Thank you. That was very helpful. I definitely learned something new in all three videos about cloth for cross stitching I have have been stitching for a very long time!
I love getting all the tips for different fabrics and counts. I started stitching 3 years ago and have tried many new fabrics, and thanks to Kimberly, I have 3x the amount of unfinished stitching projects to UFO quilt tops🤣
Great information to have thank you for sharing this information with us. Thank you Kimberly and Cheryl for taking the time to explain the differences in fabric we can use for stitching.
I love the videos about the different fabrics! I have been stitching since 1983 and having a wide variety of fabrics and colors is awesome! Thank you for all of the hard work you and your team do for us! From (still) snowy Colorado!
I’ve cross stitched for many years, most of the time on 32 count Belfast linen. I love the feel of linen when stitching. As I’ve gotten older, it’s been harder and harder to see the holes in the linen. I use a light up magnifying glass floor lamp, and that helps. Now it’s just easier to stitch on 14 count Aida.
I have been waiting for this video! I like stitching on linen but am not super knowledgeable about it. I was so excited to have the definitions of Cashel, Belfast & Newcastle explained!!! Great info & explanation of the differences between brands as well-Thanks so much, you have made me a happy stitcher 😊
Great information. Have you notice more Shrinkage of one hand-dyed fabric brand over another? Each side is different, so then there is no front or back of the fabric, just choose the mottling you like to use it? I like many brands of hand-dyed. I use Best Press spray before stitching on Linen especially.
Great linen explanation. I'm newly returned to cross stitch and had never stitched on linen. But it was the perfect fabric for my project so I gave 32ct a try. I had to get a magnifying lamp to see it well enough, but the results are beautiful.
Learned a lot. Thanks. Have stitched for a couple years now, but I enjoy Aida so much, not sure I am ready to switch. I have purchased even weave. This has been a great series. Looking forward to the floss video.
Thank you for this very informative video, I purchased Susan Ache's book "Summer Memories" through FQS for the quilt along. I noticed the cross-stitch patterns in the book, I am going to try cross-stitch, the patterns are adorable.
These videos are great. I have been stitching for a long time but still learn from them. Are you planning any videos on quilting thread? I would love to see video with quilt thread companies.
Thank you for these lessons! I love the new gingham that you have Can you make a pink gingham and a green or yellow? Can you get 14 count raw Pettie point in red dots?
This was very helpful, thank you. I’ve been wondering what the difference was between Cashel and Belfast and whatnot, so that was great. Why can’t you do the loop method with linen? I didn’t know that.
Thank you for today's fabric information. Sorry I. missed it in real time. But, I watched later and it was great information. Thank you What kind of light do you recommend to work on linen.
Hello Sylvia! When Kimberly stitches on-the-go she uses the Halo Go Rechargeable Table Magnifier - bit.ly/3eefbCi When she stitches at home she uses the Stella Two LED Task Lamp - bit.ly/3JxJWQh
Speaking as a fan of FQS, I noticed that some of your linen, there isn't the option for larger cuts of fabric, which forces me to purchase from other shop.
Fantastic video. Very informative. Which hand dyed fabrics are NOT colorfast? Do linens fade over time? Years ago, R&R Reproductions linens were not colorfast & faded over time. TFS.
I’m coming back to cross stitch after being away about 20 years. I don’t recall hearing 1 over 2 or 2 over 2 back then but I feel like I’m hearing it quite a lot now. When these terms are used, it only refers to using linen fabric, correct? I just want to be sure I understand. Thanks!
Very informative. Thanks.
Thank you so much Kimberly, very helpful.
Thank you, Kimberly and FQS, for sharing your knowledge of linen. Awesome job!
Look forward to your upcoming floss video. Happy Easter!
Linen is the best! Glad to see it on here. I’m not into whimsical patterns so hoping you start spreading the love across designers. ❤😊

I've read that to soften stiff cross stitch fabric, throw it in the dryer with a dryer sheet and a damp wash cloth.
Thank you. Great information. I love stitching on 36ct or 40ct linens. ❤
I have project of a bug house tapestry to be finish soon

Fantastic video. Very informative. Which hand dyed fabrics are NOT colorfast? Do linens fade over time? Years ago, R&R Reproductions linens were not colorfast & faded over time. TFS.
Hello Sue! We do not know of any hand-dyed fabrics that are colorfast. Linens only fade over time when exposed to sunlight.
But I have to wait for my shoulder to heal
Do you line the back of cross stitch fabric?
Hello Valerie! No, Kimberly does not line the back of her fabric.
The hand dyed linen looks very wrinkled, will the wrinkles come out when ironing our finished piece?
Hello Nancy! Yes, we commend using this cloth and pressing on the back of your stitches www.fatquartershop.com/ultimate-pressing-cloth-yarn-tree

I use linen for embroidery not cross stitch

Hello Gigi! It typically refers to fabrics that are a higher count like 25 or higher because the holes in the fabric are smaller and closer together.
