late on this, but no, you weren't underleveled for the stone boss. just underutilized heavy attacks, which is where the bulk of damage comes from. for anyone new that's wondering why damage seems low - light attacks are just the builders for the charged attacks, unless you're specifically hitting the seethrough combos correctly. focus points also let you instantly charge your heavies with focus points built up, so building max focus allows for a big hit w/o manually charging. also, not having 3 focus charge points available contributes to lack of damage output with that in mind, and that requires points in the stance tree. maxing out your stance of choice and the general charged attack traits on the left side of the stance page is the key. edit: 3:08:10 is a perfect example of the seethrough combo i mentioned. he just got the thrust stance so he didn't know the interaction, so it seemed bogus to him, but if you time your heavy during the light combo, you jump backwards and do this attack in thrust stance. if you time it right, you "see through" the enemy and get s, along with other bonuses, and the hit can stagger. if you mess up the timing though, you're just locked in place like you see here and your salad gets tossed😂
I discovered that if you don’t know the journey to the west story (I only know the gist of it), that if you really want to understand what’s going on you need to read the enemy descriptions. There’s a lot of story beats that you just won’t get without reading them, like understanding everything with Jinchi, the two monk guais that you fought (fire boy and poison boy) the bear, and the big wolf. Like apparently the wolf wasn’t the original jiexuei, but a wolf that came with the bear, because the bear brought the original back from the dead but left right after, leading the bear to appoint a new one to control the wolves of the mountain, meaning he’s still around, and if you read the whiteclad noble part we discover he talked with the original wolf about his resurrection and the nature of it, and that’s just that part of the story, the more important part I think is the part with Jinchi because that I think was apart of the original journey, hence you got the mantle from it. Just saying it’s important to read the enemy/character information (the enemy information is in the portraits, if you expand them you get a whole story basically)

I know you hate back seat gaming but if i could make one suggestion, saving all your mana attacks for the end of the fight helps reduce the amount of attempts. I personally only melee for the first half of a bosses health bar and finish them with magic

Def getting this game, it gives me a ghost of tsushima/Nioh 2 vibe(mostly cause of the stances) mixed with GoW4/5 combat/upgrades Also speaking of Nioh 2, have you played that game SeeReax? cause it might be something youre interested in once you finish this It's a souls style game, but it's a lot faster paced with tons of builds to play with, you get to create your own character and you get to customize youre demon form, there's 3 types of demon you can be and it takes place before the 1st game so no worries about missing out on story

Black Loong is one of the secret bosses in chapter two. Also, like the chapter one boss. If you look around enough, you will find a secret area with a few bosses that will actually give you an item that makes rat guy a lot easier.

If he turns stone while standing, he won’t counter attack with the vanish. If he goes stone on All fours then he is doing the vanish attack. Always delay your last dodge of the three sword attack combo. Don’t forget his leg sweep after his two piece punch combo. Get burn on him with your transformation as soon as possible for max damage. Don’t waste mana on smoke step, just use it all for immobilize. Stay calm and try not to panic roll. You’ll get it
DEION! Please go back to chapter 2 where you fought the tiger. Using an item there will lead to one of the best spells to have. You won't regret it! I know you don't like tips or anything but please! Get the spell!
