    This was a super helpful video, thanks. I was glad that you touched on the ability to play chords - something my Digitakt can’t even do. Well, not without painful workarounds.

    I have always been curious about trying one of these. Had a Remix 16, ditched it for a 2000 and never looked back. Now using the 2000XL but consider the older samples as highly valuable. I use the 16-level features on the MPC to play melodies and can attest it takes setting the delay and attack just right to get the more melodic feel. Thx for sharing!!

    Great video, I noticed you have an SU10 in the background, which do you prefer the S20 or SU10?

    • @lugo4905
      @lugo4905  Месяц назад

      @@canecreek00 the S20 runs circles around the SU10 and laughs at it in terms of sound and functionality. But the SU10 has the cool ribbon effects and is battery powered.
      The S20 is more of a proper sound module whereas the SU10 is a cool performance and improvisation tool.

      @@lugo4905 thanks for the reply, I still have a SU10 that I bought new back in the 90’s and I’m pondering if I should get an S20

    This is what I used to make beats along with an MC-303 back in the late 90s.

      @@cartoonvandal that’s funny. I was a nice basic setup in the late 90s. I still have my S20. Do you know if there is any way to mod it to use an SD or SSD?

    Think you! Great TUTORIAL ! I got one for free. I die not come with a power supply. And it did not work with average ones. It needs very specific values like an old NES. It works and I cleaned it. That was not done since the nineties. I hope to get something great out of it.

    I bought remix16 (dj version of s20) today. It will arrive in the next week, so I thought I'll ask about one thing. How small/short can loop be? I'm thinking about using it as single cycle waveform player with longer release. It would require some tight looping - is it possible with your s20?

      Absolutely possible 👍

    Man I swear that before you mentioned muting the particular samples I was like "this dude is so over complicating the process" but then it all came to the reasnable conclusion... It is a briliant setup and I'm more than excited to see that an I pad and some App will cover the song structuring better than anything else, I have up my plan to get back my mpc2kxl wich I sold 2 yrs back. I was to repurchase it to control the akai remix16 and ensoniq asr-x but nów seeing that App... What is it? Is it ipad or android? Oh and I can see that Yamaha su10 over there, you certainly know whats good. Big ups from Poland m8, keep it going, very good video.!

    Whats the most you would pay for a s20? I would like one but dont know how much i should pay. Thanks

      I wouldn’t pay any more than $250-$300 especially when you can get more feature packed S series samplers for that amount of money

    Question how would this work with a sp1200 E-mu

    • @lugo4905
      @lugo4905  2 года назад

      Each one of your banks on the SP has a midi channel. So the SP would be the master sequencer. You’d get 8 midi channels to send to the S20

  • @sairbashir9784
    @sairbashir9784 3 года назад +1

    so this machine has no internal sequencer?

    • @lugo4905
      @lugo4905  3 года назад

      It has a 4 track sequencer. No ability to edit or arrange your sequences. It’s more of a performance capture type sequencer. Does not record external midi - only records button presses.

    how did you setup the midi within cubasis

    • @lugo4905
      @lugo4905  2 года назад

      I just assigned the outputs of each track to the corresponding pads. Drums on one channel, sample chops on another midi channel, bass on another, ect

    how to put sounds into the s20?

    • @lugo4905
      @lugo4905  2 года назад

      You have to record them in. The S20 has a proprietary Akai sound file system. You can’t import wav files.
