I know this is old...but where I live caterers take advance payment..atleast 50% before they start the job😅 Mostly 100% M sure things hv changed everywhere now
No, it was already a standard ages ago. The thing with funeral was, well you cannot reall planned it far ahead and will only start looking for one when your close ones died so it might make sense for the caterer to be paid after the service. And even if she did have some kind of down payment, I believe it would be less than 50% and at the time Monica was really struggling with unemployment so they kinda need money fast.
@@dodixaber8968 well if she had the time to pick up a phone and arrange for a food service..m sure those guys would HV told the rates and a deposit/advance..even if it's before they start cooking No caterer today will put their own money even for raw materials But like I mentioned this was before the internet age or just at the very start of it when people mostly only did cash or cheque payments In any case it's a smarter strategy....people (like this widow) will always try to make some excuse like food wasn't good or I got diarrhoea after eating this... Or as she was pretending to be sad to avoid payment
