinking to themselves...someday about 20 years from now on the other side of that camera lens there sits our future selves on a stage in an auditorium doing a reunion of this show and we will be watching ourselves!
