Watching Death Note for the first time is so fun, because you get to see these 5000 IQ plans being carried out and the whole time you're sitting there like "🤯"
Simply genius on Light's part.. this and the scene where he follows Raye Penber on the train are 2 of my favorite scenes in the early Death Note Series

The hijacker before dying was shooting into some "Monster" as he said, and it was with Rey Penber who is investigating one of the possible Kira's. Moreover soon after Raye Penber was doing strange movements and was also dead soon. It could easily be connected by L that Kira was the one who killed the Hijacker and Raye (which he knew about Raye) so he'd know it was someone on the bus and Light is the only possibility as only he is a student with access to the police database there. What's more Raye SHOULD have reported about him showing his ID to a civilian as he is supposed to be undercover. Light got very lucky he didn't. Just because he got away with it, doesn't change that fact. If Raye did as he was supposed to? L would get information about Light asking and getting his ID with his name there. And would be fully sure Light is Kira as I explained. By all means this was dumb. In fact Light got lucky when he got behind Raye and talked about his close people Raye by himself said about "her" which gave Light a lucky opportunity without which Raye would be unlikely to just cooperate so easily. I'm talking about their next encounter when he threatened him to go in the station. Another time Light simply got lucky but that's not all. If Raye was at least decent intellectually not even very smart, he'd memorise Light's voice and face as well as name due to him showing him his ID and he would immediately know it's Light behind him being the Kira. In fact also, what's this triple luck? Firstly a seemingly capable and composed person so easily give out the "her" (Raye giving out he has a wife to Kira who is behind him) But more than that He didn't remember Light's voice but remembered some random criminal (the one who was Hijacking) being on the news before and for what he was there, but not Light who got his ID and who he was tasked to investigate? 💀 But thirdly oh god... When Light dropped the note, Ryuk started talking about Light and also about the Death Note page. And the Hijacker also could talk as he for example said "Get Away". So he could easily say "What the hell are you talking about?! Some Light and Death Note Page!" Which would be another time Light would lost. Light had over 3 lucky convenience for him and many holes. If Raye just did anything decent like memorising the voice and name of someone he is tasked to investigate or reporting he gave out his ID, even with this L would be sure Light is Kira. What's worse Light didn't even have to kill Raye as Raye wasn't any danger to him and he could get himself less suspicion.

Probably wouldn't have mattered. He didn't consider Light to be a suspect at that point. It would have just meant Light would need to find another way onto the task force.

Honestly, it would've been surprising if Light somehow managed to finish the death note. Remember, Ryuk stated that the Shinigami will leave the owner of the notebook he dropped once the owner dies or completes the Death note
The death note has infinite pages, when he says finished he mean as it the death note itself is finished (aka destroyed), like if it was set on fire for example

Anime Mens ボディ Pillow His death definitely made me sad, even more than Naomi. He was my third favorite character for sure and was almost Light’s level of attractiveness (very high)
SPOILER ALERT!!! Watching this show for the first time. I fell in love. When L died 3/4 of the way in, I lost my love for watching. It just wasn't the same after that. I would have liked it if L knew he couldn't beat Light. So L had to resort to his last option. Sacrificing his life to catch Kira. Kinda like sacrificing a Queen for a Queen in chess. All while thinking of him and Light being friends, doing things together. BK L never had any friends before and it brought out a small piece of humanity. Oh well, beggers can't be choosers.
Good news! He kinda does that in the Japanese movies, to my knowledge SPOILER ALERT: While I haven’t watched the movies myself, I have read the follow-up novel and tie in book, L Change The World (it’s really good, and apparently a lot better than the movie it’s tying into). From what I’ve gathered from that book, L did some tricks involving writing his own name in the death note in order to catch Kira. He succeeds in doing so, and Light loses. But while L, due to the conditions he wrote in his death thingy, still has some time to live…but only like, a month or so iirc? And then the book is about him solving one final case in that time. It’s pretty interesting, so go check out the Japanese movies and said novel if you want to see a storyline where it goes that way
@Kusanagi64 well there is already dubbed one tht were created... any anime can be dubbed...even Death Note so no matter wht dubbed or not Death Note is still epically awesome

Usually anime is a lot better with subs, but Death Note is one of the few I prefer the english dub.
Kinda equal I would say, the dub is certainly on par with the sub here tho
