It's not dying! They're only doing so in America. Look to Japan for some incredibly hand-drawn animated feature films. I have a hunch that France may also be playing a big part in the hand-drawn 2D animation industry in the future as well.

I like the details to the animation. Even in just the first few seconds you can see a father comforting his child, an exhausted doctor making a note, and a very downcast nurse bringing in another child. The child, especially, has this look of confusion on his face as the doctor writes down something (a diagnosis maybe). It's brief but it gives a sense that this poor town is firmly in the middle of an epidemic that is breaking everyone's hearts.
After Rosie goes into the exam room and Jenna is looking for her through the windows, I noticed the same thing. Another doctor and nurses caring for other children while the parents worriedly look on. One nurse in the second room is helping a child into bed while another nurse takes off the boy’s sweater.
Also Rosie is the only human character with the large expressive eyes. Two reasons for this-to indicate that all the characters with those eyes are major parts of the story. The other is so she can convey her emotions. Try to imagine Rosie with eyes the same size as the other people….
When the doctor is looking at his stock of medication, the bottles are real historical bottles containing drugs used at the time. The attention to detail is amazing!

Togo run most of the hard way, but also, Balto found way home during very tough weather, it wasn't easy, we shouldn't make one bigger in the cost of another, why to choose, if not them, it wouldn't be a success, every part of a mission is important and crucial, even the smallest and it was a team effort.
One thing I’m really impressed with, the art work between wolf and husky, both have similar but different features, for example wolves ears are closer together where as the husky’s ears are more separate, same with with there muzzles and paws, I felt like the artist did such a fantastic job of showing the details really well! Cartoon but realistic! 🐺 🐾
ok can someone PLEASE explain to me 1. How balto survived the trip down the mountainside and 2 (and more importantly) HTF DID THEY NOT DESTROY THE ANTITOXIN HERE??????
The sickness in this video reminds me of my eerie past. I almost died of rsv in 2017 and none of the meds worked. I was given some liquid medicine to take before bed and it settled in my lungs. I couldn't breathe lying down so I sat up and took a big breath in and couldn't breathe back out I tried again but got stuck further. It was a tight suction feeling. I sat there for a few minutes with my chest stuck forward. Eventually, my peripheral vision went out and then my center vision went white. My hearing started fading too and I was having heart palpitations. I didn't feel anything for a second and then I got my breath back after I passed out for a second. It would have been easy to just give up and die but I was too scared to do that. It was the scariest thing that ever happened to me and it took me 3, almost 4 months to recover from the illness.
Friendly reminder, 20 teams colaborated in the mission, and Balto's team finished the race and delivered the medicine. Togo's team took the longest distance, because the owner offerd to do so. The main point of the story is not who ran the most, but about teamwork.
The actual (non-Disneyfied) story is a fascinating read if anyone looks into it. It was Nome Alaska in 1925, which wasn't even considered super-remote by Alaskan standards at the time, but in an era before plane travel, was only serviceable by ship, and thus almost completely cut off in winter. The doctor was actually aware that his antitoxin had expired and had ordered more the previous spring, but it hadn't arrived on the last ship of the fall, and just their luck that was when a diptheria outbreak hit. It's actually unknown exactly how many children died before the dog run finally brought the antitoxin, because the Nome doctor also serviced surrounding Indigenous communities who would sometimes bury their children without reporting illness or death to anyone. But in a small community, the disease spread like wildfire.
It kinda bothers me how thirsty Balto is on every sentence he says to Jenna. Even when she is super worried for the kid, following him underground, he thinks of romance.
Sad thing is that actually happened, not the whole balto thing. But the fact whole influenza out break in nome Alaska, sad thing is that they didn't have penicillin to treat it. They couldn't deliver it by plane because tye winter is treacherous and the engines would freeze, train wasn't a option nether cause the train didn't go that far out. Best thing did was use the train to ship it to its closest city which unfortunately was still a few miles from nome. So they used a sledding team of dogs to deliver the life saving medicine.
I loved this movie as a kid. Seeing those kids coughing without covering their mouths just makes me cringe now. I loved the part where Balto said that big paws ran in his family.
"Hey that can't be legal!" I find that comment sadly hilarious given I've seen numerous times dogs got into fights. Also the team circling Steele & Balto...anyone who read Call of the Wild would be getting familiar vibes to Buck vs Spitz

I Think I Remember Watching This Movie

0:53 Attention to detail, Doctor is checking for an enlarged neck, a common symptom of diphtheria
Beautiful dogs.
I remember this movie. I've been wondering about it for a few months now.
This was, and still is, quality entertainment. But it went hand-in-hand with quality staff and direction.
ok can someone PLEASE explain to me 1. How balto survived the trip down the mountainside and 2 (and more importantly) HTF DID THEY NOT DESTROY THE ANTITOXIN HERE??????
Cartoon logic.
I remember watching this when I was a younger I am 15 now this film is really good tbh
I use to watch this all the time when I was a kid
You left at the best part!!You could not make the video any longer!?
Friendly reminder that balto wasnt the one to bring medication to the village. Togo did.
Friendly reminder, 20 teams colaborated in the mission, and Balto's team finished the race and delivered the medicine.
Togo's team took the longest distance, because the owner offerd to do so. The main point of the story is not who ran the most, but about teamwork.
Oh I remember watching this 😭
Wow.. This was my favorite movie I watched on Minimax when I was a litter child ❤️
It's even scarier to think if it was tuberculosis which a cure wouldn't be found until 22 years after this outbreak happened
32 year old me just had a flashback of watching this so many damn times🤙🏽
oh god...I missed this movie.
Balto should be bigger than Steele since he is half wolf.
Steele was KILLING Rosy and the other kids.
i used to be so terrified of that scene where he fell of the cliff... TvT
It kinda bothers me how thirsty Balto is on every sentence he says to Jenna. Even when she is super worried for the kid, following him underground, he thinks of romance.
ha, big paws kinda run in my family * wink * 🤦
Beautiful movie
I named my first dog Jenna because of this movie!
In reality, it was Togo who traveled the farthest with the medicine. Balto got all the credit because he was the one to travel with it into town.
🐕 = Man's best friend😀
Even as an adult, I don’t like the sound of this cough. Sickness sucks
If you’re talking about Diphtheria; honey, that’s an understatement.
Hermosos personajes la voz suabe como el viento ❤
I remember this when I was a kid😂
Oh No all of the childrens have got a Fevers 🤧🤒
This sickness is very contagious
I loved this movie as a kid. Seeing those kids coughing without covering their mouths just makes me cringe now. I loved the part where Balto said that big paws ran in his family.
What's with Steele? All Balto wants to do is help
Yeah don’t act like Mr. Know it All
the other dogs commentary is hilarious
"Hey that can't be legal!" I find that comment sadly hilarious given I've seen numerous times dogs got into fights. Also the team circling Steele & Balto...anyone who read Call of the Wild would be getting familiar vibes to Buck vs Spitz
Diphtheria was the disease outbreak they were dealing with, in case anyone was curious.
