Попробуйте может привязать яркость lightmap'ки на объекте к частному косинуса угла отклонения автомобиля от дальности до отражателя? Ну или просто мигалки воткните на базе всё той же lightmap'ы или спрайта с эффектом свечения, как в первом андеграунде.
