I started making these in the first lockdown 2020 and haven’t stopped. I glaze with almond milk and fill with vegan bacon or cheese . So delicious thanks for a great video 😊

Lovely that you and your Mum could get together to make a family tradition bread. My father was from N. Ireland and loved his scones and Irish soda bread. My Mom was from England and my Dad asked for her hand before he left for Canada. She moved to Canada about 6 months later and stayed at another couple’s house for a week before my Mum and Dad got married. 🇨🇦

Maïs is corn in French, Blé is Wheat (which would be closer to the name of the bread), so it being made with wheat and its name do actually link together!

Also, corn used to be a more general term for grain. It only came to mean yellow kernels thanks to the Americans.

Wonderful meeting your mom. Love your relationship, respect but loads of love. My mom made her sweet rolls quite similar, the flour at the end was about the only difference. She had a cast iron stove & oven, she made the most delicious food, missing her, but the memories are always with me. May you all be blessed ❣

I made these for my family on Saint Patrick’s day instead of our usual soda bread to go with the Guinness beef stew and they LOVED IT 🙌🏼 They were so easy to make and we even sprung for the Kerry Gold to slather them in lol Absolutely delicious! My daughter liked them even more than the Guinness brownies I made for dessert 😂 Thank you for sharing such a wonderful recipe with us! 🖤

Lucky me! 🍀 When I went to Waterford for a day I stopped into a shop for a bite to eat and saw blaas on a sign. I had no idea what it was but decided to try something new. They made me a little sandwich (butter and bacon) and it was delicious. Little did I know that a blaa is only a blaa in Waterford! Had I chose plain old bread I would have missed a unique opportunity.
