- Come explore Ireland's least-visited island with me. Inishkea island was abandoned in the late 1920s and early 1930s after a number of young fisherman were drowned at sea. Inishkea North and South islands were totally self-sufficient, even providing food back to the mainland as the island was unaffected by the Irish famine.

Could you say that St. Deirbhile's Well was a site for sore eyes?
Clare!!! Greetings! Dia duit! The dip in the Belmullet Tidal pool looked brisk and refreshing! Kea has such the accent! What a beautiful visit you shared! GRMA! Bring FOOD!! And sunscreen!! Ha! You are GREATLY appreciated! Keep your Light Shining!!! Again, GRMA!!! Slan!!
That was really nice. A little bit of history. Well done thank you.👍
I love it , the tour guide is quite the speaker, beautiful video, rome new york
That looks like a peaceful place to spend the night
"..and on the island, there are lots and lots of sheep." The way you said that just made me laugh out loud for no reason LOL
That young lady was so interesting. Thanks for sharing enjoyed it.
I love, love, LOVE your road trip videos around Ireland. You have given us so much beauty that Ireland has... places and events I never heard of! I want to visit Ireland! Thanks for your videos, Clare!
Thank you so much 😭😭
Excellent video Clisare, I just realized not only are you one of my favorite ladies from the TRY Channel but you are the ONLY female youtuber that I am subscribed to.
I agree. Very interesting. Little sad too. I hope it comes back. Thank you!
It looks peaceful there. Thanks for the video
Adding this to my list of places to see. 😊😊
Thanks Claire for your amazing visits of home x
I would definitely be going through that Church window three times! 😆 Protect me on my trip home, please!!! LOL
Beautiful island...but what a grueaome story!
Island and staying over alone...there's the start of a horror film
I will definitely be visiting it’s beautiful ❤
Great video , Clare !!! That young Lady does a fantastic job ! Looks like a great time ! 🧡🤍💚☘️☘️
Thank you so much for sharing this with us 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Phenomenal scenes from the island! Looks like it would be wild peaceful! Can’t wait to see more! As always, thanks for sharing!!!!! Greatly appreciate it! 💚🤍🧡
That's of the places I hope to stop at when I sail over there.
Well done Clare!
More journalistic Irish wonderfulness from Claire the Journalist. Many thanks for your continuing efforts. Hi to Millie,,,
Even though I'm a very lousy tourist, this is something I would love to do. Seems to more exploring than touring and where you can actually learn somethings. Thank you, Clare. You're a darlin'.
I've seen a movie about the last residents and would love to visit on my next trip to Ireland. Another lovely video ❤
Thanks, that is a very cool island!
I truly love the Irish Lore and what a place to visit. Good on them for providing you with a lunch, had to chuckle a bit over that one little lady. Outstanding they are restoring some of the cottages. Enjoyed every minute of this one as always best to all and scritches for Miss Millie.
That was very interesting, thank you so much! The quiet reminded me of the aftermath of hurricane Katrina a bit. Of course New Orleans isn't anywhere near the Gulf of Mexico, but all the empty houses, with no one about, and no traffic at all made me feel like I was in a zombie movie. Living right next to a park where I'd see shadows moving at night didn't help. I'm very much looking forward to the vidoes you mentioned! Thank you!
Another great trip.
I love your contents Clare! Keep up
Great video thank you for sharing that was a very beautiful Island and a great story and history lesson
Another great video Claire
I love visiting abandoned areas. Your tour of Ireland videos have been so lovely to watch. Thank you for all that you do for all of us! Sláinte! ~Be Blessed
Deirbhile sound like my kinda lady, and would do well in fending off the Tinder creeps these days :D
I always wonder if the last resident who stepped off the island understood how significant that was, and if it felt like grief or sadness to be leaving.
Thank you for taking me along on your adventures. I look forward to all your videos. Love from Ontario Canada
Great video! Such a beautiful island! Thanks so much for sharing all the cool out of the way places around Ireland!
As always with your 'Irish Bucket List' videos...checked out of your list, going directly into mine🤩Inishkea looks beautiful and even more with the nice weather
thank you for showing us this video.
Love your road trip videos and how you show things off the beaten track. Really enjoying the Mayo stuff - my grandparents were born there. Definitely would like to take this tour. A few years back we visited Ireland and spent a night on Inishmore. I remember being struck by how quiet it was like you were mentioning here.
Ah, Irn Bru! Even though it is a Scottish soft drink, it is quite good (and one of the stores down the street from where I live in Boston sells both bottles and cans). That was a good tour of the island, though...
That looks like an amazing place to visit.
Such a lovely place
Why does this remind me of the film "The Secrets of Roan Inish?"
I've enjoyed all your travel videos! I'll preface my question by saying that I know nothing about keeping sheep, but I have seen some videos where professional shearers have shown shearing sheep whose fleece had been badly matted and the neglected animals were suffering because of it. I'm curious as to who (if anyone) owns or tends to the sheep on this long-abandoned island?
I do think they’re owned by people who own land on the island but I asked, and I’m pretty sure she said they mostly just eat the grass on the island. Shearing is a good Q. 🤔
Thank you. 💗
This sort of video makes me want to buy a small parcel somewhere and build or restore a small cabin for vacation use or possibly even several months a year. Helping rebuild the local micro-economy of a place like that while getting to know local neighbors would be great. Of course, it sounds like there is no remaining local community on this particular island at all, so it probably wouldn’t be a good fit for my idea.
Thank you, Claire ❤
Bhí sé seo go hiontach, go raibh mile maith agat!
would be great to go, if possible, before it gets all modernized and starbuck'd
Very coooooooooo!
Clisare, I just wanted to say hello. I hope that you are doing well. My brother and I want to go to Ireland and visit. I went to the Tartan Scottish museum here in the U.S. I gave the guy my great grandparents and grandparents names on my mom and dad's side. The guy looked it up and my whole family names were all from Scotland. That is 9 tartans in my family. I might have Irish heritage too.
Clisare, this is probably a dumb question. I want to date and Irish woman or Scottish woman. How can I meet someone?
I wonder why some of my ancestors left the magical place known as Ireland, over 1200 years ago.
The story about the eyes reminds of Minority Report.
This reminded me of The Secret of Roan Inish.
❤❤❤
💚
Could you do a video on The Addergoole 14 memorial?
👍👍👍
Honey, you and that tour guide NEED hats! Wrinkle prevention! (Just look at the (JFK) Kennedy women who spent their lives sailing and playing tennis! 😱
I was wearing a hat! I just took it off for lunch because I also put suncream on my face during lunch but on the boat and exploring I was wearing one 😊
Hi my Favorite ❤❤❤

!ALGORITHM!
Was the white obelisk towards the end a lighthouse? Is the north island still inhabited?
Neither are inhabited anymore, except for one man who comes back to live on.. I think the North Island (unsure) alone in the summer! But you can rent one of the cottages on the South Island to stay there for a night.
Hey hey u . 💚
When will you do Poulnabrone?
Where’s that?
@@Clisare County Clare,megalithic dolman,5,000 yrs old.
The most notable thing about Derbhile was that the man was her dad and he ultimately killed her.
The man that wanted to marry her was her Dad….?!

Poor man my arse..christ she must of really hated that man..
Maith an cailin. Ta se go h-iontacht an Gaeilge a cloiiseant.
Looks perfect for a Russian Mobster, to buy the whole island.
Which they do ya know.
Put in a real Naval Dock
Rebuild it all better, and rent it back to the your generation, at half of
rate that Dublin gets.
Just like they've done in London, NYC, and Dublin. lol!
Clisare darling, for those of us hard of hearing, and those who sometimes cannot make out what you're saying due to wind noise,or distance from camera or lost in translation, verbatim captions along the bottom would be so appreciated as the YT captions are so far off of actual words and misplaced, skipped, lost words that one cannot make out what's really being said..and if no one else appreciates it,I most sincerely would there girl ;-) slon slon.
There ARE verbatim captions edited into this video??? I’m so confused 😭😭
That's all Ireland needs is another American like me visiting to find my bastardized genetic homeland.
