If you use a foam Emory board like for filing finger nails you can cover more surface to clean the magnet wire. This is very helpful when the leads go through a PCB board

Thank you for providing the link for your new antenna. As you know, if I do buy this antenna to build, it will be my first. I don't even have a solder gun or heat shrink gun. My elmer is encouraging as far as building a kit so, maybe this will be the one. Thank you again Chuck and I do hope it comes with directions. Thank You

Chuck, any suggestions on a heat shrink gun and a soldering gun?
Chuck, I'm sorry to ask you so many questions but, what did you use to test if the soldering was a good connection.
@@janiceemery2008 Yea I have a small easy to store heat gun, let me get you a link. amzn.to/38pLIp7, it comes with heat shrink.
@@janiceemery2008 Just seeing the solder flow, something you learn as you solder. Then you can give it a little tug to make sure After it cools, your Elmer may be able to help with that.

Hi Reed, we are out of this right now, usually they are available on the toads discord, I would leave a link but they don't last for some reason. We have a link on Coffee And Ham Radios every weekend. Not sure when they will be back as we are concentrating on the antenna right now.

Great build Chuck, looks like a nice design. I think the Strain relief section is great and then the Heat Shrink went all “Free Spirit” on ya, haha. I thought it was going to be a disaster but wow, I loved how it calmed down and did it’s job in the end. By the way Chuck I think the 20-25 minute mark is prefect for a video, not too long at all buddy.

I usually use a bic lighter and burn the enamel off, then clean it up with some fine sand paper. I don’t know if its the right way to do it but it works well for me.
Thank you for discussing the collaborative design process, prototyping, and making this assembly video. What's the power rating? Will instructions for a 80 meter mod be included with the kit? Would using a slightly longer piece of heat shrink tubing be helpful in positioning it during final assembly?

Excellent. I would stay with the Orange. For outside visibility. Another idea offer the winder in several colors like black, orange, blue and green.

Also, I always here people say "dont kink the wire", but like why what happens if the wire gets kinky?

What is the power rating? Will it handle 20 watts?
Got one from the website. The magnet wire came in two pieces instead of 1 40” piece. Can i solder the two together to make all the toroid wraps because currently its only long enough for 13 wraps
Ron, we looked at your order and you ordered the Mercury Linked Dipole not the Artemis. That antenna comes with 2 rolls of magnet wire and 7 s-biners and various other parts.

Looks great chuck. One thing to remember , when alot of 3D printed plates are in a hot vehicle for a day or so, they will warp pretty badly. I think you said this was nylon so it should be good for Wx.
Yea Jay the one in the kit will be nylon, the one I built was ABS so it should stay pretty stable from what I have been told.

Jay, Yes we are selling a new model called the Apollo. It should be available soon; I am waiting on a few parts. We are also trying to include a couple new features and the winder looks even better with its new design. They should be available next week, link in the description.

Spike the kit will be 69.00 which includes the Nylon winder/antenna base and all the parts needed to complete the build including enough wire for the antenna and a counter poise.
