30 years ago. I was so enchanted by this technologically advanced game back then. But I never solved it. I guess I was too dumb. I wish I could show this VR version to myself in 1993. I think I would have fainted after a few minutes, or had several outbursts of jubilation until fainting. Wow. These are the good things to be alive for in these times!
Let’s hope that this Game changes the plot so it will actually make sense the original Game’s plot made very little sense and the same thing with it’s sequel The 11th Hour.@@patrickspapens5497
This is a pretty cool game and it's great that Wolf says "Presto!" After he played Geno-type, William was such an amazing character and Wolf is an amazing gamer
It's really cool to see how much they changed this game for the better. 7th Guest is a landmark title for its time but not a particularly good game in it's own right. The puzzles were unbelievably difficult and esoteric barely had any connection to the game itself. Once you were done being "wowed" by the pre rendered graphics and FMV the actual meat of the experience felt more like 'Microsoft Entertainment pack - Spooky edition' I'm glad these guys had the right idea to chuck all of that in a bin and just focus on the spirit of the game instead. (Pun not intended)
The 7th Guest was one of my favourite games 30 years ago, along with Phantasmagoria. The video performances are still the same, talk about nostalgia. I still remember so much of it, incredible how good games stay with us. Oh, the changing paintings reminded me of Clive Barker's Undying!
This was one of the first live action video games, and it’s a classic. Seeing this redone for VR with similar but different puzzles is fantastic. And being VR s very appropriate considering it’s origin. Love the new actors. Looking forward to watching all of this.
Nice to see someone playing this remake.. I actually have the original 7th Guest on disc.. (I was terrible at it lol) .. So its nice to see how much the gameplay and puzzles have evolved for a modern generation.. Great video!!! Keep up the fantastic work!! 😊
just got off this game I'm loving it. it's right up my ally. The puzzles, so far, remind me of the type of puzzles first encountered in the original professor Layton and the curious village and nothing wrong with that, It looks stunning on the quest 3
Just started this game and watching your videos after I progressed a bit… Gotta love the little details in this house: in that last room, all drinks on the shelves have funny names like Gut Punch, Devil’s Riddle, Red Rum and the bottle of wine you picked up before leaving is “L’Abattoir” (the slaughterhouse in French…)
I do like that there are some hidden scares. I didn't see that shadow form in Heine's room when I entered it, but I'm pretty sure I saw one sitting in the chair by the coffin puzzle after I solved one of the puzzles.
oh this is perfect, you're starting to play this while RoahmMythril is playing the old original game. If the stories are the same you guessed correctly that Temple wants to be able to use real magic.
28:45 "Fool 'em all, Julia. Fool 'em all." That line, as you pick up her still-corked _and full_ complimentary bedside wine bottle, makes me suspicious. I think maybe under the circumstances of the game; a big ol' house filled with puzzles and clues, six players and only one winner; Julia might be expecting some amount of allying and inevitable double-crossing, so she's _playing the role_ of a cranky old drunken has-been, hoping that the other guests will mostly ignore her, but also that when they _are_ forced to play with her, they won't take her seriously as an opponent until it's hopefully too late. Also, you missed a coin in the foyer.
I'm already enjoying this so much can't wait for more And the photo at 11:48 the change is so tiny i didn't notice the fang marks on her neck either at first
Henry Stauf is the kind of man I would expect to throw this kind of party or whatever it is for his invited guests but would never be letting those guests leave the party alive and as for his game it's likely nothing more than a ruse and even if it was real he likely only planned for himself to be the winner
No fucking way! I used to play this on PC in the 90s! They have a 2nd one called The 11th Hour which was way more violent and had an 'M' rating. Hopefully they make that one for VR
I cannot solve the puzzle with a globe in the dining room with the fish and chicken and human head or whatever. I get down to the last 4 or 8 tiles and it’s just not completing their eye no matter what, no matter how many combinations I try it’s just not solving
Great, finally decided to buy a Quest 2 around December off gift money, now I"m wondering if I shouldn't buy the Quest 3. I mean, as far as I know all the old quest games would still work. Anyone know for sure if the 3 is that much more comfortable?
I've got the quest 3 plus the quest 2 and I've been doing comparisons between them and the 3 is no more comfortable and tbh it's a very slight upgrade in general. One bad sign imo is even this brand new game doesn't say enhanced version on quest 3 or anything like that. You would think the new games would definitely have a graphical enhancement for the quest 3 but nope. Anyway I'd recommend just using your quest 2 and see how things go for the 3 as time goes on.
@@Lithium023 Thanks. Yeah from a tech comparison the only thing the Quest 3 seems to have over the 2 is the higher end model has like double the storage. But I'm not sure that's worth like an extra $200
It's not the original game so eh. I mean sure, it looks okay, I think the original The 7th Guest game is the best game to me. You've got the spooky ghost interactions, you've got the mystery and the random screams of Martine Burden. The 11th Hour was a great game as well, and don't forget the fan made game The 13th Doll, which Robert Hirschboeck reprised his role as Henry Stauf AND to top it off, the Trilobyte developers gave their blessings to those fan devs for that game. At least bring back one original actor/actress for a remake. Basically this is a brand new game, with the title The 7th Guest VR, but it's not the original game.
I bought it on my Quest 3 and was a bit disappointed with the low resolution textures and overall bland look. I was thinking of buying it on Steam in hopes it would look better. Your video has me wondering if it will, because it also looks pretty unimpressive. Are you playing the Steam version maxed out? I would think with your 3090 you should be able to.
Supernatural lasted for 15 seasons apparently Everyone just eventually got sick and tired of working on it so The Cast and The Crew decided to call it quits.@@rachelsheppard9122
Can anyone help me with the hint system please, which I just cannot get to work on my Quest 2. When I pick up a coin it vanishes into thin air after a few seconds, like it's going into some kind of inventory for future use. But there's no apparent way to subsequently use it. The tablet thing is displayed when I press left trigger button, and I can slide the puck thing around using the right "grip" button. When I hover over the buttons (up/down floor, help, progress) they highlight but I have no idea how to "click". I've tried stabbing it with the right hand pointy finger ... Nothing happens. I've tried picking up a coin and dropping it onto the puck's "coin holder" but it just vanishes in the same way. Can anyone help me please?
A few months old, and completed, I won't feel bad about talking about what I remember and how it's changed, but just in case I'll do it as replies to myself here, so that folks have to click to see the spoilers, even the small ones.
I watched the demo, and I noticed just how easily you managed to get through things and how you didn't really stumble over the puzzles. I noticed though the little ways they added hints to the start, so that tells me some of the demo players and testers did not understand even half as fast.
TAD at the door. I remember that he didn't use the door though? If he just walked in on the same night as the others, that ... does things... to the plotline.
Transforming the old cake puzzle into the new "set of four" puzzle is not bad. New solution, and a solid nostalgia showing a version of the old cake. I feel like the old video gave away a little more then this small hint in here, but it gives a better feel of the characters.
The Magicians room, in the original, I think it was a card puzzle? A classic, and not too hard. This new puzzle set takes advantage of VR and does it so well. A card trick would be a waste of the interface.
Ah, now Julia. I remember her unfortunate end. I also remember that I solved her puzzle pretty much accidently the first time. The coffin game is a much simplified version of a puzzle that, while not the hardest of the original, took the longest of any to solve, even if you followed a guide to do it perfectly.

i recently replayed the original after a few decades. Back in the day this game creeped the hell out of me
Exactly! Have you played the sequel to this game called The 11th Hour? I was a huge computer game nerd growing up lol

Yea I remember playing this on my cousin copy he had a CD rom and that was so new and cool to me at the time
The original had a couple puzzles that were fairly tough. And no hand-holding hint system so common today. Beautiful game.
This is a pretty cool game and it's great that Wolf says "Presto!" After he played Geno-type, William was such an amazing character and Wolf is an amazing gamer
i love that on the start he says "presto!" cuz he just played geno-type, i honesly loved william as a character
