- Has the time come for your baby and toddler to share a room? Are you worried them waking each other up?
As a mom of 5 who has done the whole two under two three times now, here on some things I do to muffle out the noise so they dont wake each other up 😴
What are some tips vou have when it comes to vour kids sharing a room?

I know now most parents want noise machines, but I used classical music in both my nurseries well into toddler years. It was lovingly referred to as Monster Music in our house as monsters could not come if it was on. Both my children still love classical music, and both are honors students as well.
i played my moms wedding soundtrack because it was all gorgeous instrumental and i couldn’t sleep without it until i was like 10, i love that music
@@LizaJane-yh5kl no
as an honors student i have a air purifier in my room and it’s the loudest thing ever so i call that my white noise machine lmao
For some reason sound machines have always given me a headache so music has always been my go to
@@cofffee817 Agreed, even the few seconds in this video made my skin crawl - I can't sleep if there's any sort of noise and sound machines (or even just a fan) are the absolute worst
i had to share a room with my baby brother when i was like 9 and it was the worst experience of my life, i never got a full nights sleep and sometimes my parents wouldn’t hear him crying so i had to get up to get them after like five minutes of listening to the crying baby, it’s good you’re trying to prevent them from waking each other up because my parents did not put that much effort into it for me
I honestly think it's messed up to have your baby that doesn't sleep through the night yet in any other child's room. If there is no choice, the baby should stay in your room. It also just makes sense logistically
They sometimes wake one another up in the morning.
Congrats on the next phase. Does that mean you and hubby get room back! If so congrats!
Hey! I love these tips, would you make a full video of these!
This would stress me out so much you are such a good mom
Way to go, mama! Keep us posted-I have been waiting for this video!
How old have your babies been when you moved them into the room with their toddler siblings? Did you watch out for any sleep habits (i.e. weaned through the night, sleeps through the night with only one or no wakings, etc) to indicate that baby was ready to be moved, or did you go by a certain age? Thanks for your videos and advice!! ❤️
I also have a sound machine. It’s a life saver for me
The sound machine you showed is amazing! I'm never having kids but me and the husband have it on full time. Lots of ways to adjust it, good price. 👍
Thats the best phase to link their sleep cycles. If baby and toddler are sharing a room it means baby is sleeping through the night.
I know the noise machines are super popular, but after watching three different sets of nieces and nephews have genuine difficulties because their parents had used white noise since birth, I decided I'd rather have a smaller struggle on the front end than distress and sleep problems in their older years.
How do you know it’s the noise machine? What makes them distressed sleepers? Sounds like a lot of assumptions are being made about the cause without any actual data to back it up. I would think it would be more distressing to be woken up all the time by the other. Now, the sound machines shouldn’t be too close or too loud because that can cause issues to their developing ears ❤️
I like your wall decorations. Are the paintings ? Simple and fresh room.
White noise machines in the kiddos rooms are a godsend for parents! 🙌
I just got the Dohm and I LOVE IT! It's for when baby naps, but also my cat likes to meow and wake us up.
The Bonoch baby monitor though ❤ we love ours! I don't think they get enough credit honestly
I have that sound machine with the fan in it and I love it too!
She seems like she has it covered. A suggestion to add to this. My toddler has a hatch. It is a sound machine and a light. You can choose the sound, volume, light color and brightness. It also is easy to program for naps, wake up and sleepy time. My toddler is used to her colors, a dark blue for sleep (keeps the room dark and gives just enough color and light to not be scared) and a bright green for, it’s ok to wake mom up, get out of bed, and start the day. Being pregnant I hope that this will work out when we transition her into a big girl bed before baby.
You have very pretty skin and beautiful hair.
I am about to have to do this for the first time. Thanks!!
Keep the sound machine across the room at least 15 ft away from the kiddos. It emits super high EMF when we tested it with our meters. We love those sound machines.
Thank you for this video. I have a two year old and a baby on the way. I always wondered how I was going to do room sharing for when the time comes
Oh I am so glad this helped a bit!!
I kept my babies with me in bed and when they were a little bigger in a baby bed beside mine.
I found that my son wasn’t even bothered by his brother when he was a baby and even now at 7&4 if his brother wakes up he is in such a dead sleep he doesn’t move. We established potty training so now my little is figuring out waking up at night for the potty.
Loveeeee this advice...
Okay I have Questions! I really hope that you answer cuz am desperate for this.
Your baby monitor is it good? How long have you had it? Does it work at night? Have you had any issues with it? Would you buy it again? Which one did you buy?
Mine doesn't work at night anymore (night vision), in less than a year by the way.
Thanks in advance!
Where are the pictures from? Looove this room!
Soon to be first time mom!!! What's the name of the sound machine?!
Can you give recommendations on baby monitors?
A box fan works for noise, too.
We just moved our 3 and 4 year old in together so baby could have their own room. So far so good!! We have the noise machine as well
I’m at the phase where my baby and my toddler purposely wake each other up so they can laugh together. It’s the cutest but so, so frustrating!
Mine just played peekaboo untill they passed out. 😅
I wouldn't do this you can typically get a baby to fall asleep a toddler is another story.
I'm going the other way with it this time. Toddler will be sharing a room with her 5 and 7 year old sisters and baby will have her own room. Fingers crossed it works out 🤞
Baby’s don’t really need a lot of room. Keep your toddler in her room and have the baby with you
@@J_Who_Gets_NO_Sleep our other 3 girls have moved to a crib at 4 months when they start getting more distracted by things happening in our room. They just sleep so much better when it's as dark and quiet as possible. Nothing really to do with space.
I like this idea.
Your poor 7 year old… maybe just stop having more kids than you can afford
That’s what I do now, starting 2 babies ago when we added an addition. Older kids get lumped together, baby gets their own space for awhile. Mom and dad need their sleep, too!
Brown note machine for when they are constipated
Getting ready to transition baby in with my toddler, what age did you put yours together? Trying to figure out the right time!
When I did it with my first 2 I did it day 1. They were only 16 months apart and they learned to sleep through each other's noises very quickly. I need to do it again soon with babies 3(age 4) &4 (due soon) and tbh I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it. Probably the same. I have this thing where it bugs me to have the baby in my room (did it of necessity with #3). That's not knocking anyone who does, it's just what I prefer. It also helps that #3 has been begging for a roommate and wants baby to join in. We'll see how it all goes.
The right time for you and your littles will be different from everyone else's. If you can, I'd start talking about it before it happens. I did that with my first and it worked really well. It also helped that we brought #2 home really late at night so #1 was ready to pass out anyway. Don't stress about it. You'll do fine.
Please wait until the baby no longer is crying throughout the night. I was the toddler who had to share a room with my infant younger brother while my mom was making him “cry it out“ and it was pure hell, my mom told me it was my responsibility to make my little brother stop crying and go back to sleep. I ended up getting really angry and upset because I was a toddler myself and he was crying and screaming all night, I ended up throwing things at him and injuring him, I really didn’t know what I was doing because I was barely more than a baby myself
@@bebop2523omg this sounds horrible! How old were you and how old was your brother? Cry it out she should do before she transitioned him to your room, or in her own room. I have a 2nd and im not gonna put her with her sister until she sleeps well
So I typed this whole thing out about sound machines and then I realized there are fish tanks in every room in my house. The noise from the filter is like white noise!
Im a sleep scientist and we have one of those fans if patients really need it. Just be aware that it could impair your ability to hear the babies...
Can you link your Amazon storefront? Or that sound machine please 😊
Of course! Everything I show is here, including my storefront ❤️ hortonlane.com/shop
My 7 year old and 14 year old still refuse to share rooms 🤦♀️
Can you link your sound machine?
You got it!! Hortonlane.com/shop ❤️
Didn’t bother with the sound machine taught might to sleep through noises. As a Pakistani family it’s a must. You can literally hoover by their head and they wouldn’t wake up.
I would just beg my parents to let me clean up the attic so i could sleep there. Not gonna share with a baby srry
How do you know when they need attention from you?
Are you having any more kids? Thank you for the tips!
She already answered, they are open to it.
@@kashbash9645 I’m sorry I’ve watched almost all her videos but I guess I missed that!
You are so sweet!! Thank you for the support! 🥹❤️ the video is a long form video (only 2 minutes haha) so it doesn’t come up on shorts 🤗
Those sound machines make horrible noises, as do fans.
I'm nervous the toddler will try to get the baby out of the crib... Has this happened to you?
Anyone have suggestions for a good loud white noise machine? Every one I've bought is so quiet
I have the Hatch sound machine and love it
We use an air purifier on max Germ Guardian desktop air purifier with turbo setting.
Lectro fan mini. So loud (if desired) and easy for travel
Box fan
Ahhaha the fan blows the sound around the room? Come again?
Nah when me and my older sister were little and our younger sister moved in we stayed up all night throwing stuffed animals into her crib in an attempt to bury her
Omg 😂😂 epic!
my kids won't sleep with all that noise!
You do know that creeps spy through those cameras, right? Also, that noise machine is also evil.
I don't care about waking up together, how about the transition from out of mommy and daddy's room??
Why would the baby move into the toddlers room
You can have more WHAT in your room?!??😂
Or just be childfree and sleep well without worry ❤
Sounds boring and unfulfilling to me!
I can't speak for everyone, but I've had a lot fewer worries keeping me up at night since I've had my baby. Before I always felt like whatever I did was never enough. Now even small things make me feel accomplished because I'm not just doing them for myself. Something like making a little dinner for just myself seems sad now that I make dinner for my family and get to see all their smiles if they like it
@annewithane7876 Couldn’t have said it better myself! 💕
@@annewithane7876 So you are looking for fulfillment through other human beings and not through bettering yourself? way to go to give insecurities to your children
@@happycookieasa2849 I am always learning new things and bettering myself, more so than when I was single. The difference is not that I have given up on any of those things, but rather that I am doing them for my children as well as myself and seeing the long term benefits. In college I studied to be a teacher. I wanted to do that to help kids. But once I started getting classroom experience I realized how little teachers can really do to improve a child's life. Whether they have a good childhood or not starts at home, and the best a teacher can realistically do is damage control. It's a wonderful calling for those who can do it but it was emotionally very draining for me. It showed me the importance of family and the limitations of even comparatively meaningful careers. So I'm going to take what I learned and use it to homeschool my own kids 🤷♀️
What about if you're putting together a 5 year old and a 2 year old. Seriously, let me know what you would do.
Why would this be a problem?
Fan on is not healthy during sleep please be careful
That's not true? It's recommended to have a fan on especially when babies sleep to lower the risk of SIDS.
A hot room is not healthy during sleep.
Oh cool looks like you have clubbed thumbs just like Clancy Burke and Megan Fox.
