  • Hundreds of Australian native lizards and reptiles potentially worth more than $1 million have been intercepted by NSW Police before they could be allegedly illegally exported to Hong Kong.
Nearly 260 lizards have been uncovered in homes or in shipped packages by Raptor Squad detectives after an investigation into the illegal reptile trade began in September last year.
NSW Police say a criminal syndicate was capturing the Australian reptiles in the wild to export them to Hong Kong for financial gain.
