OMG!! The hate is horrible. My son is on the drumline in the Showtime Band and comes from Westlake High School, a feeder school to many SWAC bands. Howard is a private institution with a 60K price tag and has a 3.5 GPA requirement. Many of the band members don't get scholarships for band but academics. He wishes they were bigger but I think they work with what they have. Wish HBCU supporters were more supportive.

I hate to see these historic bands struggle but we have to understand it's not the students fault at all. It's poor leadership. These schools tend to put anybody in these director spots just to fill a position. Most of the time they bring in a director whose experience has been mostly high school and that's the culture they bring instead of stepping up to college level. We have to stop selling our kids short and start investing in good experienced band directors and athletic directors for our HBCU 's.

@@koju3891 Also our black high school bands on the East coast aren't as large and don't produce as many college ready students and they aren't that excited about marching in a collegiate band.
HU is known for their big sound and small size. I hope they keep growing and get back to the days when they had more numbers. They still sound and look good though. 😎👍🏿👍🏿
There are plenty of great sounding sideline recordings, let’s not create excuses. HU is rebuilding and they would sound the same up close or at a distance at this point.

Fire everybody , the band director the nusic arranger. The person who designed the field show. . The dance girl choreographer can stay she did the best she could with the mess they was playing. Auxiliary was good except the drum major and yes that type drum major is Auxiliary
Enjoyed the performance, the DM made attempt to bring back old school and the ladies with the batons. I also agree those uniforms look as if they just declared victory. 🥴
