This past year we did not but I did buy two ng heaters that hopefully I’ll get installed this summer so I can really extend the season. The high tunnel stayed surprisingly warm this winter.
So, the freezer ones did not do well. I have to be honest and tell you I never got around to covering them with straw. I was so busy this winter in the greenhouse I just never did it. I ended up just leaving everything in place in the Bato buckets up on the stands and it worked out great. about 95% of the plants survived. I have talked to growers about what I did, and they said I was just lucky, but I am going to do it again this winter and see when happens. LOL.
It takes time and practice to perfect your hydroponic growing setup. Keep experimenting and you'll get there! The NFT channels are a pain. The only suggestion I can give you is too clean as soon as you harvest. If you let the roots dry in the channels it takes 10 times longer to get them clean.
Loved the video, what a great surprise to have that many strawberries so early on. Here in Naples FL we get hot days and hot nights with no real break in between lol. Thanks for the video, lovely as always
When you overwintered did you leave the troughs on the pipes? I also remember you saying in another video you would leave the sides of the greenhouse open during the winter to keep it from getting too hot. Did you do that?
Yes we did leave the plants in the buckets on the pipes and lowered down the sides just a little. It worked out for us this year but after talking to a lot of growers they were surprised so maybe i lucked out. I am going to do it again this winter and see.
I love those berries !!!
Thank you for appreciating the berries! They are definitely a favorite.
Some of those strawberries are so sweet they're burgundy!
They were very dark red and very good. I did pick out some for me before I packaged them up.
Total of how many strawberries planted?
I am up too 1500 plants now
Good looking berries!

did you find a difference between the freezer vs covering with straw winterization? thanks for all the helpful videos!

My strawberries don’t get near that big.. I want to tell you, I’m new at the Hydroponic growing and I found out it’s a pain to get my NFT trays clean.

Strawberries in our supermarkets are white inside and $5 / 250 g almost tasteless.
That's disappointing to hear about the strawberries. It's always a bummer when the taste doesn't match the price.
You nice crop you are wasting strawberry you're very beautiful
