45690 Leander VOLCANIC Display The Coast To Coast Express! 16 September 2023

- Ex LMS Jubilee took the stage for this year's Coast to Coast express charter! Promoted by the railway touring company and operated by West Coast Railways. 45690 Leander took charge of the charter from Liverpool Lime Street to Scarborough via the Hope Valley and Sheffield.
We begin at Manchester Victoria Station on the West Coast Mainline. Assisted by class 37 37685 "Loch Arkaig" the stanier jubilee made a powerful display charging towards the famous Miles Platting Bank!
We finish at Hyde Bank Farm in Stockport Greater Manchester. Having ditched the Class 37 following a water stop at Guide Bridge we see the steamer effortlessly accelerate away with 10 on the drawbar!
All of that before nine O'clock in the morning eh!

11th August 1968 comes to mind. I missed it that day but the atmosphere must have been incredible.

What an amazing video the arrival of 45690 and then her steady beat as she pulls away from the station. The hoot from the 37 is an added bonus, did they detach that as it wasn’t on the back when I saw her.
Thank you so much, I take great pride in my work and this video I'm very proud of! The tour is assisted from Liverpool Lime Street till guide Bridge. They ditch the diesel and the tour runs solo to Scarborough.
