I generally have a bias against media 'reviewers' and such, but you did a very good job of talking through the nuances of this film. I can most certainly tell you got a lot out of it. What did you personally think the significance of the birthing and white rhinestone cowboy scenes was?
I was looking for a trailer on youtube and only found your review. I'll be visiting San Francisco during the SFIFF and definitely will watch this film. Thanks.
Thank you for this spectacularly in depth review. I got to finally see the film and I have to say that it is amazing. Completely underrated, it is a movie that people won't get completely... But somewhere down the line I think this movie will become a big cult hit. I know I'm going to buy it on DVD
It doesn't have a current distribution plan but when it does play, you must go see it. It's at festivals all over the U.S. and later, throughout the world, coming soon. LEt me know what you think when you see it!
Your review sold me, Sean! ENTERTAINMENT is playing at the San Francisco International Film Festival three different times in late April--look it up at www.sffs.org/sfiff58
Terrific to hear - I have an outstanding relationship with SFIFF, having lived and worked in the Bay for four years. No doubt the SF community will love ENTERTAINMENT, but I await your thoughts. Thanks for commenting and be sure to subscribe for future reviews! - SM
all the movie needed was a bit of 1st person narration and it would have been akin to "A Clockwork Orange" Though, without the narration, it adds to the level of discomfort.
I hate movies about people who have nothing to say. Most scenes this guy barely says anything and i cant tell if its supposed to funny or just sad. But i still kindof liked this one.
Danny Sullivan Very much agreed, though I think ENTERTAINMENT is perhaps even more formally daring and individualistic. If you liked THE COMEDY, I highly recommend seeking out Alverson's NEW JERUSALEM, another beautiful and special movie. And thanks for the comments.
Danny Sullivan They are almost definitely trying to do a "roll out" for this film that takes people's anticipation to be successful. Part of that means suppressing the trailer, and clips, and major ad campaigning until they can secure a definite move for it. I would even go so far as to suggest there could be awards possibilities here because the film is truly THAT good - maybe not Oscars, but Indie Spirit, or Gotham?
Sean - you're good. Ambitious and dedicated. What's with the ladder, by the way? Now...next time, slow down. Bring yourself into the reviewing. Slow down. Thank you. Did I say slow down?

it seems like you are a real film buff expertise. when you got movies like gregg turkington in them, you can't lose. 5 bags for sure.
Yak yak yak yak. Just get to the point. How many _bags of popcorn_ does it get?
shouldn't it be "Beefar Chavez?"
+Beef Chavez lmao
