Mine had the Torx as well but a pin in the middle not allowing to Torx to go in. With a small hard steel screwdriver worked on braking the center pin and that worked. You then take a slightly larger screwdriver of good quality and back the screes out. Now you can clean the center with a Dremel and clean them up. Next time it will be easy to take them out. It will be difficult to find replacement screws as you need to make sure to not damage the holes where the screws go in. However, I had some brass inserts, drilled the holes and super glued them in. A few 6/32 SS Philips heads in there and it is perfect. That is how BOSE supposed to do it. Never make it hard for customers and prevent them to help themselves. It just makes YOU look bad. Why do that. You think we quit? It just entices us to fix "your" cheap trick. Wife happy now. See !?!?!?
for everybody who has problems with the 5point totx screws: a little flat screwdriver, a hammer and a little bit compassion helps. after you got yourself some grip with the hammer you can easily screw the 5-point-security system.
Yea i was expecting a bit more bass when i bought this thing. Still impressive for 2 little speakers but with my big sound system, i guess im a bit spoiled with bass and have my expectations higher than they need to be😂😂
The bit is specifically a Torx tamper-proof bit. If you look at a Torx tamper-proof bit they will say "TT" and then the number for the size. The bit for this disassembly will say "TT15."
Its actually a pentalobe, so just a CR-V 2 2mm flat head, break off the centre post of the screw. then use a CRV3.0 3mm flat head, get it into 2 of the lobes and back it off by hand.
@@GuillermoBueso Yes, the designation of TR15 is pretty much the same as TT15. The designation of "TT" was popularized by companies like Stanley and stands for "tamper torx." The "TR" stands for "tamper resistant" and is similar to "TT" but has a wider understood definition. Your TR15 bit should have a hole in the center of the bit which helps to remove tamper resistant screws such as those found in this tutorial.
Got the 4 plugs out. The Torx screws holding this together are not your normal Torx screws. These have a pin directly in the center that prevents a standard Torx driver from going into the hole. Unless you have a Torx driver with a hollow center you're dead in the water. Bought a new unit from QVC for under a hundred bucks.
Yeah, normal Torx are 6 point, and those are the security version screws. Never seen any 5 point torx, I think Bose did this so you have to pay them to do any repairs. These seem to be toast after one fall, I wonder if Klipsch makes something similar, as they are a far superior product than Bose anyway!
All my screws were filled in with glue. After I dug that all out, I tried security bits from two different sets. Nothing fit the screws. Bose intentially makes their stuff so you can't fix it. I'm done with them.

Hey thanks for posting. Where did you buy that specific Torx screwdriver bit? i've looked in every hardware store, no one has ever seen or heard of it.
Alan Mushnick the battery wires are soldered. Why would you remove it? Even if it's dead it will still work if it's ac plugged. I can't guarantee you that it will work if you take it out.
My bose color doesn't power and I don't know if it could be because replace the battery is needed or there is another problem with the speaker. What do you recommend me?
Fck bose and the genious who decided to use security torx screws behind a plastic blind dowel pins that get mangled when pryed out. My isn't turning on. When it's connected to the poser outlet the light just flickers until it gets to green but still it won't turn on. Do you know the problem?
I know it's an old post, but I had mine connected to the charger, held the play/pause button for 15 seconds, while continuing to hold, I unplugged the power, then let go of the play/pause. I was able to power the speaker back on afterwards. Hope this helps.
The micro-USB port of mine is damaged too .. thanks to this video i'm trying to replace it through a new one. the sound is too good of the soundlink color. Newer speaker are not able to impress me. :/

Interesting idea thanks. My soundlink color might last an hour on battery. It happened within 4 months. I'm not very impressed with it.
