Thank you for the great tour of these beautiful historic homes thankfully preserved! I used to live on the Upper East Side when I worked as a fashion illustrator in Manhattan and remember some of these iconic buildings. I used to hang out at the Frick Museum almost every Sunday because they used to have free concerts every Sunday afternoons in the early 1970s. I remember the inner court yard where one could sit listening to a quartet which was so relaxing from the usual hustle and bustle of city life! The dining room facing Fifth Ave. was particularly lovely and serene with a beautiful floral arrangement on the round dining room table! I also worked around the corner from the J.P. Morgan Library which was his home, another amazing mansion with a secret underground tunnel he used during the 19th century. When I wasn't there, I was at the great MET taking in all the fabulous art and sculptures or gorgeous Central Park thanks to landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted who also designed Boston's Public Garden, St. Auburn Cemetery and the 1893 Chicago's World Fair's White City which was magnificent! Very important to preserve the architecture of the past, once it's gone via the wrecking ball, it's; gone for good! So please support the National Trust for Historic Preservation!

What a bunch of dead beats. It wasn't about other cities. NYC has incredible history. The only city I've been to was Paris that was mentioned. Don't go there if you are with someone disabled - you can't even cross the street, no laws requiring access for disabled, when we went out to dinner it took several restaurants to even be seated because they refused us and were stuck in the back and grudgingly served. Anyone who thinks NYC is depressing because of pandemic obviously doesn't get it. NYC was in crisis and we hunkered down and followed public health guidelines.

It’s so so sad that so many are gone in the name of what they call progress. The city made it too expensive to own. And even sadder most of the interiors have been reduced to commercial looks with no related aesthetics of their original style. Where Europe keeps and relishes their history. We tear it down. @@vincentschicchi4647 I agree with you, would be amazing to still see those beautiful buildings/ streets standing with families living in them, greenery around it, big driveways, no extremely tall buildings, and then on occasion in between a museum with the interior/ walls intact, which also suits the often old paintings better (and tbh, there are people, that do look at the old wallpaper and chandeliers and crown molding and windows and stairs and floors and ceilings and gardens and fountains and old furniture, etc. & luckily in Vienna/ Amsterdam/ Paris/ London, etc. they had a lot left (haven’t been to the US)). Also, still praying for the day someone will tear that ugly pyramid down at the center of the Louvre. But I do appreciate the space around it and them not sticking other ugly and modern buildings to it.

Beautiful. I only wish we could have seen more of the interiors decorated as they would have been in their heyday. More please!

Your presentation and narrative could not have been more wonderful. Congratulations on a beautifully executed and highly educational video. (As a professional musician, I have to comment on the music track, which is unnecessary because you’re content is so perfect. This kind of relentless background drone is enough to drive any musician crazy.)

I left NYC in the 1980's. It's still my home. Your presentation is amazing!!! I am planning a trip in the near future and want to visit the historical homes that are museums. Ever think of being a tour guide?

You missed the James Burden Mansion. I didn't get to see a lot of the outside, but saw much of the interior during a relatives wedding. Spectacular venue!
