I love seeing a male perspective on Filofax planners or just planners in general! I want to get my SO into them but we’ve just entered the pocket Moleskin notebook phase for him so maybe one day! Great video!!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I need to do some follow-up videos on my planners that have aged so well. I love them after they're broken in and have some character. Have a great weekend!
That’s too funny! I have always wanted one too from that movie. I just love how he stepped into his life just from everything in his planner! I always thought if I had one I’d totally have my life together LOL! Great job!
Up until last year, I used a filofax A5 Malden Ochre planner and I loved it! I changed it this year because I'm traveling more and I'm not as young as I used to be, so I need something smaller. Now I have a filofax Lockwood Zip on Personal. Answering your question, I used to have the small tool to remove the SIM card that you get for the iPhone in the zipped pocket, cards of important contacts in the card slots, a small plastic ruler with some post-it flags in the larger slots, and in the bigger pocket I kept parking forms, which are paper slips that you feel in some areas that allow you to park your car in designated public parking areas.
Wonderful - nice presentation from start to finish. I have used a paper planner for 30 years and have a leather cover that was gifted to me . I made a page of birthdays, by month, and that's always in my planner. The birthdays are written a couple of weeks ahead of the actual day and then again on the day. I remember that movie, it was great! Very nice job on your presentation. Happy New Year wishes from sunny Santa Fe, New Mexico!
Mara, thanks for the kind words! That's a great idea about putting the birthdays on the calendar a week ahead of time. I've always wanted to go to Santa Fe... It's definitely on my short list of places to travel to. Cheers!
Der Filofax Malden Ochre ist wunderschön und man kann unfassbar viele Set ups für ihn machen. Er sieht immer toll aus. Am liebsten mag ich ihn mit Waldthema ❤️
You’re at first stage when I started planning. My first A5 was a Filofax A5 Metropol in black. All my inserts were Filofax. I do not own a A5 Malden but own 8 maidens in the pocket and 9 Malden minis. My current A5 planner is a purchase custom from a company called Van Der Spek which cost me $500. All my inserts are my own, custom made by myself with a true A5 configuration. I make my own dividers from a frosted pvc 15 mil plastic that are top tabbed. I make my own dashboard from a 20 mil laminate. My custom inserts are made 28 lb white smooth 100 bright paper which take fountain pens, gel pen, ballpoint, and highlighters very well without no bleed through or shadowing. My business card holders hold task cards which outline routines. I minimally decorate the pockets with deco cards, journaling cards, appointment cards, focus cards, or photo cards. A5 Malden are nice but there are other small companies that do better. Gillio and Van Der Spek are two that I am drawn to because of the quality and the customization. I am male and the planner world has been dominated by females. Your video takes me back to when I started 6 years ago. .
Very cool. I like your idea of making your own frosted pvc dividers and a dashboard out of laminate. Those sound awesome. And I'm definitely going to check out Gillio and Van Der Spek. Thanks for your feedback!
I remember Taking Care of Business and having the same thought: "I want that!" I write with fountain pens, so I attached a LAMY LX to the pen loop. It's a snap cap pen, so the cap stays secured to the leather loop and I can just pop it when I need it.
Wednesday my black Nalgene will be here, one in personal size and the other one in mini, I wanted to get the a5 too but my dog was like "hey you I got the poopies, take me to the vet" so I hope they still the black one in around 4 or 5 weeks.. thanks for showing us your planner
My first Filofax was a personal Malden ochre 🥰. I now have the a5 Malden ochre in my Amazon cart, along with a Malden pocket ochre.Yes, I love them that much. I also have a pocket Malden pear and 2 pocket Finsbury (black and raspberry). Before Filofax I was in a Franklin Covey compact.
Love the guy planning and especially your Bruce Lee photos. I think your Malden is perfect as it is. The Filofax inserts aren't all "feminine," and you chose a neutral color. The only thing you might want to do (eventually) is laminate the dividers since they wear down. Or just get new ones from Filofax when they are worn or torn. Nice that you have it as a business system, wish more men did!
I couldn't get along with the Malden (leather too floppy and the way the pockets made the front sit up rather than lay flat really bugged me!) so the Original is my favourite. The leather is much firmer, the pen loop is fully elastic, and the binder lays flat flat flat. If you need lots of pockets though you're out of luck. I have one in stone and two in the Jack design, and I just love the simplicity of them. Great to see a guy's planner for once, with no cutesy stickers! 'Pen only' is my style!
I've honestly been wanting to get one of these for the longest time, and funny enough the movie that made me want one was "Taking Care of Business" too! I'm a huge Jim Belushi fan! The only thing is though, is that I want to get one just like the one in the movie but i've been having a hard time finding one similar to that in the movie? I really love how it's organized in the movie, it's so cool! If you have any tips on finding a similar one it'd be greatly appreciated, and also great video! I'm glad I found it, thanks!
Lovely style and colour organiser! It looks like your pens have a rubber grip? I imagine they 'catch'/drag on the leather pen loop and this is why it's hard to get them in (besides that they might be on the thicker side for the size of the pen loop)? I really like this Filofax sticky note accessory, might get myself one some day.
Thanks. Yes- the pens in the video are a little thicker. I use a wide range of pens- some thicker, some thinner. I constantly swap them out. What's your favorite to use?
I agree that the pouch can be bulky with extra pens. But I like to keep spare notes, receipts, business cards, memorabilia, etc.. in mine and it’s not too thick! Just an idea. Thank you for sharing :)
I actually have a nice Franklin Covey planner, too. I prefer the Filofax mainly because of the Malden style- with the button clasp and the buttery soft leather. I also like that it feels like it can expand a bit more. My Franklin covey has a zipper to close it. But I love them both. Franklin Covey has some nice inserts as well.
Thanks, Eunester! How do you like the Personal and Pocket sizes? I haven't tried either of those sizes yet, but I'm tempted to. Thanks for your feedback!
I purchased mine from Amazon. But it's a genuine Filofax. And I would probably order directly from Filofax next time. They seem to have a lot of good sales.
I love the Malden. Thank you for sharing yours. A man’s for a change and yours is not all stickered up!
Thanks, Diana! :)
Always great to see a male's perspective. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Tiffany! :)
All men should make themselves planner videos. I am very happy for your planner video.
Thanks, Vanesa! :)
Great to see a man's planner for a change. And the image of Bruce Lee is fresh to the eyes :)
Ha! Thanks, Julia. Yes- Bruce Lee inspires me for some reason. Wish he was still with us!

Really great video of your set up. I’ve just ordered this Filofax. This!
Thanks! I hope you love it! They're so much fun.
Love your set up. I think it’s perfect! Super functional. I wouldn’t change a thing
Thank you! :)

Good video. This was a good review of this planner. Keep up the good work!!

Thank you, RominaMorris! :)
Love the Malden, have it in personal and pocket. 🥰

That's awesome! I would love to start getting into fountain pens, too. The seems like the inevitable next step.
Wow love the brown a5 fileofax gonna get 1
Thanks, Leon. Hope you like yours.
Thank you, Justin, for the video. I'm looking for a new system and rings may be the way to go.🤔
I just love the Filofax. I use other organizers, too, but I think this one is my favorite.

Thanks, Jean! Yes- the Malden leather is definitely a little floppy. I'm considering getting a second Filofax and I'm looking at the Original. Cheers!
Do you miss the Franklin covey system? I’m using the Filofax and I’m getting so tempted by their daily inserts haha.
The Franklin Covey system will always have a nostalgic appeal to them! Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the comment! Taking care of Business is probably the most notable Filofax movie. The title of the movie was originally, in fact, Filofax.
What!?? No stickers?? No cutesy paper clips of fancy hand writing?? How dare you sir 🤣how dare you🤣🤣🤣🤣💗💗💗
Ha! Too funny! Yeah... this is a typical guy's planner.
Good job!
Thanks, Michelle! :)
I waaant this ❤❤❤😢

I keep going back and forth between Filofax and Franklin Covey. I wonder why you prefer Filofax? Thanks.

You just gotta love Filofax, i have the Malden ocher A5, Personal and Pocket....... then i bought the A5 stone and kingfisher, i think I’m addicted
Thanks, Eunester! How do you like the Personal and Pocket sizes? I haven't tried either of those sizes yet, but I'm tempted to. Thanks for your feedback!
I I love both sizes, i use them as on the go, for notes and important information i need, plus the sizes are lighter for my bag.
@@planzs615 Thanks!
What brand is your hole punch and where did you source it, please?
It's an "Open Industrial 6 Hole Punch" from Amazon. It was $28.95.

Hello. Where do you get your filofax???
I purchased mine from Amazon. But it's a genuine Filofax. And I would probably order directly from Filofax next time. They seem to have a lot of good sales.
there is definately no comparison to filofax a5, i have tried a few cheaper ones, pretty but nup, love mine too. i put pouch at front, better.
Thanks, Linda! Yes- I'm still in love with it after all these years. Gets better with age. :)
